The very first teaser trailer for Frank Miller's adaptation of Will Eisner's The Spirit has finally debuted. The film focuses on the masked superhero The Spirit, whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City. I think Frank Miller has got this thing down. I love the feeling, I love the look to this, the music, everything. I don't know why anyone doubted Frank Miller to begin with? This feels like 300 and Sin City combined, but with an even more classic touch. No footage besides Gabriel Macht as The Spirit, but that's all that matters at this point. We've got plenty of time to go! Check it out and let us know your thoughts! Adapted from the legendary comic book series created by Will Eisner, The Spirit is a classic action-adventure-romance written for the screen and directed by genre-twister Frank Miller. It is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the Spirit (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted kil

Since we never did a Sunday Discussion last week we've got to make up for it big time this week. With the announcement of Crank 3 coming in 3D this morning, I've been pushed to the edge with my acceptance of 3D. You combine that with the endless 3D buzz coming from the industry trade show ShoWest last week, and now I can't let this subject go to rest. With the success of both Beowulf and Hannah Montana, it's become apparent that the industry is starting to develop more and more 3D content and the public is eating it up. However, that doesn't mean it's the future and it's a question I've been meaning to bring up for a while now. Is 3D just an entertainment theme park gimmick or is it actually a feature that could be used to enhance the artistic side of cinema? Let's start this by looking at this morning's announcement. Crank 3 is the perfect example to prove that 3D is purely a gimmick. Just look at the title, now they can call it Crank 3D! Sure they might like the idea of 3D, but now they can easily change the name to also promote the idea that 3D is in this. And immediately when I hear something like that, I instantly feel like its quality is much lower. It's just my own

Before you even start to question what or why or who this is, you just need to watch the trailer and enjoy. I literally just heard about this an hour ago, and in that short amount of time its gone from "what the hell is this?" to "you need to watch this!" The Foot Fist Way is a comedy that premiered at the LA Film Festival in 2006 that's just now making its way to theaters. As the trailer points out, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay both love the movie, apparently the entire Judd Apatow crew is obsessed with it, and Patton Oswalt has declared it a sui generis work on par with The Big Lebowski. Convinced enough to join the hype yet?
Paramount Vantage eventually picked up the film and now two years later is finally putting it out in limited theaters on April 11th. Hot Rod'sDanny McBride stars as North America's finest tae kwon do instructor and self-anointed "King of the Demo" - Fred Simmons. Watching this trailer and this clip from Conan O'Brien (at the bottom) made me realize that this character is on par with Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat. Everyone on the inner track of Hollywood is raving about The Foot Fist Way, so don't miss it.
