Well, almost PWNT anyways. The arch-nemesis (read: serial nuisance) of the video games industry is on the verge of a total boning, with a judge from his Flordia Bar trial recommending he be found guilty of 27 out of 31 misconduct charges.

You can find the full story here

While it's not quite a guilty verdict yet, 31 charges has got to be a pretty tough bullet to dodge. The full report is due on September 2nd so mark it on your calendar and start building a few effigies.

I think Entegy said it best: "Perfect. The banhammer is set, all we need is for it to drop now. :D"

A Short Story - Part 1I scrambled hurriedly up the rock face, trying desperately to get away from the bird people chasing me, screeching for my blood. Thanks to the adrenaline coursing through my veins the heavy suit of armour (which I had cursed constantly on the trip up to the nest) no longer seemed to weigh me down.Or perhaps it was fear. Another javelin flew past me. I felt the wind from the weapon fly past my hand. I watched it fly higher and connect with the rocks above me. For a horrifying moment imagined the javelin bringing a small avalanche down with it. Luckily only the javelin came down, bouncing harmlessly off my armour and plunging back towards the terrifying bird-men below.“I hope it hits one of them” I thought, grinning. Higher I climbed.  I’d been sent to the nest of bird-men to capture one of their young. They had often raided nearby settlements, reportedly stealing children in the night. The governor of the township had decided to get vengeance on the bird-people, which is why he hired me to steal one of their young in return.“Easy,” I had stupidly thought then “it’ll be just like snatching chicks from a nest”So I suited up and headed towards the hills where thei

I’ve seen a few articles lately discussing the good and bad things about “cloned” MMO’s. The closed beta release of Wind Slayer has reignited debate on whether blatantly cloning an MMO is good for the gamers, the game itself and the industry as a whole. For those who haven’t seen it, Wind Slayer is almost a carbon copy of another MMO; Maple Story. It does have a few differences in some areas (such as PvP) but the similarities are too many to ignore. Wind Slayer just doesn’t seem to have any original ideas of its own and even resorts to flat-out plagiarism at times; one of the NPC quest givers is named “Gangdalf”, naturally he’s a kindly old wizard (who would have guessed?) and in one of the quest texts his name is misspelled as “Gandalf”. But Wind Slayer is not the game that shamelessly plucks its essence from other sources: Wind Slayer vs. Maple StoryLineage 2 vs. ShaiyaLord of the Rings Online vs. …well, a little bit of everything. While the focus is currently on whether or not cloned games are any good, I’ve become a bit more worried about the genre overall. Cloning games, while not always a good thing, is still accepted in the MMO community. The humble MMO seems to be now stuck

Poo and peaches.
This is the most accurate way to describe the first ten hours most people will spend playing Wind Slayer; poo and peaches.I am not joking, no matter how much I wish I was.
Wind Slayer is a free MMORPG (with premium content available) which just recently started it's closed beta. Players familiar with Maple Story will feel right at home in the 2D, side-perspective environment. The game itself is very enjoyable to begin with, but quickly makes some terrible mistakes. Where to begin?

Firstly the control scheme (and possibly my biggest gripe with the game): The arrow keys are used for movement and A, S, D, W are used for actions such as attacking and picking up items. Most gamers are well used to using their left hand (ASDW) for movement and this control is quite uncomfortable. I immediately went into my key settings to rearrange my keys to be a bit more bearable. I almost cried when I discovered that while most keys can be reconfigured very simply, the arrow keys were one of the few that could not be changed. This means that if you find this control layout uncomfortable, you're stuck with it.
This doesn't make the game unplayable, as the combat is simple enou
