NOTE: I don't know how often I will write these, but I'll try to get the whole series I have planned out before I do other stuff. This is probably better off in an essay, but I'm bored and don't have much else to do.
This is going to be part of a series of articles I'm going to write about Western government control and some of their methods of influencing us. Eventually I will go on to talk about the future of it and there are some examples of the future of it since games like Metal Gear Solid and comic books like Marvel Civil War. Our society isn't that far from it. This will be part 1 of the series. This one revolves around schools and how the schools are methods of segregation and control. More rants really. Not much else. Most of this is based on the system in the United States. A few places do it based on other methods but it is usually based on the outward look at first. Sometimes its from which region they're from.
There isn't much done around kindergarten. During the 1st and 2nd grade (age 6-8), western schools have a method of segregating children based on race. This is done discreetly. Individually, children are tested based on their skill and ability in English. Around 3rd grade or 4th grade people are segregated further based on their English skill. Race is no longer used to separate them. Instead, they are separated based on how Americanized they are. This continues until around the 7th grade and then it stops. Here another group takes over, this time its the military industrial complex.
When high school was first created, it was to prepare people to work in factories. They were created near the end of the 1800s for this purpose. Most high schools no longer do this, but the remains are still there. Many high schools still have remains of these. Where I come from, these are called Regional Occupational Programs (ROP). There are very few of these left, but they teach the same thing, how to work in certain industrial jobs such as auto repair (car manufacturing) and drafting (anything almost). Even though this doesn't really have an influence any more, something else they created does. The hierarchy still exists.
What is the hierarchy? The hierarchy is what is determined to be the most important and what is least important in society. This is almost the same in every part of the world. Mathematics and science are considered to be the most important so schools place an emphasis on them. The military also needs these skills. In actual jobs, math and science aren't really that important. Only a basic level of it is actually needed. Everything else is placed below them. At the same time teachers and other scholars are looked down upon yet they are probably some of the most important people in society. If you sit in class, pay attention, and do good in the important subjects, you will be considered a good student and be expected to go somewhere in life. If you are good in sports or are interested in the arts and not in much else, you are expected to have a short career and not be famous or anything. Good artists are hard to find because they are discouraged and considered to be unimportant overall. Separate schools such as art schools exist to emphasize the importance of these skills and interests, but in public education, they don't really matter or count towards anything other than electives or extra curricular activities.
