Long time ago, there was a legendary pirate called Captain Kidd. He, knowing the law was on his trail, traveled up the Jersey coast looking for the perfect spot to bury his stolen treasure. It was said that he had beholded a curse upon this treasure.

      Without knowing that the treasure was cursed, a brave adventurer decided to steal the treasure and pursued the crew of Captain Kidd, Dem Bones. As the brave adventurer pursues, the Dem Bones landed on an island. They came sailing up in a ship made of shadows. Their ship moved silently up the coast at the dark of the moon, and anchored near the shores of Sandy Hook. Two or three boats were lowered from the side, and they were filled up with the eager forms of glowing skeletons wearing cocked hats and tattered buccaneers garb. Around their waists were belts full of pistols and long cutlasses. The biggest of Dem Bones, the one that was probably the first mate had a skeletal parrot perched on his shoulder. 

      They carried the heavy trunks full of treasure onto the shore and scattered them all around. Then, they hauled out some kegs of whiskey and one of the them took out a fiddle. A phantom fire is lit on the sand, and Dem Bones started such a rowdy singing and dancing that the noise would wake the deads. When they were exhausted from the dancing, the glowing skeletons collapsed on the sand and started to tell stories about the ships they have captured and the treasure they have amassed. Some of them opened the big trunks and take out jewels and ropes of pearls and adorn themselves. Others toss gold coins back and forth as if they were a child's ball. 

      The brave adventurer could not believe what he was seeing and took a daring move and charged to the Dem Bones. They laughed heartily when they saw the adventurer. They took off their old rusty blades and started to fight. Amazingly, the brave adventurer managed to defeat the army of Dem Bones. After that, he started to collect the treasure. As soon as he touches the treasure, he was cursed. Everything that he had once possessed turned into skulls. He gone mad and committed suicide by cutting his throat. It was said that he had to join the army, Dem Bones after he was dead as it was part of the curse. The army of Dem Bones consisted of those who had tried to get the treasure from Captain Kidd, their souls were to never rest.
