Yeah...well it depends on how you store it...At the time I had not realized that it had been sitting in the kitchen drawer in a plastic bag for a week. That was only the second time I ever cried while cutting them but this one was like so friggin painful! GAH!

I don't think so. I think I remember someone telling me that the onion gaves off a a gas that is created through the acids.
