Alright guys, this Will be the second review I have ever done on this site, So I hope this helps out. Just thought I would throw out a review of the new Soul Calibur game.
I have been with this series since the first Soul Calibur game came out for the Sega Dreamcast (If I am correct it was one of the first games I actually got with the system but don't hold me to it.) Even though this was not actually the first game in the series (Soul Edge was the real first game) It was still a great starting point in the series. I have been a huge fan of Fighting games all my life, and since this is a fighting game with weapons (wooooo weapons!) It pretty much imediatly caught my interest. I must say, this is probably one of my favorite series of fighting games of all time so now ill do my best to create a good review of the newest addition of the series for you.
I am going to assume, that you people have at least tried one of the games. So I will only be comparing Soul Calibur IV and Soul Calibur III just for the sake of time, and also because I think they are the two best games of the series.
Presentation : Alright for what this game is, it's fantastic. There is a lot of unlockable contect (Do not have everything yet) which will keep you busy for a long time. The game is just put together well so that's on the plus side, and it works fantastic on the 360 (Oh I am only reviewing the 360 version. I bet the ps3 versison is just as good.)
Graphics : The characters are highly detailed, some of the best models ive seen on the 360 yet. At least in terms of when it comes to fighting games. The backgrounds on the stages you fight on and the stages themselves, also Put out some impressive effects.
Sound: An amazig selecetion of pieces that mix in very well with the fighting. If you hate the english voice cast you can always switch over to the jappenese one.
Gameplay: Plenty of characters with a large move set to keep you busy for a long time. The added feature of equipment and being able to break adds quite a large depth to the gameplay as well. The story mode is a little week, and I prefer the chess like game from the 3rd installment to the series.
Lasting Appeal: Could of used a little more unlockable content, but for what is there it's truly an amzing game.
My Closing Remarks: This is one well done fighter. Compared to Soul Calibur 3, I am not to happy that they took out the chess slike story mode, and the original fighting styles that they made for the Create a characters. Other than that, This game is a step up from what 3 is. The characters look awesome, the fighting is improoved for what it is, and it still has a pretty solid background story. This is not a game to miss if you love fighting games. I personally give soul calibur IV a 9/10
If you have any questions about the series, let me know. Sorry for no pictures. Ill make sure there in my next one. If you really want to find videos or pictures just look it up on google. Hope you enjoy!
