WoW US CMs: Over-Use of Ban-Hammer?

Category: Default Game: Default Posted on Sep 17, 2007 2:29 am

Another victim of Blizzard's whacky censorship policy gets the ban-hammer? Well, that's the claim of a certain blogger over at Gameriot. While trolling, flaming, and other nasty forms of communication on the official forums are commonplace, Lucsoke has bigger fish to fry. He details his ongoing concerns with the over-censoring of players with legitimate comments. He also suggests that the CMs and forums mods are going downright berserko with the bans, and that Blizz needs to reign in these wild horses. The irony is that, upon making these comments, his post got deleted and Lucsoke got banned himself.

We have experienced this before....remember the Eyonix incident of last year? He was roundly criticized for his professional deficiencies, and his response was to whip out the ban-hammer, punishing his critics. He even made up an excuse: he had been "threatened". Of course, we also had Tseric's "Roy Batty" meltdown ealier this year. He's either quit or got fired since.

The fact is, if the people being banned are the ones that are truly good players, this is going to cause trouble down the road. A CM who knows a thing or two about diplomacy is an absolute gold mine.

While we're unsure exactly what transpired in this particular incident at this point, we're certainly intrigued.  Thanks goes out to Lucsoke over at Gameriot for opening our eyes to an ongoing problem.
