0 Digg it    Middle-Earth Sized Patch Hits LOTRO

Lord of the Rings Online just got it's latest update, known as Book 11, earlier today. This was one big freakin' update, folks. Of couse, with an update this big, some significant changes are afoot (and no, that's not a hobbit pun), so this is mostly good news. Among the most significant new aspects of the game? Consider:

  • Player Housing (this is huuuuuge for many MMOers)
  • Some very significant Loremaster changes
  • Equally significant Minstrel updates

There's also new epic quests, new areas, new raid content...oh, hell, going through this update line by line would require a news post the size of The Silmarillion. If you've got 6 or 7 hours with nothing better to do, you can read it all, in detail, right here.

Will this update cure the "I use a sword to play my lute" animation?

In the video you will also see a bit about the new Weapon Customization feature.

There's a whole page dedicated to the new coolness that is to be CoH. So check it out, you'd be crazy not to. Here's what you can read more about:

  • Ouroboros System
  • Weapon Customization

Judge Judy: The Perfect Person to Rule on a Case Involving Video Games.

You don't see this every day: Judge Judy, self-important TV small claims arbiter, rules on a World of Warcraft case.  Note:  she doesn't know jack about WoW, MMOs, video games, or anything that's happened in American culture since the 1950s.

I'd really like to come up with some ironic commentary to add at this point, but the bottom line is that there is nothing, nothing more ironic than Judge Judy ruling on a World of Warcraft small claims case.

Check the video right here in our own Theatre of Doom.

Stargate Worlds has a tentative release date of Q4 2008, which means that I don't have to sit in my pajamas on Tuesday's watching reruns of SG:1 on Scifi channel, eating popcorn and toast. That will make my family happy!

To see whats up with the Stargate Worlds and to read various SGW dev interviews, check out TenTonHammer's archives.

0 Digg it    Warhammer: Our Bloody, Hands-On Impressions
  Views: 26  |  Category : Default |  Post time : 2007-10-22 02:58:54    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark

As you know, your faithful Wandering Goblin staffers spent the weekend in Los Angeles at the E for All gaming expo.  While there we got to spend considerable time doing what few others have had the chance to do:  we played Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.

WAR is quite possibly the most hotly anticipated MMO on the horizon.  Although we've seen and heard a lot of speculation about this game, much of it from the fanbois and fangirls that wait oh-so-patiently (NOT!) for its release, we actually got to experience this game ourselves.  We took our time, got bloody and dirty, and explored the game as thoroughly as time would allow.

Like gravity, Warhammer sucked geeks into the EA Mythic booth, never to release them.

Can any game live up to this much hype?  Much to our surprise, we found that this one is on track to not only live up to the hype, but might actually exceed it.  It's funny, it's ultra-violent, it's over the top.  Read more of our impressions right here.

The cross-pollination of TV and MMO gaming is definitely on the rise.  Today we have word that an upcoming episode of CSI: New York will feature a crime involving Second Life.

This special episode will take “the plot of an upcoming CSI episode into the virtual environment of Second Life.” The production company has established a private sim (or “island”) in Second Life, and characters from the series will actively pursue the perpetrator of a “first life” crime through the virtual world. Additionally, the virtual presence will allow viewers to participate in the drama by visiting the lab, the scene of the crime, and other locations from the series. The producers have apparently crafted fully rendered views of exact scenes seen in the TV series, and the action will move more or less seamlessly from one world to the next. Naturally, a cliffhanger is involved.

We've also got word via the Hellgate official site that on October 23rd, Hellgate will be featured on the new supernatural thriller show, Reaper.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The names of this woman, as well as her gigantic cat, have been changed to protect the innocent.
