EA Mythic, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. , unveiled new details for the crafting system in Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning™ (WAR). With two crafting abilities (Apothecary and Talisman Making) and four supporting gathering skills (Cultivating, Magical Salvaging, Scavenging and Butchering), the MMORPG incorporates an innovative crafting system to aid players in their fights on the battlefield’s of WAR.

The Apothecary crafting ability allows players to create all manner of useful potions, lotions and powders to heal, enhance stats, or cause damage to others. By combining various ingredients, players will even have the opportunity to “design” their own potions according to their needs. The second crafting ability, Talisman Making, will allow players to make useful items imbued with magic powers to be worn by a character.

WAR’s gathering skills produce the raw materials required for Apothecary and Talisman Making:

Magical Salvaging lets players break down magical items, converting them int

Drawing on many diverse aspects of the different games on the market, Mythos provides a fun alternative to the standard "level grind" commonly found in most MMOs out there. It's fun, absorbing and has a fairly easy learning curve where game mechanics are concerned. The game uses the "personal instance" method from Guild Wars, where a player has a map to a specific area that is theirs alone and there are travel "hubs" that are social areas. In these hubs, players can set up groups and interact with NPCs, gain quests and use a bank system.

Leaving the hubs will take the player to instanced areas. These areas have a small "zone" that leads to the specific dungeon and each dungeon is detailed on the character map so there is no "wandering around lost", which happens so frequently in other games. Arriving at the dungeon "zone", you will find a merchant and a guide next to the zone in location so you can sell off any loot you may have and purchase mana and health potions, recall charms (used in the dungeon, they are a temporary "gate" so you can leave, sell and return to the same place in the dungeon) and some magic i

Football Superstars is a free to play football MMO, published by UK Company CyberSports. It is the world’s first virtual footballing world - an interactive online virtual world designed for football fans to live a top footballer’s lifestyle and is due for release in late 2008.

Once downloaded, players re-create themselves online as a footballer and then have free reign in the state of the art interactive virtual world. Players can play their way from three-a-side up to eleven-a-side matches, gaining attributes and skills in order to specialise in their chosen playing position.

Once the basic skills have been learned on the training pitch, players can choose between unranked casual games, ranked Football Superstars league matches organised by the game and player organised league matches with player manager clubs. All of which will be backed up by extensive web support from developer Monumental Games, which would include downloadable replay videos of every competitive match. All the players – with the exception of the goalkeepers – are controlled by humans, leaving it as close an experience to the real thing as you can get, with the run of play shaped by the twe

0 Digg it    P2P: Is It Worth the Money?

Although the number of people subscribed to games that charge monthly fees for access continues to grow, we've all heard protests from those that refuse to pay any kind of regular fees to play a video game. Many are accustomed to the traditional retail offerings: buy the box, take it home, and play it forever, or until you get bored of it. By comparison, the $10-$15 per month a lot of MMOGs charge may look rather steep, but are they really a rip-off, or are they good value for your entertainment dollars?

Versus Other Video Games
My experience has been that video games, in general, are among the cheapest forms of entertainment to be found, particularly if you don't take the cost of the hardware into account. On the PC, gamers have quite a few free games to choose from, assuming they have an Internet connection.

Free is a good price, but free games don't always live up to the growing expectations of gamers.
At retail a single-player game can cost anywhere from $20 to $80, and usually provides dozens of hours of entertainment, potentially more if the game can replayed using a different class, faction, or gameplay mode. Even if you play through it only once and it takes 30-40 hours, o
