Yes, the news that we were becoming Hello Kitty Online Insider last week was actually a joke, and we're back covering the World of Warcraft and all of its ten million players (most of which showed up on the Isle of Quel'danas this week, as you can see above, courtesy of WI reader Sync). Here's a look at the most popular and interesting posts from Joystiq's Azeroth-inclined sister site, WoW Insider.

0 Digg it    Second Life update: log in problems resolved
  Views: 117  |  Category : public |  Post time : Apr 06, 2008    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark
Second Life update: log in problems resolved - Image 1Yesterday, servers conked out and prevented people from logging in and enjoying Linden Lab's MMORPG, Second Life. But not to worry anymore, an official announcement has been made that this problem has been resolved.

The reason behind this problem was that there were multiple issues with various ISPs. Majority of service providers have been bundling network links into large virtual links between different data centers. The bundles experienced some abnormalities causing sever packet/data loss of over 50%.

In order to resolve this, the company behind the MMORPG had to force player to log out of the game so that they could pinpoint what was causing it. Players were forced to log out so that the log in problems wouldn't be causing more damage. It's a good thing that the ISPs were able to remedy the situation.

Now, you guys can free roam the world of Second Life without having problems signing in. We'll keep you guys updated with the latest news on the game.

In the world that will be EA Mythic's Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, you have to choose the most suitable career for you. If you happen to fancy magic above anything else, you might want to be a Magus.

The Magus takes all of its powers from the Disc of Tzeentch, a platform where the Magus must forever mount to access its limitless powers. There is more to this platform though - it is alive. Powered by the magic of the Aethyr, this symbiosis offers nothing but destruction.

As a Magus, you need the use of tools and the mastery of the Disc of Tzeentch to fully realize your vast potential. You are versatile in that you have a counter to all attacks, but by yourself, you are weak because you have limited defensive capabilities. A quick and agile set of attacks can put you down.

Although its power is enough reason to be feared, the wardrobe of the Magus is no pushover as well. With a light ornamental armor with elaborate robes, a Chaos-inscribed staff and a living Disc of Tzeentch mount, the Magus never lacks for style in terror.

0 Digg it    EA marches Zubo to DS
  Views: 103  |  Category : public |  Post time : Mar 31, 2008    Comments: 1  |  Bookmark

Last Friday, Ubisoft revealed its latest attempt to woo the tween demographic, announcing that it would be returning to the rhythm genre with Imagine Rock Star, an arcade-style music game slated to arrive for the Nintendo DS this June. Today, Ubisoft partial owner EA said it would be targeting a similar sect with Zubo, a "music-based rhythm-action game" aimed at boys and girls under 12 that is expected to arrive exclusively for the DS this fall.

A product of EA"s Casual Entertainment Label, Zubo promises a rhythm action game experience that sounds not entirely unlike Sony Worldwide Studios" recently released Patapon, where players will dictate battles by tapping their stylus in time with the music. Tykes will be posited as the head of the fanciful Zubalon army and must use the whimsical Zubos to battle the megalomaniacal forces of the Zombas.

Players will be able to collect and strengthen 55 different Zubos, and the game also packs in a number of minigames. Zubo is being developed by EA"s Bright Light studio in Guildford, UK.

0 Digg it    Wedding System, any difference?
  Views: 127  |  Category : public |  Post time : Mar 17, 2008    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark

[Shanghai, March 14, 2008] Striving in a turbulent world, even aloof and proud heroes will feel lonely. The World of Kung Fu doesn't want to lack in the department of love, so a wedding system was developed for all the characters in the game. Whether you are a hero free from worldly cares or a hermit hiding in the remote mountains, you can get married.

First, the characters who want to get married must have engagement rings, and then they can go to the matchmaker. As in real life, the place where you have your marriage can be decorated! Choose big red lanterns, floral baskets, balloons, 999 (a traditional lucky number in China) roses and much more. You can invite your friends and other characters to attend your wedding, and they can let off colorful fireworks for you. After the wedding, the bride and groom get a title identifying them as a wedded couple.

I think there is Wedding System in mostly every game...why do ppl want to get married ingame? Is it interesting?or something else..I do not know.

0 Digg it    Some updates in Entropia Universe
  Views: 89  |  Category : public |  Post time : Mar 09, 2008    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark

MPOGD recently took a look at the fascinating online cosmos known as Entropia Universe just after the Consumer Electronics Show in January. Fast forwarding to the Game Developers Conference, we decided to stop for a chat with John Bates, the Business Development and Strategic Marketing at MindArk’s Entropia Universe, to check on the latest updates from this rapidly evolving and growing virtual world.

Creative Kingdom (CKI), an international architectural firm behind several spectacular themed resorts and hotels, is pairing up with the Thai government in creating a massive $7 billion multimedia and IT complex called “Cyber City”. Before that monumental complex ever sees the light of day, a vision of CKI’s finished project will set sail online within Entropia as a dedicated planet, complete with a virtual world economy that’s been the signature feature of Entropia since its launch. “CKI is the first confirmed group we have working with us who are from a completely creative background,” Bates added. “We’re as interested as anyone else to see how they use their architectural and creative skills in building a planet from the ground up.”

Bates also excitedly shared a glimpse inside other s
