Change, transition and evolution are concepts which act as the primary foundation for the process of adaptation, this being the acquisition or development of specific attributes or capabilities required for basic survival and also growth and prosperity. Though disputed, the process of evolution is the structure upon which all life was formed and undeniably the path to the future, weather that be social, political, environmental, psychological, creative and artistic or cognitive. Today, during these transitional and contemporary years what we, as a society, are seeing is the process of adaptation and change taking place in a variety of areas that, either directly or indirectly, hold profound ramifications and significance for us all. Though it is without question that such changes and notions of progress spark fear in many sectors throughout the global community and outrage in others, what I shall present to you throughout this essay is but a simple question – A question which I myself, as an academic and a writer, have come to ask myself many times before – Who am I, but a lone individual, to stand against or pass judgement upon natural processes which have been set in

Brought to you by Outspark, Project Powder is focused around the extreme winter’s sport known as snowboarding. Yet, unlike previous sports related games which have been released in past years, Project Powder implements common MMORPG features such as character customisation and even quests.

At the time of the closed beta test there were three characters to choose from. However, which one you pick has no bearing on the game itself. Characters can be customised through equipping items, clothing and other such things purchased from the item store. Here, you can also buy new boards or improve the one you are using through using various materials which can be won from races, given out as prizes for the completion of in-game tasks or simply as a random event.

From the waiting room players can select several modes of play including coin, which sees players collecting randomly generated coins, race and battle in which various power-ups can be picked up and used throughout the race.

The control method for the game is simple and doesn’t take very long to get use to. You steer your board by using the left and right arrow keys, up to accelerate and back to slow down.

As with other MMORPG games, once players have logged in they are given the option of creating a new character. This is done by selecting from one of the games avatar foundations. Of course the appearance of your character can be customised through activating various facets of the game. For example clothing or armour can be purchased from a store and then equipped or, if you’re very lucky, taken as the spoils of battle.

The game-play itself is exceedingly simple and anyone who has played other popular MMO games such Trickster or Mix Master should be able to pick it up in five seconds flat. What you will quickly come to notice is that just about every action can be done by using
