hmm.. yeah sometimes.. they go over the top with no dressing the female characters.. properly.. I mean cool they have a sexy look, but sometimes they basically don't have anything one..

there's a reason why that some of them dress the way they do. in many cases clothing restricts movements up to a certain extent. if its not armor, its pretty much pointless. the blade and soul characters beeing show have no clothing because their combat style requires high flexibility and movement. something that would be impossible for someone wearing a mage robe or heavy suit of armor. clothing is there to make your character look a certain way, but sometimes its just impracticle. the best example was in the manga tenjo tenge where one of the characters took her swords and sliced off her heavy dress because it would just get in the way.

Beauty and sex appeal are away to attract ppl. Just like fasion. In any games(mostly or every) there will be prescense of sex appeal. I am directing this to female characters. I am not into male characters, they are lame.

The first pic of blade&Soul is an overkill. But I am impress of how they depict a sexy lady. I have to say she looks so real -.-'. And yeah I agree with you . The suit is inappropriate. Hmm... she might be late for a catwalk on Victoria's secrets Vanity fair Hahaha...

I'm sure in real life that suit can protect you from any harm. Even a mosquito's bite, or even a punch

Well.... you basicly fall in love with the FACE and general shapes of a girl.        so these mmo charackters should not make small...chested girls unconfident.      

Apart from that it's just good entertainment.            It's renaissance, celebrating the human body.    

Offcourse it has to fit in the game universe :)

So, when it comes down to marketing the game, most likely it's a bunch of businessmen in suits & ties with strict dresscodes deciding the images that will be used and for those guys having girls with big boobs goes well when it comes to fantasy.

@ Naridas its ok, Im looking forward to playing Blade & soul too, It looks beautiful and I would like to help defend your statement that if anyone has a problem with his artwork or game they ought to look that he just doesnt draw woman in very little clothing, he has all styles of woman in his game, I saw Cute, Sexy, Elegant, Its not like hes only focusing on one type of girl, I agree with you that people shouldnt insult him especially since hes not being one-sided If they don't want their girl to have skippy clothing then just pick a different oufit.

Naridas I did read other people's comment thank you, and I do know the definition of a slut. I Did not say woman who are Big chested are Sluts I said "slutty and big" AND meaning they make them in skippy clothing and than add Large bust sizes to match. I am a size 12 woman with a D cup bust line, and i dont find myself a "Slut" for having a developed chest.

I was meerly saying that not all men are THAT shallow and only want to play woman in skippy clothing  and for the gaming industry to asume that all men only want to play sexy woman is a bit insultive to their male customers.  Btw You wrote about these 'tatters', try to imagine female in fullplate armor(real fullplate not these popular imitations in games/films). Which would be better; playing in set where; breasts, etc can be/are shown or in armor in which u looks like male(and all starts with: 'yo dude!')?
 Personally i have hope that my characters(usually females xD<cus F's are more interesting objects to draw tham males^^') won't remind nun. For me ideal resolution would be(as someone said already) similiar to that from B'n'S where u can choose ur own 'lvl of nudity'.
 Majority of mmos are made in asia(mostly in korea/japan) and they have other sight on fantasy and clothes of these universes. Last but not least, don't be childlish(while reading whole article i had that one feeling about it ^^') there are ppl who don't want to see boobs and nudity, but others want to, and you forgot about it(jsut personal opinion). There is a reason that breast are shown. It gives feminicity to the warrior or bowman or whichever class to show that it is a woman and to show that women can fight and battle. Also curves that show give an elegance to the fighting movement.

well i dont see much girls complaining but i do see you point. Like a male warrior wil have like 6 sets of armour and the female will have like one set that covers her jugs and her lower hole. Still they have the same defence as the male. to me that make no sense but still its not going 2 die out. i dont really care much

It's time to change that mind set then. Girls no longer are confined to the steryotype of stting at the mall or of looking all day at a fashion mag trying to be cute. We are getting more girl gamers and some would like to see more that just boobs boobs and more boobs. I'm not saying we  should ban boobs just give the girl gamers that don't want too look at boobs all day a choice. Well, frankly sex sells and not sexy men, sexy women sell. To appeal to the girl/girly types of players, they make cutesy. To appeal to the average male gamer who like tits, then show them. It's a bit sexist on your part to assume that all female gamers play females though...You know what they say about MMORPG right? Mostly Men Online Role-Playing Girls... For the most part, females aren't even factored into the demographics when it comes to selling games, unless they are cutesy, and then it's pushing to the typical teenage female or younger. You have to remember where these games are coming from too? Not every country is gonna spit out a Fable like game where you can be gay or dress anyway you want too...It's gonna be a traditional rooted field that chics look good in half naked cosplay but don't play games.

Only two peoples that get it. I find it also quite ironic that the majority of commentators here are male. Of course, we shouldn't expect you not to like breasts and hot barely clothed warrior women. But seriously, shouldn't you be asking this to us female gamers? Some of you menfolk handle female gamers like it's still a taboo. This is the 21th century; not every female character you speak to in an MMO is a fat 40-year old guy behind a PC. Still I wish some one would take female gamers in mind aside from the cutesy crap they think we all like. I'd like to see all games give you a choice of weather you want your caracter to look like a slut or not. That way the guys can get their jollies and the girls don't aren't forced play as characters that  look like hookers.

I'm just curious to why does it bother you so much? Don't you think you're being a little immature? Granted I'm a guy and I love them breasts, but I dont think it should matter how much or how little the characters are wearing. I mean, given the image she's pretty much wearing a highly custom designed swimsuit thats being held on by double-sided tape (my interpretation of what she's wearing XD): and on the other hand, you hav the guy bare-chested. If you are going to complain about showing too much of the body for the ladies, why not comment on the guys as well? I mean, come on here...isn't this kinda sexist? It's not like she's actually naked or anything.

Why not just play another character of the same type but has a different set clothes on. Hell! If you can choose your own clothing, just put more clothes on and cover yourself up. Before I even typed this up, I even asked my girlfriend on her opinion on this topic, and she sides with me on this one. Why should the developers change the entire thing for everyone just because one person (or people) doesn't like something? We all have our own opinions about what's what, but we can't force our views on others.

So like I said, if you think it's too little he or she (she in this case), then either don't play that specific character and choose another, or  not play at all (if you take this option, I'll just think thats a bit extreme but that's just me). Now if you'll excuse me, I have a girlfriend to PK.

On a serious note, the huge breasts that games portray in their artwork are used as a gimmic to get their games played and sold. That is what they are aiming for. So as long as the people who dont mind and actually play for this particularly reason beat the people who want it to change they wont change.

You failed to notice that the guy behind the girl with barely any clothes has like no clothes either. So maybe they dont actually need armor and have like super rock hard skin? Who are we to judge on what is more realistic in a fantasy based game... Anything is plausible!

i believe what you are saying is right but i believe blade soul should be an exception because the illustrator HyungTae Kim is a known (well not exacty but most of them have big breasts) artist for making big breasts so its just the way he draws designs and such and also in the interview the company said the weapon is more important and armor is less needed and plus how are you suppose to going jumping around if you have heavy armor on you and its also mostly based on martial arts which has less to do with weapons and armor but for other games i say should put more clothing

I'm a female in real and I'm not embarassed at all to play female characters.  I like having a pretty character in the games and, well, at least the appropriate sexy armors (not the kind where you can see nearly the whole bare butt and silly things like that).  I really like to have a pretty sexy character personally.  What I hate is when males make a character and strip off the clothes and run around saying "Wanna feel my breasts?!" and stupid things like that.  And some of the oversized breasts are also a little silly, well, a LOT silly.  Some actually make me laugh.

 

That first picture you have up the male has even less on than the female tho, and well most guys aren't shaped like the big muscle bound hunks that they play as in so many games either, although people rarely complain about that one.

Love this article, lol. Argent is right, breast is just a trick with the aim to get more their games sold...honestly it's impressive if you see it for the first time, it is like "wow, a warrior girl can be dressed like this? Cool" but will get sick when it spreads everywhere...
