Well I think its about time I do a Neosteam review. I have been playing this game since the open beta came out and so far this game looks like its going on my list of my favorites. From the good, the bad, and the great here is my short review.

The community is very nice from what i seen. While people don’t tend to help you right away when you ask, when you do get answers you get very good ones. People are generally very nice but tend to cuss a lot since the filter is not very good. You always find that one guy who wants to abuse it.

The other thing that I find good is the PVE. Neosteam has a nice environment with lots of places to go and train. There are level recommendations on the map but not requirements which makes it very easy to get Power leveled. That’s good becuase it helps the lower levels out. It’s easy to get around, easy to deal with, and an exciting environment you just don’t see enough of in MMO's today. Its been a while since I have seen big open fields where you can just run to without worries about having to pay anything or reaching a level to get to. Now there are some downsides to this, because the place is so big, the quests make you run around a lot. Some people may not like this, but im not one of those people. I don’t mind all the running since it gives me a chance to get used to place. This does make it harder when you go invade for pvp but that is not a big deal because it just makes it more exciting. Now lets move on to the next thing.

Well even with the vast environment of the game the graphics are a little dull and somwhat choppy. It might just be me and my computer the glow effects are a bit boxed around the thing glowing and the characters are not very detailed. In fact, you need to zoom in very far into the character to be able to see anything at all. The next annoying thing is the guild system. There is pretty much nothing going on there. You can only start with 30 members and it costs 7 Million gold to upgrade. Yes, that is a lot of money in this game and when you do upgrade you don’t get anything out of it. No special guild events, no way to hold guild fund. The only thing you can do is have members and talk to them. Last but not least the questing in this game is dull. I know I talked about being able to run around and explore with them. Yes, you can do that but that is where it ends. Based on the quests I have done they give poor exp rewards, bad amounts of money, but somewhat good equipment rewards. Although these equipment will most likely not be the ones for your class, what most people do is just end up selling it to NPC’s to earn some money.

For me the best thing is the cute little Pom race. I don’t think I have seen anything like it, in any other game. When you run around and the character hops up and down, its just the coolest thing you have ever seen. Now for the actual great thing the pvping. While there are no special features when you go pvp other then a rank you will achieve most likely after the open beta. This does not matter at all. Pvping here has no requirements what so ever. This was a real great thing for me seeing as most games I play have a level 30 requirement to pk and when you do kill someone you lose some kind of points.

The other thing I would like to mention that makes this game very unique is the skills that you obtain. There are Normal skills, Trait skills, and machine skills. Machine skills? What are those? Do I get them after I bring out a GIANT machine? Well, no. Machine skills are obtained when you add a machine core to every single piece of equipment except accessary. This adds a large range of usable skills which makes pvp a lot more interesting as you dont know what to expect from the opponent. This is a very nice element of the games because from what I know it has never been done before.
