I can say that these last 2 years, the korean game industry has made a big investment in some FPS game development, as all big publishers have their own FPS, and mostly time it has no many different points between the games. Btw they try to innovate sometimes.

In this "article" i'll talk a little about Point Blank from NCsoft.

I remember that 5 years ago or so Counter Strike was my main vice, I played it for 2-3 years and since i stopped playing, i haven't found any other FPS that keeps me in front of my computer for a long time, until now. I started to play Point Blank last month and it's really an amazing game so I decided to talk a little about it.

Point Blank is a MMOFPS (Multiplayer Massive Online First Person Shooter) published by NCsoft and developed by Zapetto. PB brings the best from "Counter-Strike genre" but I believe it is much more fun, as the game has a leveling up system where the player can earn experience in game (killing of course), in a system similar to military ranks-each level is an insignia and title.

Staff Sergeant ~ Sergeant Major (1~3 Chevrons with Sublevels)
Second Lieutenant ~ Captain (1~3 Diamonds with Sublevels)
Major ~ Colonel (1~3 Flowers with Sublevels)
Brigadier General ~ General of the Army (1~5 Stars)

There are 3 games modes at moment, 1) Death match where you and your team have to kill as many other players as possible. The team that reaches 100, 120, 140 or 160 Kills first wins, unless the time limit is met. A characteristic in the Death match mode is that all maps are mirrored - both teams has the same opportunity in the both sides of the map.
2) Explosion Mission: it's like on Counter-Strike, Red team has the objective to plant the bomb and Blue team has the objective to hinder them or defuse the bomb if necessary.
3) Destroy Mission: in this mode each team has a safe point where they need to protect and at the same time try to destroy the opponent's safe point.



PB has 12 different maps at moment, between this 12 maps has the Giran map, a castle town from Lineage 2.



(Updates with new weapons or maps are frequent).

About weapons: The game has a big variety of weapons, some of these weapons are standard. Some better weapons or extensions you need/can buy in the "store" for a limited period (1, 7 or 30 days) using PB money points. no cash.



Point Blank visual and audio effects are cool and very realistic, explosions, weapons sounds, the game's physic in general, graphic resemble the Source Engine by Valve.



Any secret whit the commands.



The games has also a general rank where are listed all players by Experience, number of Kill/Death and number of Headshots. (very competitive).



NCsoft have used "the Lineage 2 name" to bring players from it and "migrate" to their FPS (how?), They have created a special map based in one of the most acquaintance Lineage 2's city, Giran castle town, for Point Blank. I really think it was a good idea (marketing), since I start to play because this ^^;
Who don't want take a M4A1 or an AK-47 and walk for giran killing some people (?)
