The Sony Online Entertainment Media Event Report over at RPG Vault looks at a quartet up upcoming SOE titles including EverQuest II: Rise of Kunark: Although EverQuest II didn't achieve the leading market position its older sibling held for quite some time, it has acquired a deserved reputation as a game that solidly fulfills the needs of its particular audience, which appears to include quite a few members who can relate to the Norrathian world from having played the first title. As a result, a lot of the expansion content consists of familiar places, creatures et al, albeit in a different time frame.
The most noteworthy element is probably the new race, the Sarnak. They have two significant characteristics; they can breathe fire, and they can walk on the ocean floor. The primary story or lore element revolves around them and their wars with the Iksar Empire; while you work to learn about them, you also have the chance to find a number of lost artifacts.
