Gravity Interactive announced that the open beta for the horror MMO Requiem Bloodymare will begin on Thursday, May 15, 2008
The World of Ethergia beckons to worthy Temperions to challenge the horrors that walk Ethergia's lands. An opportunity to take up this challenge is coming on May 15, 2008. We will begin our Open Beta test on May 15, 2008 at 7pm PDT. This Open Beta test session will be open to all currently registered accounts as well as all the new Temperions that decide to join us. All accounts and characters will be reset prior to this test session and will be placed in a new starting zone called Truba Island. The new Requiem game client, which is available on our Client Download Section, is necessary to play during the Open Beta test. Please note that this is still part of the beta testing process, and as such, does not fully represent the final product. Players who participate during this period may experience some lag or connection issues as we work to fine-tune and optimize our server capacity. If you're interested ,check it out at Requiem

In an SEC filing, Korean-based developer Gravity (Ragnarok Online) disclosed that in October, it received a notice that U.S.-based online game developer Perpetual, in which Gravity invests, would be liquidating all of its assets. According to the filing, the notice said that a separate company called Perpetual LLC would "shall liquidate the Assets, wind down Perpetual, and distribute the net liquidation proceeds to creditors of Perpetual." The date on which Gravity stated the notice was sent, October 10th, is the same day that Perpetual announced that its PC MMORPG Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising would be put on hold indefinitely. Just prior to that announcement, the company announced it would lay off between 30 and 40 employees, as it did the first time that Gods and Heroes was delayed, reportedly due to the need for further beta testing. Gravity stated that it does not expect to recover any of the $9 million investment it made in Perpetual in 2006, and that the loss will be reflected in its financial statement for 2007. However, it is unclear whether this announcement also affects Star Trek Online, Perpetual's other MMO, which was still believed to be in development - or whet

Autodesk has announced that developers NCSoft, Webzen and Gravity are using Autodesk's 3D modeling, animation and rendering software in the development of their upcoming MMO titles -- AION, Huxley and Ragnarok Online II, respectively.
NCSoft plans to launch AION, a fantasy flying combat and role-playing game in 2008, and are developing its asset creation pipeline using Autodesk 3ds Max. According to Autodesk, Webzen is employing Autodesk 3ds and Autodesk Maya for the multiplayer shooter Huxley, just as it did on its previously-released Soul of the Ultimate Nation.
In addition to its upcoming MMO titles Requiem Online, Pucca Racing and W-Baseball, Gravity is also using Autodesk tools for the upcoming sequel to major Korean MMO Ragnarok Online, Ragnarok Online II. The company says it will feature full-3D graphics and sophisticated character expressions in place of the bubble emotes featured in the first Ragnarok game.
Park Young Woo, Ragnarok Online II producer at Gravity, said that using 3ds Max helped in his goal of creating "cute yet extremely expressive and natural facial animations" for the game characters.
NCSoft art director Kim Hyung Joon also noted the broad penetration of 3ds
