Sony Online Entertainment on Sunday denied an Indian media report that said Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd, part of the Anil Ambani-led ADAG group, was buying Sony Online and said the company was not up for sale. India's Economic Times, citing anonymous sources and an unnamed Zapak official, had earlier reported that Zapak was set to buy Sony Online for about $300 million. "Sony Online Entertainment is not for sale and the report that Zapak is purchasing Sony Online Entertainment is completely erroneous and false," a company spokesperson for San Diego-based Sony Online told Reuters over telephone. The Sony Online Entertainment Media Event Report over at RPG Vault looks at a quartet up upcoming SOE titles including EverQuest II: Rise of Kunark: Although EverQuest II didn't achieve the leading market position its older sibling held for quite some time, it has acquired a deserved reputation as a game that solidly fulfills the needs of its particular audience, which appears to include quite a few members who can relate to the Norrathian world from having played the first title. As a result, a lot of the expansion content consists of familiar places, creatures et al, albeit in a different time frame.
The most noteworthy element is probably the new race, the Sarnak. They have two significant characteristics; they can breathe fire, and they can walk on the ocean floor. The primary story or lore element revolves around them and their wars with the Iksar Empire; while you work to learn about them, you also have the chance to find a number of lost artifacts.

SOE is a big name in the MMO business. Perhaps too big a name. Perpetual Entertainment has clarified Sony Online Entertainment's role in their upcoming MMO Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, assuming full publishing duties while SOE will continue to handle marketing and retail distribution of the title. Previously listed as co-publishers, Warcry explains that the move is to make sure credit for the development of the game goes solely to Perpetual as this is their fledgling project, with the power to define them as a company. I am wondering if similar steps will be taken for Pirates of the Burning Sea, which SOE is publishing for Flying Lab. With both games being presented at major gaming events by SOE the confusion over roles is sure to come up in Pirate's case as well.
