0 Digg it    New War Channel Provides Limitless Player vs. Player Action

Players in Cabal Online can engage in PvP action, whenever and more importantly wherever they choose.

May 05, 2008 Now players in OGPlanet's massively multiplayer online role-playing game CABAL ONLINE can fully satisfy their desire for brutal, no-holds-barred player vs. player combat.

In CABAL ONLINE's recently launched War Channel, the rules that normally govern polite society no longer apply. Instead of being limited to civilized, mutually agreed-upon duels, players can engage their enemies whenever and wherever they choose. Each player kill in the War Channel will be rewarded with one Honor Point.

"CABAL ONLINE players now have the ability to experience all-out player vs. player combat if they so choose," said Don Choi, COO of OGPlanet. "Many MMO players consider PvP the ultimate test of skill, and providing a space for unhindered PvP battle lets them really test their skills under pressure."

While the open format of the War Channel allows for chaotic free-for-all battle, teams and nations can also join together to occupy cities, thus beginning on ongoing struggle for control. The War Channel lives up to its name, with the option of engaging in a fu

0 Digg it    Auran Games announce Fury Europe launch
  Views: 47  |  Category : Default |  Post time : Oct 25, 2007    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark
European gamers who, after joining the Fury Challenge, couldn't get enough of this PvP-centric game will be pleased to find out that Fury will be launched in Europe on October 26. To prepare for the occasion, Auran Games are working on a small patch for the MMORPG which will go live later in the week.

For those who haven't heard of Fury, this MMORPG sports a unique combat system that allows players to use almost all of their abilities instantly. In addition to this, most spells don't need to "channel" allowing magic users to run around and dodge incoming attacks while casting. Playing the game online is free though more hardcore gamers who want to be able to connect to the servers without having to wait may opt to avail of the Immortal subscription plan.

So far Fury already has a pretty solid community supporting the game, so players won't have to search for opponents to play against. If this MMORPG becomes even more popular, we might be seeing Auran Games working on a sequel.

0 Digg it    $2 Million Fury Tourney Begins
  Views: 27  |  Category : Default |  Post time : Sep 29, 2007    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark

A common problem with many nascent massively multiplayer online games is convincing enough testers to put up with a not-yet-finished product long enough to accurately check maximum server loads. However, that shouldn't be a problem for Australia-based developer Auran, as today marks the beginning of the Fury Challenge, a $2 million prize tournament for the fantasy MMOG.

Beginning today, interested players can sign up for Fury's open beta and begin competing in the first weekend-long tourney. The second weekend competition begins October 5, and those who preorder the game will be able to partake in a midweek practice session running from September 31 to October 4.

Players can compete as many times as they want in Fury's seven different tournament ladders, but only their top 10 performances will be logged for prize considerations. A sampling of the prizes at stake include Dell XPS computers, Nvidia GeForce 8600 graphics cards, Logitech peripherals, and GameStop gift cards ranging from $ 10 to $ 500 dollars. A full rundown on the tournament, as well as beta registration, Fury client download, and a full list of prizes, is available at the Fury Challenge Web site.

Auran Games today announced that the prize pool for “Fury Challenge” has now officially topped $2 million dollars. The Open Beta event has been extended to run over 4 weekends from September 14 to October 7, and will provide players from all over the world the chance to test their skills playing “FURY”, the 100% Player versus Player MMO which will be released in October.

“We want to put players on notice that FURY is serious fun and we have set our goal at nothing less than being the Number one PvP game in the world,” said Tony Hilliam, Auran CEO and Executive Producer on FURY. “By putting together over $2M in prizes for our Open Beta event, I think we’ve started to show that we’re already a contender for the title.”

“In a market where the big names and big publishers get most of the attention, we figured we had to do something a bit different to be noticed,” said Brian Cooke, Auran Director of Marketing. “Fury is a competitive game, and so putting together this amazing prize pool for our players should start to turn a few heads in our direction. From there, we’re confident our game will keep them excited.”

“During Fury Challenge we’re capping player Ranks at an easily obtainable leve

Akella Online has signed an agreement with leading Australian game developer, Auran to distribute the highly anticipated MMOPvP game Fury across Russia (and CIS).

Built on the Unreal Engine 3, Fury is being acclaimed as the ultimate PvP experience, combining the best elements of the MMORPG and FPS genres. A unique matchmaking system ensures that battles are fair and evenly contested. Each game type has different goals as well as a time limit to ensure that players can achieve meaningful results with just a small investment of time. Fury’s unique incarnation system also allows players to bypass the rigid class system of traditional MMORPGs. Players can mix and match any combination of over 400 abilities available in the game to create multiple and diverse versions of their Avatars; switching them around at will between Warzone battles.

Announced for release in October 2007, Fury is shaping up to be a leading competitive PvP title with its bold blend of Avatar progression, combat, pacing and game types. Set in a mythical alternate universe with a distinct Eurasian style where players fight not only for themselves, but for the survival and success of their realm (server).

Fury is Australian developer Auran's free-to-play persistent online action RPG that hopes to turn the world of MMO PvP on its ear while at the same time fostering renewed interest in the pizza delivery profession. Being distributed in the states by the always fun to say Gamecock, no news has been forthcoming about the possibility of a European release of the game until now. Codemasters Online has entered into a distributorship partnership with Auran to bring Fury to all of the good little European girls and boys this October. Codemasters Online VP and GM David Solari gushes.

"We believe this unique and groundbreaking product will appeal to MMO and action shooter gamers alike. It's going to drive forward the online persistent market with Fury's new style of free to play, instant online action."

We'll see how that works out for them once Fury is unleashed this fall. For now enjoy the furious press release, after the jump.

0 Digg it    Some FAQ about Lotr's PVP
  Views: 42  |  Category : Default |  Post time : Sep 29, 2006    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark

The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ is the world?s first and only MMOG based on the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Players can experience the most famous fantasy world of all time, exploring and adventuring their heroes through the vast reaches of Middle-earth in the fight against the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron.

1 : Is it going to be consensual?

While the way in which this will be implemented in the game is still under discussion, we do know, and can share, three things:

PvP combat in LOTRO will be consensual. If you do not wish to participate, you do not have to.

PvP is NOT the focus of the game. It will primarily be part of our "elder play."

No matter what form PvP in LOTRO takes, we are committed to making sure it fits into Middle-earth in as lore-appropriate a way as possible.

At this time the bones of our PvP system are well in place and now it?s just fleshing out the details. We?ll be releasing more information in the next several weeks. I have actually seen it implemented in the game, spoken to the game systems team, and reviewed the dev diary in which we?ll be giving an overview. NONE of these plans include a FFA PvP server. All servers will have

0 Digg it    Some info about Hero's Journey PVP

PvP is something that almost every gamer is avid about. Is there anything more fun then to duel with your friends one on one to see who is better? Or have a massive battlefront in which multiple operations are going on simultaneously? No. Thats why Simutronics has implemented a new type of PvP. This a direct quote from what was said during an interview with Simutronics.
First, the Disclaimer: Our plans for Player vs Player activities in HJ are quite elaborate. Some of it will be available at launch and other parts will be made available with future expansions. What is described here is the intent of the design and may not reflect the actual state of PvP at release. PvP will exist in two basic flavors:

Individual, Clan, and Guilds
This is PvP that pits participants in duels, games, tournaments and PvP quests. Not only will players be able to challenge other players to duels, Guilds and Clans will be able to challenge other Guilds and Clans to duels. Additionally, individual players, clans and guilds will be able to compete for honors in game tournaments, which they can use for bragging rights or to obtain new benefits. In fact, we want to allow guilds and clans to create their own to
