In a weblog post lamenting Hellgate: London's lack of success and describing the developer's work environment as "depressing," Flagship audio and gameplay programmer Guy Somberg claims that the studio's staff, including programmers, accountants, human resources personnel, and artists, has been leaving "in droves."
Somberg has since taken down the post but a cache of the page is still available. According to the programmer, Flagship's founders are still at the company but are working on projects outside of Hellgate: "The only one still actively on Hellgate is [technology director Tyler Thompson], but Tyler’s not programming anymore; he spends all of his time on management activities."
With rumors of even more artists and programmers planning to leave the Hellgate developer, Somberg commented, "Thing is, the way things are going I’m likely to be the only programmer still working on Hellgate left from the original crew."
Released for PCs in October, 2007, Hellgate: London's launch received criticism for its bugs, slowdowns, and crashes, among other issues. Somberg, however, has high hopes for the MMORPG in the Asian market: "Y

Could be a direct sequel or something new entirely.
We haven't heard very much about what Square Enix his planned in the online space after Final Fantasy XI, an MMO that's still going strong (read: Wings of the Goddess expansion pack), but the company has admitted they're actively working on a next-generation MMO. Thing is, speaking to Gamasutra, FFXI Producer Hiromichi Tanaka says it's not necessarily going to be Final Fantasy-branded. "As you might already know, members from the current FFXI team are working on a next generation MMO, but it still hasn't been decided whether that's going to be a game in the FF series, a continuation, or a totally new game," said Tanaka. "We are working on it, but it hasn't been decided that far yet."
With Final Fantasy XI still a popular MMO among the hardcore, it's not surprising Square Enix would be interested in continuing that franchise with additional expansion packs in the years to come, while simultaneously nurturing a brand-new IP with the upcoming MMO. via 1UP --------------------- Square Enix is great company which have made FF (XI )series the most great graphic mmos in the whole mmorpgs although its gameplay is not so g

As we mentioned last weekend, John Woo's next film 赤壁 (The Battle of Red Cliff) is getting the MMORPG treatment courtesy of one of China's biggest game companies, Beijing Perfect World. And in fine Perfect World tradition, they've presented us with an almost unintelligible press release telling us so! The game will be released ahead of the film and is scheduled to launch later this year (the film won't be arriving until 2008). Full release after the jump. The War of the Red Cliff' Breaks the Traditional Game Model
BEIJING, Aug. 23 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/-- Beijing Perfect World Technology Co., Ltd. announces that their new game, ''The War of the Red Cliff'' will break the traditional computer gaming concept. This game is nostalgic for many gamers who grew up playing ''3 Kingdoms 2 -- The War of the Red Cliff," but rest assured that this new game does not conform to the traditional mould of games.
Beijing Perfect World will release "The War of the Red Cliff" in the fourth quarter of 2007. This game is sure to bring excitement to gamers. The game's eighteen characters each posses a unique weapon, which players can enhance the use of throughout the game. A great deal of fanatic
