Though budget concerns have halted production of Halo and Gears of War movies, Sony is moving ahead with adapting its EverQuest franchise for the silver screen. Variety reports that Michael Gordon has been hired to pen the screenplay. Though Gordon has just one screenplay to his name, it is that of the wildly popular action movie 300 which was released earlier this year. Meanwhile, former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad is producing the movie, which will be released through Sony's Columbia Pictures group. No director is attached to the project. Sony has been trying to get an EverQuest movie made for years, with word first trickling out over seven years ago.

Nexon says the game “fuses the thrill of addicting, old-school multiplayer kart riding mayhem with innovative track design,” and that it features “millions of uniquely created character personalities and endless kart modifications.” It’s easily accessible but hard to master, while average games take no longer than a couple of minutes so it’s easy to dip in and out of the action. 30 percent of the South Korean population have apparently played it and they can’t all be wrong – for more info on how to get in on the beta just follow this link.

For the second time in a row - much to the grief of players and developers alike - The Saga of Ryzom, Nevrak's legendary MMORPG, is now once again in danger. This unfortunate bit of news comes directly from the game's forums, in a post made by Community Liaison Marjo.
So what's happened? Apparently, the recent rescue of The Saga of Ryzom was not quite enough to snap it back to life, as Gameforge AG has now made the necessary legal steps to liquidate its assets and close up shop. It seems the company that snatched the Nevrak title from the brink of financial obliteration did not have enough funds to see it through to the very end - which means that yes, the fate of The Saga of Ryzom is now up in the air once more. Until another company decides to pick it up, that is.
Of course, there's still a silver lining in here somewhere. Marjo reassures players that Ryzom is still running, and the characters you've come to know and love are still there in the game's database. Unfortunately, game development has been frozen, and there's a couple of things that are to be changed, as stated below:
-Paying subscribers will not be billed and will be able to continue playing for free. -It's not possible

GateWorld has received the first piece of concept art for an Ancient planet which will appear in the upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online game, Stargate Worlds!View a full-size version here. The architecture is distinctly Ancient in origin, with the familiar spires of Atlantis, but the environment itself is very alien. Plasma and electrical discharges light the surface, with crystalline formations jutting out from below."One of the great things about working on Stargate Worlds is that there is so much rich material to draw up creatively," Art Director Howard Lyon tells GateWorld. "This painting was a great example of that. We were able to build upon the strong foundation of the Ancient architecture to add a great amount of depth to a location unique to Stargate Worlds."Lyon spent several weeks developing this painting with consultation between the various department heads. The result is a template with which the art department may develop 100-square-meter maps filled with assets for the world. These maps comprise an "alpha pocket."StargateWorlds.com has also premiered the first concept art and screenshots of Tollana, both intact and destroyed, as well as a never-before-scene ice wo
