By Crom! Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures website Friday update has come out and it discusses some very important topics that players have been concerned about: localized servers and languages as well as the possibility of an open beta test.
The developers gave word that the servers are being split into two primary territories, North America and Europe. The server you will be playing on depends on what retail copy you pick up. This limits both U.S. gamers and European gamers to their local servers unless they decide to import a copy of the game. The developers iterated that this was not done to create artificial boundaries but to give players "the best possible time in Hyboria."
In the same light, the developers of the Age of Conan plan on adding more languages to the game to allow players to experience the game in their own native tongue. So far the game is confirmed to be launched in English, German, and French but the team are currently looking into adding Spanish to the list.
Unlike servers, players will be given a chance to change the language used by the game. However, the default language on the install disc will be according to what server that copy of the game is at

Spellborn NV Community Manager Pierre-Yves Deslandes (aka Mirage) for the upcoming title The Chronicles of Spellborn posted an article over at the MMO game's official website addressing the fans regarding delays and in-game developments.
First off, Deslandes confirmed that the new release window for Spellborn is now slated for a Q1 2008 release. The community manager also added that their game publisher, Frogster Interactive, has just signed a deal that will bring The Chronicles of Spellborn in Japan.
This is certainly good news as this ushers in more gamers with different playing styles compared to those in the West. Anyway, Deslandes shared that the game recently underwent a series of internal stress tests to check if it will have any lags or server crashed during the times when so much players populate a specific region. The official said:
We simulated more than 500 players in real gaming conditions in one single zone (Hawk's Landing/Hawksmouth) without any crashes or other downtime. This might not look so extraordinary at first glance, but trust me, for a game with heavy action-based combat and such AI; this is one heck of a feat for an MMO.
That's about it for now and it seems tha

FunCom released a bunch of new Age of Conan screens to go along with this beta update that discusses what they have planned for server centers, plus what's up with the open beta. At the same time we are now deploying a large amount of additional machines to our main server structures. This means that we are getting ready for larger-scale Beta deployment! We now have the hardware, the set-up (and an awesome game;) ready for larger scale testing! As a result of this we are also getting ready to start inviting thousands and thousands (and thousands) into our Beta programs. As we progress with this new stage of the Beta we expect to get lots of constructive feedback on the general gameplay, and we hope that the testers will also love this iteration of the new combat system. This testing will in turn lead to adding tens and tens of thousands of testers as we move over to the new year. This is surely great news, and for you in the community it means that we are escalating our invitation process. For those of you we have defined as “veterans” (which have not gotten a Beta invite yet), we are looking to send an invitation within the next few weeks. As we have stated before it is a goal for

The Sony Online Entertainment Media Event Report over at RPG Vault looks at a quartet up upcoming SOE titles including EverQuest II: Rise of Kunark: Although EverQuest II didn't achieve the leading market position its older sibling held for quite some time, it has acquired a deserved reputation as a game that solidly fulfills the needs of its particular audience, which appears to include quite a few members who can relate to the Norrathian world from having played the first title. As a result, a lot of the expansion content consists of familiar places, creatures et al, albeit in a different time frame. The most noteworthy element is probably the new race, the Sarnak. They have two significant characteristics; they can breathe fire, and they can walk on the ocean floor. The primary story or lore element revolves around them and their wars with the Iksar Empire; while you work to learn about them, you also have the chance to find a number of lost artifacts. Read all about the event Here
