Locked out of MMOSite??

Leme guess love the new MMOSite webpage design.. yea well i do to but there is just one problem. If it was not for my knowladge of technology and the persistance to not take no as an answer i wont be enjoying the site now.

Hightlighted In this Post is the Problem and the Solution

Problem: Blocked access!!

For over a week now i have been getting this page. (see img below)

That has been the case for sometime now and I though it was simply a problem with either the hosting server. But this problem was going on too long and I wanted to see what the latest mmo's are and get some beta keys for new games. That drew me to find an expination to the problem.

All my research about server problems with MMOSite server proved futile. I then ventured to find out if the problem is occuring on my side of the connection. So having frinds, I use them to test to see if they could connect to the site and well it seems like they got the same problem as me. This led me to use online proxy (which I had previously used to connect to Japanese sites which my ip region is blocked from) to access the site from a different angle. It so happened that IP regions of japan and USA all worked and access the site but 5times slower than I use to do. I quickly came to the conclusion that MMOSite Blocked My IP region or baned the current ip used by my internet connection.

Solution: Use Proxys

Using the Proxy I quickly reported the problem to mmosite in detail hoping they will reslove the problem, but I did not depend on it. Since using a webbased proxy allowed me to access the site but slow, then I though of making my own proxy on a small scale would be faster. It was a win win situation in which I get to access the site and also get exprence in working with proxys (the word I so often avioded).

For my proxy setup i decided to use proxy settings through webbrowser plugins. There are sevral plugins for changing proxy setting for Firefox but foxyproxy cought my atention. It allowed me to use diffrent proxy settings baised on url wildcards. This led me to installing foxyproxy and tring it out.

The plugin does not come with its own list of proxys as a preset so adding them would be the only tedious and long job. For this i recomend searching google for "proxy list" I used this site for my proxy list here. next step will be to add the proxy to foxyproxy list and add wildcards to account for all the url variations that could occure.

see pictures below.

  1. Copy the proxy ip the port and the location for use within foxyproxy.

  1.  On the proxy details tab add in the ip and the port in the relevent feilds and leave all other options unchaned.

  1. Under the url pattern tab add the name of the site and url ass seen below. Set all other options as seen in the picture below.  NB when addin the url note the position of the " * " for the wild cards to work.

  1. Apply all other options by pressing ok untill you arive back at the proxy options screen. As you can see the new Proxy is added to the proxy list with the information provided.  The last step before closing this window would be to set the Mode of foxyproxy to (use Proxy based on......) as seen below.

Now every time you navigate to the site you set your proxy for you will automaticaly access the site using the predifined settings.

From now on you will be accessing that particular site with the proxy settings. This will hide your ip address along with commonly transmitted information about your pc to the server effectivly creating secure browsing to an extent.

Enjoy ;-)
