A land rich of fantasy would be the perfect idea for one to have before they even turn on this client. Well it makes sense in that aspect it is the world of dreams, and you are the few chosen to protect those others who can't protect them self from nightmares. That is in great detail your duty. However lets not delve that much into the story line that is pretty interesting. The facts are you run into some pretty strange npc's that will have you doing very odd little quests. A perfect example of this would be the npc who has you gather items for a health potion but ends up giving you a love potion in which you fall in love with her. Then your next quest is to get a potion to break it. The dialog is rather funny, but something you will just have to personally experience to understand.

Lets first talk about classes, since this is only closed beta as of now, and it is rather new to being opened all the classes are not registered just yet. So for the time being there are only four classes. These four consist of Cleric, Mage, Two handed swordsman, and One handed swordsman. The last two are pretty obvious to be tanks and such, with straight head on attacks, and the higher up two being Cleric and Mage use magic to either support or attack. Of course Cleric's are the healers of the lot. In addition the skills for each are actually pretty flashy.

Hold on lets not get ahead of the game here. Once again this is a pretty simple and short review to give future players insight on what they can expect from this game.

To start off with one can customize everything from the hair, eyes, and birth sign. The birth sign (example: virgo) actually gives a stat boost in the order of a passive skill depending on which one you go with. So creating a character is easy but at the same time depends on the build you are trying to make. For example if you wanted to make a tanker: a person who can take the most hits, having high experience. You would go with the sign that gave you either a higher defense rate or a higher amount of health.

So once you get passed that part you are thrust into an area where an npc is waiting for you to arrive with a quest ready and available. These quests are simple guide lines to help you get through the game, like telling you how to move etc...Once you clear all of these quests you should be around level four with just about half of your leveling meter full. You can not accept the very last quest until you are level five. As such they also give you a taste of what the grind on this game is like. It is not really all that bad if you have a party or a friend that you can play with, but soloing the grind...oh buddy you're in for some trouble.

As you go to the site you may notice there are some advertisements, and they had at one point in time said you must earn your wings in this world. For all that I know you get said wings off bosses, so yes they are trying to see who is the top elite Esprit of them all. Now there may be quests later on in the game where you get wings, of that I am not too sure. However those would be some pretty lovely wings. The screen shot that is about to be shown is of a character with wings, sadly i have none of my own so this is of an Asian server. You'll notice a young male with wings, and a man in a beetle costume, that person in the costume is actually a boss that you can get wings from...go figure...

There is one unique trait about this game that I would love to point out.(mind you there are other unique traits this one just stands out the most to me.) Your items that are equipped only lose durability once you die, no more, and no less. Yes there is another one I must not forget: Alchemy plays a very important role in this world, and once you have mastered it you can become a very great player. Any class can do alchemy, and they all have to at one point.

Alchemy works as follows: You find a scroll off a monster for maybe " hp potion [50]" and right click it. After that press "a" and it will bring up your alchemy spread, click the sheet which is just a title now and it will tell you what you need to make the potion. If you have what it requires you can make as many potions as you want that fit the bill of what is in your inventory. This can be a wonderful and at the same time horribly annoying experience. So far the potion shops are not open or at least to my knowledge they are not. Yet you can continually do the quest to gain potions from an npc and it always gives you just a nudge of experience.

Now lets go on to classes. Remember how I previously said you need to be level five to get the last quest on the starting area? Well once you get that last quest you will be teleported to the actual city of the game, and instructed on how to gain your class. Well they instruct you on how to gain it before teleporting you to the city. Now after you talk to the designated Npc and finish the quests to become your class say good bye to not only your newbie skills, but also that glamorous level 5 you worked so little on but still loved the fact you were that high of a level and at your class.

Right back down to level one you go! Now the quests you get do help a lot but the grind is still there.(yes it is noticeable in this game). Regaining levels can be as annoying as getting your character wiped on a game, but it happens. This game makes it fun though with their cute characters and fun graphics it keeps you compelled to keep playing.

In addition the community on this game has been rather friendly, the only direct annoyance is the Kill stealing that goes on. They may not mean to do it, but when everyone is after a boss at the same time they will try to either loot the items before the person who killed it gets to them, or they will try to kill it and then loot it before you get to it. Even if you were in fact standing there and waiting for said boss to respawn since they come every five minutes or so. It is not a long amount of time, but can feel like it when you are the one waiting.

A word of warning for all of those who love to play wizards: The wizards and clerics in this game have slow casting spells. The first spell you gain is rather fast, but the second is really slow. The third one not so much, I am unsure about the higher level ones because I have not dived that far into the game yet. This is just a review of what I have waved around in the water with little ripples. The attack of a wizard without using spells is strong enough to make up for the slow cast time. What does draw back from it is the low amount of health you have. At least they do give you distance on your attacks. So always attack with the slower cast first when fighting a mob and try not to get surrounded.

Throughout this game while one is fighting, or in a dungeon you will notice large crystals sprouting from the ground. Heck it's there right when you start on the first island. These crystals are either yellow, red, or blue, and they heal what their color corresponds to. Yellow heals both health and mana, while blue heals mana, and red heals health. There is a large circle around the crystal glowing on the ground showing the area of healing so just stay within it and you are perfectly fine. Unless of course you are fighting a monster who can one hit kill you.

This has been a brief diagnostic of Monato Esprit. I hope you all give this game a chance and stay tuned for a more in depth review of this game.

~Joy to you all

I have two things to add: The swordmen are Hwarang (two-handed swords) and Templars (sword and shield)
And you can buy the regular currency (MetaTix) with real money. So when they speak of a "player-run economy" they mean an economy run by those who pump money into this game...
It's still pretty laggy and buggy and I've already had enough of the CBT.

Anyway, nice article.
