Boy Shoots Brother Dead In Video Game Row

Category: Crimes Game: Default Posted on Jun 11, 2009 1:22 am

De-Andre Finley, a 11-year-old Mississippi boy has accidentally killed his nine-year-old brother with a shotgun after a fight over video game. According to Kenny Dickerson, the Marshall County Sheriff, "The younger brother allegedly got mad because he got beat at some video games and got the gun." at the same time, their father was outside mowing the lawn.

The older brother, De-Andre Finley, admitted the weapon automatically went off when the two tussled over it. The story coincides with police investigations which have stated the weapon was too long and too heavy for the young boy to fire. "That version we can live with because it's consistent with the evidence," the police added.

Police said it is unlikely the older brother will be charged because he is under 13, and "it appeared to be an accident anyway".

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I have to say..it's weird, why the shotgun was put so close to the two boys, and gosh, loaded? His father should be responsible for his child's death. And another thing, accident? It may be, but since the older brother held the gun in his hands, I don't think he had no idea what he was about to do. When he pulled the trigger, that was crime, definitely.

And I'm...glad they don't blame games at this time.

The father won't be charged. In America everybody has a right to have guns, and they don't have to lock them up (alot of them refuse to because then if a hypothetical axe murderer came into the house they could quickly grab it) and given the fact that it was loaded, i'm sure the father doesn't really take note of gun safety.

Kids in America have easy access to guns, it's sad but hey, if the government wants to give them that right they deserve the results.

Australia is different, you can have guns, but you need to have them locked up, and the ammo has to be locked in a seperate cabinet.

His parents knew there was a loaded weapon in the house and they didnt bother to keep it out of the kid's hands. Thats one problem but also the parents taught their children that THIS is how you solve a problem? If this kid didnt try this now, chances are he would of tried something similar with other kids later on. This is the behaviour that started shooting sprees in our schools. Kids who think a gun will give them a short cut to power and respect.

I understand the parents are going through hell right now, losing a child under ANY circumstances has got to be the end of the world for them. But they need to take responsbility for the behaviour they either taught or encouraged in their children.

I agree, the father should be charged. Jeez its his responsibility to make things like that inaccessible to his children. If he didn't feed/clothe them, he would be charged with child endagerment, yet when he allows them to have access to a gun that could KILL one of them and in this case did just that, then thats ok? Stupid U.S. government and their hillbilly citizens who can't understand the concept of a safer and nonviolent existence.

The father should definitely be charged with something... to have his "loaded" gun where either of his sons could reach it is just unforgivable.

But yeah, atleast the games weren't blamed... again..

Sad story.
