I have a dream.

Somewhere in the uncharted plains of videogame potential, in the wild primal cloud of yet-nascent human ideas, is my perfect heroine. I don't know what she looks like or where she's from, but I know she's a manifestation of despair and triumph, of trial and overcoming, of badass throw-down and ephemeral grace. She's a creature of fire and passion tempered by intellect, of depth and history and complexity. She will surprise me and challenge me, and when we bring down her arch-nemesis - perhaps a phantom from her past, perhaps a threat to all she stands for - our unified victory will be unmatched; the world will echo with the lamentation of our fallen foes.

And I know she has never seen life on the screen. This is not to disparage the recent upswing in engaging heroines: With Beyond Good and Evil's Jade and Half Life 2's Alyx Vance, Warcraft's Jaina Proudmoore and Dreamfall's April Ryan, the heroine scene is far from a hopeless one.

But there remains, in the heroine topography of the collective fabric of the game world, something missing, something unsatisfying. And the fact we can count satisfying heroines on one hand isn't reassuring, either. So I set out to find what

As covered earlier,the start date of the Hellgate: London beta is still up in the air. Theonly official hint we are given is “soon”. If you pre-ordered the gameand have received a pre-order card with a special code on it, lookslike you are good to go. [What is Pankration?]

Pankration (pan-kra-tee-on) is an ancient sport that pits fierce beastsagainst one another in a winner-takes-all melee. The Pankrationbattlecages are located in Al Zahbi, meaning that only players who haveinstalled the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion pack can access thisexciting new feature.

Where is Pankration?
Pankration matches are held inone of four special battlecages located in an area of Whitegate knownas the Pit. A Pankration official near the Pit entrance can instantlyteleport adventurers to any of the cages for the low, low priceof...nothing.

*Please note that a tax of 10% will be placed on any bazaars held within the Pit.

How Much is Pankration?
Pankrationwould be free...if the word ‘free’ meant ‘requiring monetary funds.’Unfortunately, that is not the case. Pankration participation requiresa special type of currency known as ‘jettons.’ Jettons can be earned byparticipating in matches or can be bought with Imperial currency. 1. Finding a Monster
Before you can participate in Pankration, you’ll need to find a monster. Here are the steps:

I. Purchase a Soultrapper and some blank

We can be a bit more casual, talk to fans, have a good time, andsay, “Hey, everyone wants to see the Demonologist, let's bring it outnext round.” Most importantly, we're able to get the game into thehands of regular fans and players. Anyone who made it to Atlanta andgot a convention badge could play, and judging by the reports on theforums and all the people we ran into, quite a lot of you did.

Highlights of the weekend include:

Being offered a child for a beta key. Yes, the baby was at the booth. Yes, we do have a picture.

Hearingsomeone's phone click open and them saying, “Hey, I'm gonna be late. Ihave to check out this Conan game.” This happened several times a day,and it was awesome every single time.

Our Age of Conanpresentation was so popular that we not only had to split it up to getmore people through, we were told the cops were called at one point tocontain some of the madness in the hall. Even though we ran through twosessions, we still didn't get everyone who wanted to see the gamethrough. The turnout was nothing short of incredible, and we would liketo thank you all for coming out.
