First Impressions on Cabal, Rohan & Requiem: Bloodymare
Okay, this is my 2nd entry and I'm gonna rant, praise... I mean review my first impressions on the following 3 MMORPGs based on a Casual gamer's point of view. Duh, I'm a casual gamer, I've got a life. >.>
Ah chop chop. First up, Cabal Online!
www.cabalonline.net
Oh yea, You've seen those videos, trailers and you were like, "Woah!" Yea, we know. Simply fantastic, especially the skill animations. There were lots of hype and criticism on both sides. But here, I'll tell you what I experienced first-hand. Now, get your USB plug and connect into Etakon's Gaming Memories!
Skip this part, to the conclusion, if you're too lazy to read.

Woohoo! After months and months of waiting for Cabal SEA to be launched and now Closed Beta Testing is finally commencing! Muaha! FINALLY!
On the first day of CabalSEA's CBT....
*Logs in Etakon, arrives at Character Creation menu*
What the crap? *Looks at the unglamorous character customization*
Crappy graphics at creation page already?! Okay, never mind, relax. It's gonna get better in-game!
*Customizes character, blah blah, and gets in-game*
Oh yea, finally in-game!.... What the.. zomfgwtfbbq! The graphics are like MU Online? Are you kidding me?! Asiasoft joo freaking liar about uber graphics!
*Takes deep breath and goes to option menu*
Ah, the default graphics are set to the lowest.. Jeez..
*Sets the graphics high*
Okay! Much better now but still just acceptable graphics. Oh well, forget about that, time to kick some ass!
*Observes environment and UI*
Average... Ah! That's the quest man!
*Runs to Green Despair Officier*
My gawd.. is it just me.. or is the movement/running speed/animation just so damn slow... I WANT MY DASH SKILL NOW!
*Checks skills*
What?! I need to get my sword skill to Regular rank to have dash. Okay, time to go skill grind!
*After 30 minutes*
..... It's still at Novice rank and it's barely going up! Damn!
*Goes questing instead*
Kill 10 Mantis.. Talk to weapon shopkeeper, armor shopkeeper... blah blah... Sigh.. Nothing special about the quests.
*Completes tutorial quests and finishes tour around the 3 towns*
Okay, the BGM(background music), not that bad. I like the one in Desert Scream where there's the cool guitar rifts! The rest are slight dull though.
*Continues playing for awhile more*
Meh.. this is getting boring fast. >.<
*Starts fooling, chatting and dancing around*
>>
The Conclusion!
To sum up, Cabal is OVERRATED! No offense but just like some people have already said it. Well duh, it's got quite some unique features that many other games lack like the... Dash, Fade step, Combo System, Aura mode, Battle modes, Astral Bikes and Boards(Awesome!), Cool concept art but not-so-detailed character outfits(cuz of the mediocre graphics), mixture of medieval + futuristic theme, uber skill animations, guild wars, nation wars. Which all only becomes available to you during HIGH levels, like 90+.
Now for the bad thing. It's grindy, and by grindy, I mean really grindy... especially skills. Sure, quests do help a lot but the quests are dull and typical it doesn't really help keep me entertained much. And no, don't say things like, "That's cuz your noob at Cabal", I've done lots of research on this game for months and was eagerly waiting for it just to get kinda disappointed. I'm part of a guild too, the 3rd guild made in CBT in fact. Not exactly a bad thing but, this game promotes PvP instead of PK-ing. PK-ing gives you so much penalties it's not even worth PK-ing. PvP on the other hand, gives you honor points and such. The PvP is good and depends on mostly 2 areas, how well you use your skill combos and your equipments. It actually requires some micro-ing skills to be able to pull it off against other good players. So yea, it's a good thing this part relies on skill and not just on leet equipments where you use your mouse, point-click-attack, GG, pwnt, kinda thingy.
Don't get me wrong, this game's concept is simply brilliant and the skill animations are one of a kind a.k.a. fantastic/out of this world but it's ruined by the mediocre graphics and grind (and community with all the mapletards if you're playing in SEA version). To be honest, I actually enjoyed running and dancing with my guild mates more than doing quests and grinding mobs.. All the fun stuff at high levels, sure, I'd love to get there but I can barely keep myself from clicking on the "exit" button and I'm only level 10+!
Here you go, my guild, Osmium Faction SEA's Cabal CBT Montage.
Ratings
Graphics: 7 / 10
Sounds: 6.5 / 10
Gameplay: 6.5 / 10
Community: Null. Since different Cabal versions have different communities.
Unique features: 9.5 / 10
Overall: 7 / 10
Final conclusion:
So, if you're a hardcore gamer and you don't mind the graphics, I'd say go for it. It's much better than the rest of the grind games out there. In fact, I'd say it's the best out of all the grind games out there.
For a casual gamer, you might want to reconsider playing this, make sure you don't play solo, get with some friends/guild mates or you'll be really bored out of your mind that if I were you, I'd go watch some anime instead.

Okay! Lets move on to the second game, Rohan Online!
www.playrohan.com
My guild mate in Cabal told me about this game and since CabalSEA CBT ended, we have nothing to do but wait for Open Beta, so I decided to check it out. I tried it on the Japanese version since I can read Japanese and the English version isn't out yet. It's a whooping 1.5gb download. =P
While downloading, I checked out some videos about the game on youtube, etc. Looks pretty good.
Now it begins... Plug into Etakon's Gaming Memories again!
Skip this part, to the conclusion, if you're too lazy to read.

Download complete, Installation complete. Oh yea baby! I'm ready to Rock 'n' Roll!
*Logs in and proceeds to character creation menu*
Mmm.. Okay, pretty standard character creation page just like all the new MMORPGs these days. Nothing special.
*Gets in-game and proceeds to tutorial zone*
*Whacks some mobs, get used to basic controls, runs through the whole tutorial zone*
*Gets out of tutorial zone in 5 mins, teleported to mainland*
Yes! Fresh air finally!
*Observes graphics and environment*
Mmm.. Not bad.. not bad at all.
*Spots wolf in the distance*
Argh... CHARGE!!
*Kills wolf*
Woohoo! I got some Cron(gold) and items from it!
*Kills another wolf and levels up*
Wow, level speed is decent too. I like this game.
*Looks at map and spots castle*
Hmm, maybe I should visit the town to get some quests and stuff..
*After reaching castle*
Nice castle.. =P
*Runs around and explore castle, getting some quests in the process*
*Spots hawt half-elf in Japanese school P.E. outfit*
Woah! This is... incredible!
*Zooms in to view in more detail*
Jeezus, the female characters in Rohan can have a showdown with the females of Granado Espada. >:D
*Buys some equipments and goes questing, enjoying the scenaries while traveling to quest destination*
*Fights some fierce-looking but weak mobs for quest with some Japanese female dark elf*
"Gomenasai!(sorry)", says Japanese female dark elf, for KS-ing(Kill stealing) my mob.
Oh okay.. never mind, it's okay. Weird.. I didn't even realize she KSed my mob! The people here sure are polite... =P
*Continues playing and reaches level 12 quickly without getting bored at all*
And I get bored real easily, attention-span really low. It's amazing this game kept me playing.
>>
The Conclusion!
6 Races. Humans, Elves, Half-elves, Dark elves, Dhans(Bad Humans), Dekans(Dragons but they look more like fishies)
The characters are simply an eye candy to look at, very close to the human physique and perfect, especially females. Except Dekans, eww, blue-skin freaks! =P
The weapons and armour and wicked, plenty and changeable every few levels. New equips every few levels, sounds cool eh.
The BGM is awesome, I thought Cabal's BGM was great, but after hearing Rohan's BGM, it just pwns Cabal's BGM hands down. There's guitar rifts, pianos, etc etc. Well.. real music that actually sounds nice! The only bad thing about the BGM is that once the song finishes, there's no BGM at all until you reach/travel to another area. I couldn't find the jukebox to loop the BGM, well if there was even a jukebox to begin with.
Environment looks similar to LOTR or ArchLord if you've watched/played them. The trailers are not bad too. Watch them on youtube.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any screenshots. But this game is definitely worth looking out for.
Here, a short story/show about how a female Elf got pwned by a wolf and getting her revenge.. Theme song is from .hack // Roots.

Lastly, we've come to the final game! Woo finally! Enough listening to Etakon's crap! Yea, I bet that's what you're thinking. >.>
Yes, Requiem: Bloodymare, developed by the legendary Gravity which brought you Ragnarok Online and the upcoming RO2!
www.playrequiem.com
I spotted this game on MMOsite while looking for info on Rohan. The Horror + Bloody theme attracted me so I decided to check it out. And off I went, signed up, blah blah, got my Requiem CBT code and woo, post-apocalyptic world here I come! Plug into Etakon's Gaming Memories one last time pl0x! >.<

Ooooooooh.. Login page with some.. zomfgwtfbbq, I'm in a blood vein! Nuuuuuuu!~ Teh red-blood cells are choking me! Heck, wait, I'm still alive. Phew. xD
*Logs in and proceeds to character creation menu*
Ooooh.. this looks like.. I'm in some sort of spooky experimental lab.. Ek! Is that me?! >.<
*Finishes customizing character and off to tutorial zone*
YES! I'm ALIVEEEEEE! Holy shiet! It's just like a video console game! Mmm.. I look realistic.
*Walks around and spots some monsters from some freak show*
Argh! DIE BASTARDS!
*Takes out sword and shield from my back and starts slashing*
Ooooh.. The blood! My gawd! Blood splashes everywhere! AHH!!
*Decapitates monster*
HOLY SHIET! the.. the.. limbs are still wiggling on the ground! O.O!
*Continues killing monsters and finishes tutorial zone, teleported to mainland*
Ah.. Hello World! Mmm.. ... ... ... This place is spooky! I wanna go home! Mama!~ T-T
*Checks map*
There's a town nearby, maybe I'll be safe there..
*Runs to the town and arrives there*
Woah.. this is surrrrreal. Amazing, look at how detailed the town is.. looks like the town in the movie "Time Machine" before that dude makes the time machine =P Except.. much darker and spooky with steams of smoke rising from pipes and stuff. Visually-stunning!

The Conclusion!
I've never played a post-apocalyptical game that real. I've played Diablo, Diablo 2, 2Moons/Dekaron, etc etc. But man, this is just totally freaky. Plus I played it in the morning! Must try it again in the middle of night with the sound tuned up. The graphics are realistic and similar to that of a video console game standard. It uses the WASD way to move. The controls are a bit different from the typical MMORPGs but that's not a problem. Best of all I don't feel any grind from the game, which is a good thing. There's some game trailers of the game on youtube but not much. Meh, I think I'll stop here. Try and see for yourselves! =P
Here's a guild publicity video from the Korean version..
