SONY’s Blunder Parade?Category: Game Industry Posted on Jul 18, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

*sigh* Oh, it’s gonna be another long blog again. Lately, I read some news about what Sony decide for their game direction. Yes, Sony has mark a phenomenal success with Walkman and Playstation. But that doesn’t mean they’re invincible. I have some opinions about several statement made by representative of Sony.
PS3 Price We heard the news that Koei Tecmo’s CEO, Kenji Matsubara, asked Sony to cut their PS3 price,… … with “please”. Man, Koei is big developer, and has been one of my favourite co |

All of these title, being listed here because I felt that the base story is very strong. That’s the only consideration why I brought them here. This is going to be a very long blog.
And here’s my list:

Some Missing Links, Game To MovieCategory: Game Industry Posted on Jul 03, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

In my last blog article, I said that when I watch Uncharted 2: Among The Thieves, it was like watching a movie instead of game trailers. Seems like the hollywood guys also like this game title, and from the rumors that I read, they will start to shoot a movie based on this game. You can read the complete news here. (Alas, it’s not the Among The Thieves movie).
And then, I try to remember, how many game that has been successful (critically and commercially) when they’re being adapted to movie. Hmm, compare to comic and novel to movie, game h |

(In Dexcross Perspective)
I don’t have a chance to attend E3, but hey it’s one of the biggest game event, so I search and read some of the articles about E3, download some photos and screenshot, and also… GAME TRAILERS. Several have been downloaded, but there are 3 trailers that get my attention so far.
Uncharted 2
There are times when we drop our jaw because of game cutscene. And some games, unfortunately, don’t have a good gameplay graphic compare to their cutscene. Now the time has come where cutscene IS also gameplay graphic. Uncharted 2 gameplay tra |

Best Ass In The Game World? OMG!Category: Game Industry Posted on Jun 20, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

Yeah I do know that sex do sales, and I even made some articles about it. But I just found a site that held a voting about who has the best ass in the game world? And I just think, “Are you kidding me? It’s virtual! Game designer can build their characters’ asses as sexy as possible, as tempting as possible. There’s no way you would vote for that!” And I was wrong. Many people vote for this virtual ass contest. And here’s the top 10 result:
10. Ivy from Soul Calibur
9. Christie Montero from Tek |

Longest MMORPGs That Stay In My HDDCategory: Game Comments Posted on Jun 06, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

I’ve tried many MMORPGs, and most of them end up being deleted several weeks later. Some of them even deleted after only been resided in my HDD for only 3 hours! But some games, have become “senior” resident of my HDD. Even if I upgraded my computer, I brought them along so that I can still play them later. And here’s the list of them:
Dream Of Mirror Online My personal obsession of collecting recipes, makes me still enjoy the game. Not to mention a huge damage dealer with full STR saberman. There are many more aspects to enjoy in this game. This game has been in my HDD for 3 years.
Pirate King Online This game is similar to my first addictive MMORPG, Ragnarok Online. Even the shortcut is almost the same. It’s been an alternative game since the invasion of the bot begun in RO. I start with international version, and about 1 year ago, a local server open services in my country. This game has been in my HDD for 3 years.
Granado Espada The music, the new concept of controlling more than 1 character, beautiful graphic (during it’s early opening), random opti of items, have made me spen |

Cosplay, Physical Appearance DOES MatterCategory: Game Community Perspective Posted on Apr 23, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

One day, in a forum, I read this thread title:
“Which one is more important in cosplay, passion or physical appearance.”
It’s gonna be a neverending debate. Both are important. But if you compare passionate cosplayer without “supporting” physical appearance, WITH a good physically looking cosplayer without passion, I believe the last one will get more digg or being downloaded when you upload them on the internet.
A member of the forum, is thinking that physical appearance is more important and he or she post this pic:
I don’t totally agree with him or her, because people with passion has the right to express their selves.
However, lately, I’ve seen some game events or exhibition are using some cosplayer to promote their games, but I have to say that they don’t have “supporting” physical appearance. Some of my friends even give comments like, “How could they choose them as cosplayers?”. Apparently, physical appearance DOES matter. And if you combine it with passion and good photography technique, I am sure it will be attractive.

I have these conversation one day when I was having a lunch with one of my friend.
M : I think Blizzard is going to postponed their WoW film, although at first they announced it to be released this year. They will appoint a new director and scripwriter. F : Ah it is so Blizzard, postponing their project. But their work is awesome, so I think it’s worth to wait. M : I agree. I heard they will make the timeline of the film set before the event of Warcraft. F : Wait, is it going to be the time when Orc tribe hasn’t been corrupted, or is it going to be the day they invade Azeroth? M : Well, I don’t know about that. (And so on, we carry on talking about many characters story such as Thrall, Cairne Bloodhoof, Arthas, and how the great battle between many heroes, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Arthas as the Lich King will become)
So, in the middle of our conversation, a stranger that ove |

Mathematically, Fatigue System Is A PlusCategory: Game Community Perspective Posted on Apr 06, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

As far as I know, the first Lineage 2 that implemented as F2P is Lineage 2 in my country. And an interesting part of this implementation is the additional features of “fatigue system”. While my first experience with Korean Lineage 2: it didn’t have anything like this system.
For any of you who doesn’t familiar with fatigue system, I will try to explain it briefly. Fatigue system is a system where you will receive certain benefit if your fatigue bar is higher. Your character will have an fatigue bar, while in full bar condition in this Lineage 2 case, will receive 300% experience. The bar will slowly dropping whenever you enter hunting area, but will filling up when you are in town, safety zone, or offline. In my country they called it Vitality system.
So some players are feeling that this system is kinda handicapping their playing time. But I think that it is not that bad.
1. More efficient playing time. A 24/7 bot (yeah I wanna say players, but who can play a game with no rest unless he or she ends up resting in peace?) will eventually made the character only receive 50% experience (with as |

Hot Babe Character Deserves Sexy OutfitCategory: Game Industry Posted on Feb 17, 2009 Add to Bookmark |
|
I’ve read some articles lately, that questioned the importance of sexy outfit in game. They ask why character designers have to make armor that looks like they’re lack of materials to cover all of the character’s body. Well I understand that they also point out to the male characters outfit, but I guess the examples provided show us the female cases are dominant.
Back to the main question. Is it important to put sexy outfit in games? Well let see. Many industries are using sexy models for promoting their products. And if that method was not successful, there is no way it will be used again and again in their next promotion event. Need examples? Automobiles industries always used some hot babes to promote their products. And sports game also using sexy cheerleaders to enhance the cheerfull environment. I saw so many gadget magazines cover in my country are using sexy models. So let’s face it, hot babes do sale! And we call them hot because they’re sexy. Isn’t it obvious that hot babes identic with sexy outfit in most cases?
