Maybe some of you notice that this article’s title is similar in a 180 degree way with the article from one of MMOSite headline news. I don’t intend to have a flame war with this article. However, I don’t believe that having sequels to an MMORPG is bad. And here’s my reason, compare to Mike’s:
First of all, data about subscribers sometimes can be varied according to many sources. (I recommend MMOSite to upload a better image for the chart). If you really want to take a look at clear chart about Mike’s data quickly, maybe you can visit here. But if you read this article, you will read that Lineage II has surpassed it’s predecessor by many times. And even if the data must be debated for the sources have their own reasons, just take this into your consideration: Releasing products in nowaday MMORPGs market, would be really different compare to previous old day, because of one thing:COMPETITION! During 1998, when Lineage I was released, I can barely see a new MMORPG in 6 months. While today, I am even confused to try which new game to start because sometimes a new MMORPG can be released in a spread of days! Lineage II was also has to compete with private server, a problem th

In 2004, I had a chance to visit Korea. During my visitation, I also met with some people from several game publisher such as Paha Schultz from NCSoft (half Germany half Korean), Luke Byung Ho Park from Neowiz, Michael Lim from Softmax (now he owns an online game publisher in Germany), and Min Kim from Wizet (yes, maybe you noticed him in North America as a person from Nexon, but he is actually from Wizet). Their explanation about Korean gaming world really amazed me. And although I knew there are professional gamers in Korea, but that’s the first time I knew about Lee Yun Yeol and Lim Yo Hwan (please do not misunderstand me, I didn’t meet them), 2 top professional starcraft players. Celebrity in Korean gaming world. Lee Yun Yeol earned a 3 years contract from sponsor worth US $ 830,000 while Lim Yo Hwan is known as the highest paid professional gamers in the gaming world history. His annual earnings exceed US $ 300,000 with additional US $ 90,000 annually endorsement contract. The starcraft league is aired in 2 major games dedicated channel TV, MBCGame and Ongamenet. And those 2 guys really had a huge fans because of these conjunction. Game became a serious industry that

After asking around to this site about this game and don’t find any clue about them, I decide to give a try to this game. Cuz I thought, hey it’s just a 490MB file to download. Won’t hurt much to try it anyway. Btw, MOF is a F2P item mall based subscription game. Before I begin, some people are thinking that I hate 2D MMORPG because of my review about Ghost Online. I have to say they are wrong. I love 2D MMORPG. I am a gamer even since Atari was come out as the only console game out there. I even install some old RPG of SNES in my PDA. So contrary to what some people think when they read about my review of Ghost Online, I love playing 2D MMORPG. And so far, Master of Fantasy (MOF) has fullfil my hope that this genre can still produce a good title.
You can read about the background and some glimpse of the games in my previous article that asking around about this game. And if you think that the characters seems to be similar with Pangya, a casual golf online game, you are right. Because the character designer of both games is still the same team. The graphic of MOF is cute and somehow I have a feeling that Maple Story 2 will have a serious contender because of this game

I have met some friends that asking about how come I found so many topics to write about in my MMOSite gameblog? Some of them already join MMOSite for blogging too but wondering about what to cover. I also found some blog asking about what to write. Well the answers of that questions are not easy, I know. But, here’s what I want to share to all of you on how I ‘found’ topics to write about. I am not trying to teach you how to write or what topics to be written. I am just SHARING. If you feel that you don’t have any difficulties like what my friends mentioned above, just skip this article. You don’t need it.
Purpose Now ask yourself, what’s your purpose on writing in your blog. Please refer to Layce’s article about the definition of blog, I’m not gonna repeat it in here. But a blog is where you can express what you’ve think about something. And if you have a purpose when you’re writing, you WILL EVENTUALLY find a topic. Let’s take an example: I have played so many games in my life, and yet sometimes I have my own opinion about games (certain or general). But I don’t have that much chance in saying it to other people especially when they are having a different topics. So th

I don’t really know how to categorize this article into. It’s not a review nor a depth review. I just want to write this, because when I’m playing Granado Espada, this is what I felt. There are so many good review out there that you can read. This is just about my feelings toward the game. Granado Espada or Sword of The New World, is far from perfect. It doesn’t have stat allocation so that the character can be differentiate to each other in terms of character type, it doesn’t have a unique distinctive battle system, they don’t prevent any RMT company spamming around, some of premium items are out of balance (lucifer wings for example, which make people refuse to enter the pvp and faction wars) and I’m really having difficulties when dealing with equipment because there is no way you can assign a hotkey for equipment change. So yeah, they are far from perfect. But when I play this game, one thing that I found is that the team behind this game really put their heart to make this game different and alive! Why would I said that? The graphic of Granado Espada, while it wouldn’t be the best graphic of today OL game, but I can see that the team behind this game, is paying really h

Why people are so attached to the virtual world? Couple weeks ago, a “friend” of mine met me in a dungeon. And the conversation was went like this: H : Hi… L : Hi, long time no c man… H : How r u? L : Fine man, how bout u? H : So so… hey btw, do u have a pistol for lv 44? L : Yeah, the one I’m using is lv 44. It’s unique ^^. H : Aah, it’s shining! Is it +5 or +6? L : It’s just +5. H : Can I borrow it? I just need another pistol to kill that captain more quickly. L : Oh, sure. And there goes the transaction with my “friend”. And “he” went to kill the mini boss of that area… if what ‘he’ said was true,… which I doubt. Because: half an hour later, the real friend of mine login, and whisp me telling me that his older account has been hacked (or keylogged, whatever the terms is), and warn me about it and also not to trust ‘him’. And it was too late. OMG, I’ve been hacked. I repeteadly say to myself that I should have noticed it from the beginning. Because ‘he’ spoke in English, while usually, we rather use our mother language. But since we play in International se

I am interested in joining this game. But I really want to know what people think about this game before downloading the client. Here’s a brief information about the game:
This game is a 2D MMORPG developed by CDC. The game has just started their open beta in my country yesterday. I still don’t know about the background story yet. However, it is set on a magical academy where your character building his or her ability through series of mini quest. The characters are evolving by age, so their appearance will also be changed during the gameplay. 4 type of characters are currently available. Fighter, Archer, Mage, and Cleric.
As far as I know: Warriors can use daggers, 1h sword, 2h sword, 2h axe, 1h mace, dual blades, spears, shields. Archers can use daggers, bows, crossbows, guns. Mages can use daggers, books(range), staffs. Clerics can use clubs, staffs, cross. There will be Alchemy Magical skill available for every character, and with this skill we can produce our own equipment using certain recipe. I like the way they provide the character pic when you change your equipment.
When I looked at the screenshot, it’s kinda remind me of Talesweaver, a great 2D game from Ne

Couple weeks ago, I watch David Archuleta from American Idols show singing Imagine from John Lennon. And I really get touched by the way he sing. Couple days after that, I have my own version of that song in this lyric: Imagine there’s no scammers Everyone just playing No spammers among us Just enjoy the gaming Imagine all the people Playing just for fun Imagine there’s no phishing Everyone is so nice too No worries when playing And no beggars too Imagine all the people Playing in harmony You may say I’m a dreamer But I’m not the only one I hope someday you’ll join us And the game world will be as one Imagine there’s no killing Just because of a game No need for stupid slaying Instead a friendship in game Imagine all the people Sharing joy in game You may say I’m a dreamer But I’m not the only one I hope someday you’ll join us And the game players will live as one (This lyric is made just for non commercial discussion, Imagine song copyright own by John Lennon) I can still remember, my first day entering the world of Ragnarok Online, and an assassin was coming to me asking if I am new in there. And I say yes. He was then, giving me some red potions, giving advice on how to level up, and remind me

Hell yeah, grinding is BORING! But I have seen and getting amazed on how people ACTUALLY REALLY can handle it! There’s time when I felt, “Nobody can stand this!” during my hunting on certain level. But the next day I login to the game, my fellow guildmate is already pass the same level when the day before we were at the same level! What really more amazed me is a few days later, he is way beyond my current level! That left me with a really big question: how the hell did he handle that grinding??? One of my friend did a little research. Although it’s just for fun (not for published research), but he really test it statistically. For those of you who don’t need any scientific facts, just skip to the next paragraph. My friend did this to his friends as a sample for his non parametrical Factor Analysis method. The dependent variable is grinding durability, while the independent variables are shown in the order below according to their factor load. He used a 10% alpha. So the result displayed here is not in random order but rather in hierarchical order. For those of you who want to discuss the statistic fact, please PM me. It’s not my research and this is just for fun, but
