Hot Babe Character Deserves Sexy Outfit

Category: Game Industry Game: Default Posted on Feb 17, 2009 5:52 am

I’ve read some articles lately, that questioned the importance of sexy outfit in game.  They ask why character designers have to make armor that looks like they’re lack of materials to cover all of the character’s body.  Well I understand that they also point out to the male characters outfit, but I guess the examples provided show us the female cases are dominant.

Back to the main question.  Is it important to put sexy outfit in games?  Well let see.  Many industries are using sexy models for promoting their products.  And if that method was not successful, there is no way it will be used again and again in their next promotion event.  Need examples?  Automobiles industries always used some hot babes to promote their products.  And sports game also using sexy cheerleaders to enhance the cheerfull environment.  I saw so many gadget magazines cover in my country are using sexy models.  So let’s face it, hot babes do sale!  And we call them hot because they’re sexy.  Isn’t it obvious that hot babes identic with sexy outfit in most cases?

Do u c my PDA?

And let’s take a look at game industry.  Hot babes at game convention and exhibition nowadays is like a very important ingredients in cooking food.  Without hot babes in there, we will feel like we taste a food without salt!  In many websites that cover about games exhibitions, the pic of hot babes sometimes downloaded way far more than the game screenshot itself!

Now IF hot babes do attract people to many products, WHILE you CAN put hot babes IN your products, isn’t it make senses that you will try as hard as possible to shape your babes character as sexy as hell?  So looking at how game developers designing the costume of their hot babes, I have to say that they did their homework well.

An interesting blog about definition of MMORPG also giving a good reason why we should put sexy outfit for game characters.  If you want to catch up with what I’m talking about, read it here:

http://my.mmosite.com/mikanagi/Blog/Item/5fd497e843fe0431d519f7bc4cc2fbbd.html

Let me quote from that article:

“A friend of mine who is using female character even though he is male said, "In most of time during playing MMORPG, I see butt of my characters! (means "third-person view") So, I wanna see female's one rather than male's!" For men, that's one of good(?) reason!”

Now let me carry on this "good reason" with one question.  If you have to see the butt of your characters, would you prefer the sexy one or the fat one?  All of my friends answered that they prefer the sexy one.  And especially in sexy outfit too.

So from many points of view, putting sexy outfit in game character is a smart move.  Besides, I believe there are so many men that don’t mind watching so many hot babes in sexy outfit during their gameplay.  And obviously they also don’t mind if that character being cosplayed by real hot babes.

In conclusion, it’s absolutely logical for developer to build their game character costume as sexy as possible because hot babes surely attract more audience.  And let me quote my conversation with one of my friend who is a fashion photo model.

Me (M) : Err, just curious, don’t you feel ackward when you have to wear some outfit that only cover the least part of your body?

(My friend’s initial name is H, and she’s smilling at me)

H : Well, this is my job and besides … (she’s waving her hair and put some make up in front of the mirror) it’s like a destiny that sexy outfit should be displayed by us.  Hot gal was like born for them.  We deserve it.

Hell yeah, hot babes deserves sexy outfit.  Two thumbs up for all developers who try to design their character outfit as sexy as possible.  ^^

Oh yeah I am so Cabal

Well I was not talking about "less material" armor, but it would be still fine for me though... ;P

Was I meant was, for example, the faces of male characters. Some games have just ugly faces to choose or they're just not that pretty than female ones. Female faces are always looking pretty or sexy in some way, while male faces are more rough/aggresive looking than pretty or sexy. Personally, I never had much problems with male armors, I mostly like them too, but their faces... that's why I rarely play a male char.

Dexcross replied at 8:11 pm Apr 30,2009
Come to think of it, yes it is true. Developers are tend to make female face pretty while they don't really give the same "treatment" to the male characters.
At first, I thought that man also prefer to be "represented" by handsome face, but I was wrong. There's a huge market that also like a more rough / aggressive looking. Some of my friends prefer that way. So, no wonder it goes like this.

Well good clothes sell things If you think about things, A game must be fun to play as well as Eye-Appealing. Please Dont say this like its just men who follow these things, my sister hates ugly MMO clothes and goes around being a nuisance like, "That Doesnt Look Good Take It Off" or "That looks so bad" like shes some fashion expert, but seriously ladies would you play a game if it had horrible clothing, and graphics........Im talking about worse than runescape if anyone makes a reference

So any great article on a contraversial subject, looking foward to more good stuf

I wish they would put some of that effort not only on female characters, but on males too. Especially MMOs, MMOs with nice looking males can be count down with one hand... most just look ugly, stupid or having too much steroids. This way it looks like the market is just focusing on male players/clients alone, which is kinda sad.

I agree that Granado Espada did a very good job on making both genders looking well (I think every kind of taste is covered there), wish more games would follow that.

Dexcross replied at 6:19 pm Apr 24,2009
I think the developers are getting into that area too. They realize the rising numbers of female gamers. Although I doubt they will give "less material" armor to male characters.

Put It This Way, They Use Sex Advertisement, Because They Want Money. Knowing Full Aware Games Could Be Meant For Kids, They need to Have Adults Play The Games As Well, And Since Adults Have Money, it Makes The Games Worth To pay To Play, Or Worth The Money In Cash Shops To Buy Their Slutty Armor. I've Said It Before, And I'll Say it again, Why The Hell Look At Your Characters Butt While Fighting? Dunno Guess A Lotta People Really Are Perverts, Personally, I Look At The Scenery, And What's In front Of Me While Fighting, Or Walking Around. Granted There Will Be A Couple of Times I'll Look At My Character While Fighting, or Whan They're Wearing New Armor/Clothing, This Doesn't Mean I'm Going To Stare At Their Butt's The Whole Game. Even If I Was, Still, I'd Like To See Some more Armor On The Female Characters, Even Though Sex Sells, They Can Take it A bit Too Far, They Already Have With Those Cyber Games, Which I Think 3Feel Or Whatever It's Called Is meant For... Why Not Play One Of Those Games If You're Going To Look At A Male, Or Female Characters Butt?

Dexcross replied at 6:18 pm Apr 24,2009
I guess they don't want to be in that "red district area", but they saw that the elements will boost up their sales.

The game have good action impact but why the developer create armor too expose. I think the developer too pervert already.

Dexcross replied at 6:16 pm Apr 24,2009
They just think how to market their products better (in a way that maybe their perversion need being satisfied too LOL)

As long as the developers will keep the game good too, im fine with sexy outfits, x-blades was a nice hack & slash

Yes, it's not everything, the gameplay will still be the major influencer.

Well, games rarely design armor for the sake of armor, it's for the sake of athetics in the first place. I honestly don't mind sexy, cute, cool, cut up outfits on women as long as the charaters look like women and not little girls. That whole pedo thing never did much for me. Also, as long as the women look equally attractive as the men in the game. A lot of game the girls look so cute, but the males look like completely crap: IE WoW. The bodys of females and clothing have obvious had a lot more time and detail put into them then the male characters. Grandio Espanda did a good job at making both sexes appealing. So did Lineage. Final Fantasy does a good job too, but the faces were really bad for males in FFXI online

Dexcross replied at 6:15 pm Apr 24,2009
Lately, many games follow the pattern. RF Online, Perfect World (well depend on how you customized them), Rohan, and many more.

Who would choose to play as an ugly character? A character that no one can stand looking at or standing by?

Dexcross replied at 6:07 pm Apr 24,2009
Both will kick you out from any guild I guess, but if I have to choose, the one that no one can looking at, LOL. Funny questions.

They know that men are brain dead morons who will look at anything half naked. You don't even have to make a good game just throw in a woman with very  few clothes on and you've got a hit. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against sex. I'm just tired of seeing sex being used in place of good game play or storyline.  This is why we have so many shitty games out now. It's graphics over gameplay now or days which is the reason I don't MMO's much right now. This also applies to T.V and movies it's like few people know how to make GOOD shows or movies without reverting to sex every 10 seconds.

Dexcross replied at 6:06 pm Apr 24,2009
But like all the people said, sex sells and good shows, games, or whatever your product is, adding this elements is like buying insurance for the successful of your products XD.

Ditto ...

Despite the horrible grammar (plus the fact that I've seen enough of the terms "hot babes" and "sexy outfit" to last me my lifetime), yes, sex do sell, whatever people say about modesty in clothing.

Such advertisements are required to lure gamers into buying the game since most of the gaming community is dominated by males. Although there's a rising popuation of female gamers, the "sexy outfit" still holds true as this could let the female community try out outfits they could not get in real life.

Dexcross replied at 6:00 pm Apr 24,2009
That's why they put more and more sexy outfits.

Ivy from soul calibur wears literally strings for armour. you cant really classify armour that barely covers you as armour, can you?

but anyway it sells. i just dont get why a cheer leader in a sports commercial would sell. not like a cheer leader is actually going tocome u to you miraulously.

nice article though
