I don’t want to use the terms guild war because I don’t want people to misunderstand that this article is about Guild War, a great game from NCSoft. I am talking about guild vs guild. Some games called this guild with another terms, name it: faction, circle, order, etc. But still, usually the have a feature to have a war between guild.

So if you want to have a guild vs guild, here’s the best reason to do it in my opinion:
7. Game event
GMs announcing that a special event is being held and it’s a contest between guilds. Or maybe the game is implementing this routine event, guild vs guild. You have an active guild, so it’s no harm to participate in it, right? It’s a very logic reason to have a guild war. No further explanation needed, I think.
6. To show who’s better, who’s the best, who’s the strongest
Why would you form a strong guild if you never show it to other? Show them who’s the biggest, who’s the strongest, who’s the best, just like what Muhammad Ali did. It’s a good reason to have a guild war. No further explanation needed.
5. To take other guild’s property in game
It maybe named emperium, or castle, or district, or areas. But the basic is still the same. It will generate some benefits once you conquered them. So, why would you let other guilds to rule them if your guild is better than them? Let’s have a war and decide who’s the right owner of these properties.
4. To teach a lesson to some annoying arrogant noobs players
I will give an example for this case. This conversation took place in a PK enabled MMORPG server in my country:
A is hunting in a certain area.
B : Hey dude, help me.
A : How can I help you bro?
B : Plevel me man.
A : … Are you serious, u got higher level than I do, you’re the one that should plevel me.
The armor show that B is in higher level than A
B : I am serious, y wouldn’t I?
A : … SWT
B : OK, if you don’t want to plevel me, then give me some money.
A : … Ur level is higher than me, obviously u have more money than me, y should I hand u my money?
B : Just give me some money and I’ll be gone.
A : OMG, just get lost u crazy!
B : Silly noobs!
And with these words, suddenly B is attacking A. But somehow, even A’s level is lower than B, he managed to pawn B. My guess is B is not in full HP and he’s overconfident.
B : (whispering to A) stay there u stupid noobs, don’t get happy just because of this!
A : (whispering to B) we don’t need to carry on this, y can’t u let this go?
B : (whispering to A) chicken! Don’t run away you a**hole!
A was about to leave the area when B is coming again… with his whole guild! No matter high ur level is, if you were ganked with a guild, you won’t stand a chance. So A is getting pawned.
A : (chat to guild) Guys, do u have some times to hear me?
So A is calling our guild member and tell them this story. We packed our gear and off we go.
A : (whispering to B) r u still there?
B : (whispering to A) yeah I’m still here, what do u want dumbf**k? Wanna test our guild again? Come and get some.
So we go to the area, and guess what? We pawned them all in no time and I have to say: Sometimes REVENGE can taste SO SWEET!!! We teach them lesson not to be arrogant when they are the real noobs!!! Now, who’s your daddy??? LOL
Isn’t this a good reason to have a guild war?
3. For money
People in my country really love gambling. So I have heard that there are some guild wars because they fight for some money! “I bet your guild is no better than mine for $500”, that’s a good reason to have a guild war right?
2. In the name of love
We had this rumors going around that these 2 strong guild’s (they are not the strongest but they are strong) having war because of their guild leaders was fighting for a girl. This girl seems like she can’t decide which man is the “one” for her. So, as she met them online and start their triangle cyber love there, maybe she thought that it should be decided by the game. So whichever guild win, their leader will win her heart.
OMG, the time surely has changed! Back when MMORPG is not a popular words, some women getting impressed by men because of their physical appearance or performance. Never crossed in my mind that today, love can be winned by a virtual performance!
However, this girl must be very happy that she become the virtual Helen of Troy, where 2 big nations having a war. In this case, 2 big guilds having a war. What a good reason to start a war.
“So, in the name of love, I declare war to you!”
1. For the sake of GETTING LAID!
Well the rumor in point 2, giving birth to a new rumor. Later, I heard that this war between guild for this virtual Helen of Troy, is not just to win her heart, but because they can win her even “more” than that. And this “more” reason is … yes guys, is to win her in bed too! No wonder their guild leaders were eager to promise some money (real money, not the game money) to their guild members if they can win this guild war! They also pay some real money to hire mercenaries! OMG!
Can you imagine, that one girl login to the game and whisper this, “Honey, can you pawned this guild for me, and … purrrr… you can have me all you want to night.” And her man replying, “Baby, just sit there and watch me slaying this stupid guild, and I’ll be your mustang tonite.” LOL.
This is insane, I said. My friend ask me why I said that. Cuz I said, with the amount of money that this guild leader has spent, you can get laid elsewhere easily! But my friend said, “Bro, getting laid by winning a war, has different taste with going to bed with a paid chicks!” I was laughing hard by his comment, and said that if this rumor was true, for me it doesn’t make sense. He then again ‘enlightened’ me with his joke:
“Bro, have you ever heard about this theory? A man always has 2 heads. BUT the problem is that the blood is only sufficient for 1 head. So if the blood is going to 1 head, the other head is not functioning!”
ROTFLOL. So, OK it start to make sense to me. In fact, it started to become very clear, that getting laid is the numero uno reason for having a guild war!
