   Game Is A Bad Influence For Young People, MMORPG Especially, They Need To Be Banned!

Wait a second.Don鈥檛 flame me first for the title.It was a quote from one of my NON gamers fellow friend.Well, I鈥檓 not considering him as friend either ^^ because we just have a connection in business.I write this article in an instant because of his quote.I was planning on writing a review about a game and also I was drawing a fanart of certain online game.But I postpone it.

I was opening a recent article from MMOSite, 鈥Blamed on CS? College Killer Crazy for Violent鈥.When I was reading it, my friend was also reading it.And that words just come out from his mouth like a nail slamming in my ear, 鈥淕ame is a bad influence for young people, MMORPG especially, they need to be banned!鈥I was like WTF but then I try to calm my self down, and I start facing him, and give him some thought.

1.Tools

I asked him, what weapon that Steven Kazmierczak used to kill the 5 victims.And he said some guns.And then I said, why don鈥檛 you blame it on weapon shop who didn鈥檛 check his personality, before they sell them?And why don鈥檛 you blame on the country鈥檚 law which give him a chance to buy a weapon?And he said that it is not the weapon that drive him to kill people. It鈥檚 the game!And I said, it is not the game that drive him to kill people, but the environment and his personality that drive him.Why?Because I am very sure that such man when provided with any violence form, even if it鈥檚 not in the form of a game, he WILL kill somebody!Out of millions people who play CS, why would one person have to made a game to be banned?I played CS for years and yet, I never kill a single person in my life.You see, weapons are made as a defensive tools, not as a human killing tool.The law that give permission for someone to purchase a weapon is also a tool to give the right of self defense.Games are TOOLS for LIFE ENTERTAINMENT!It is not a tools to drive someone to kill anybody around him!So it's VERY STUPID to blame the tools!A knife is dangerous and only by seeing it, sometimes can made someone want to cut something!So do they banned it from our life???I am very sure, that Minh Le and Jess Cliffe never intend to make counter strike mod to drive people to kill each other.They would never imagine that the mod would be blamed for the Virginia Tech Massacre.

2. Personality

What really matter is who鈥檚 gonna use the tools.Give a knife to a psycho, definitely he will kill someone right away.Give a knife to a chef cook, you can get a very delicious food.Give a game to someone who鈥檚 already mentally sick, and you see another victims being shot.IF you already know that tools can be used in a wrong way by wrong person, don鈥檛 give it to him!I would never ever give a knife to my 20 months years old son, because I know exactly that he didn鈥檛 know what that tool is for.My friend is also blaming MMORPG because he has seen some articles about online gamers die because of marathon play without rest and eat.I said it was because that PERSON is stupid!It is not because of the game!I have to admit that sometimes I have sleepless nights because of some games.But because I am a normal person, I can still stop playing when the time has come.I am very happy to see that recently in some online game, there is a warning about playing in a long time without rest is not good for your health.Another good example is cigarettes.It鈥檚 bad everybody knows it.There is a warning about it鈥檚 effect.Yes they are prohibited in most area in health aware countries.But do they banned it?No!It is DEFINITELY bad for your health and surroundings, but it will depend on the person.

3. Media

Talking about drive, media is the easiest way to be blamed for something.When Superman was in the cinemas all over my country, there鈥檚 a kid that jump from the roof because he think he can fly and yes he鈥檚 dead.Is it because of Superman movie?It DID drive him to jump.So would they blame the media?Yes some of people did blame it.Did Superman being banned from our country?Not at all.Another sad stories is when WWF was aired in our television.A kid was die because he was being body slammed by his fellow friend copying the move in WWF.So is it because of the media?I don鈥檛 think so.It is because of the parent or anybody who already has an understanding in his environment.It鈥檚 their responsibility.聽聽 Why would you let your child watching the TV in the middle of the night?And you didn鈥檛 even give any guidance!

I had a son, and I told my friend I will DEFINITELY introduce him to gaming world, especially MMORPG.And I tell him that it is better to be addicted to games rather than to drugs.I can watch him playing game and monitor him rather than he seek another entertainment outside of our house and end up being a drug user.Another thing is that maybe game is going to be his business?Who knows?Yes, game has influence in our life.BUT, it will depend on how parents and the person who play it to use it.Stop blaming games.

for those that blame games as the cause of violence behavior of people:
+how many massive wars, how many people had killed each others even before games as in computer or video, exist?
+Sports, religions and educations do not have any elements to promote violent, yet there are crimes committe by people that belong to all types of classes and job.
So stop blaming it on one games ok?

Gaming is like another hobby like skateboarding or fishing, they are there to kill time, you can hurt your self fishing and skateboarding, that can build up agression, waiting all the time for that one big fish you never catch, or that one trick you fail at all the time. But i dont know why other ppl dont see it like that.

@Hyuk
Yes I agree it has caused numerous problems, but I don't ignore them. It will need solutions. I just don't want people to rite away blaming games as THE ONLY trigger. It's ridicilous.

@Oliase
Yes I do agree that sometimes games cause violence tendency. But again, it will come back to the personality. I got angry when I got PK-ed over and over, you can see it in my articles. That doesn't make me do violence thing toward my environment. My anger bring me to write an article to MMOSite. But put attention to the title of the news: "Blame on CS?". I don't think we should blame game for that.
As for blaming the shop and country, I am totally agree with you. That's why I said, you can't blame something because the tools is being used by fools.
I watched a TV show called Nanny 911. It's a good TV show for a new parents. And for all the episodes that already being aired in my country, all of the kid's problem is not coming from the kids! It's from their parents! We are the product of our family and our environment. What make us now is what has happened to our life before. Robert T Kiyosaki is concerned about our generation because we are being thaught about money, in traditional way! I know it's impossible to watch and monitor your kid 24/7. BUT I believe that a good education and a good discipline system, CAN make MOST of kids become better. In 2006, a research was conducted to found reasons why do Japanese have productivity more than the average productivity of other countries. The number one reason of that fact is because parent's influence, and in more specific fact, mother!
The whole point of my articles is you can not blame game as the only reason of Steve's crazy act.

Hate to tell you this but; Games do cause violence. It's not even a question anymore, they've conducted numerous experiments on the matter and it's been scientifically proven. If you had specifically targeted the MMOG genre, then you might be on the mark. The whole point of games causing violence is that they cause younger, and even older people sometimes, to get angry when they die or fail a mission.

Especially the games where you get the boss down in the red zone, die, and have to start a twenty-minute mission all over again. People get angry, and built up aggression causes violence.

A gun shop doesn't have to check your personality. And as far as blaming the country, that's basically insulting the entire constitution that gives us our rights, because that's what says we are legally allowed to buy and own guns for protection.

Perhaps he sucked at the game? Wouldn't you get pissed off if you got killed or fragged everytime you spawned? I know I see people get pissed in games like Fury where you can spawn right in the middle of a battle, rather then in a safe spot, and you don't have a shield for a couple seconds so you die right away.

Sorry, I just don't think it's a valid point at all considering the facts. You can't rely on a parent to keep a watch on their kids 24/7. That's not their job. It's the kid that needs to take care of himself. Unless you want mandatory psychiatric exams and mental exams every year for every citizen of your country, just to prove you're not retarded enough to believe things that the media portrays, it's not the parent's fault for allowing their kid to watch the movie. It's just the kid being ignorant, belligerent even.

It's no ones fault, but it's entirely reasonable to blame it on the movies. I mean, evidence of that is all around. Labels, ratings, warnings, all advising you against stupid things. Like on the t.v. show Jackass, it has the warning telling you not to perform the stunts. Well, there's an old saying that basically says kids will want to do something more when they're told not to. They just have a rebellious nature.

That's my two cents at least.

No doubt we strongly oppose the blame towards to game, especially MMORPG, then we can make lots of examples to testify we are innocent when something bad caused by games. Actually game does cause numerous problems, sometimes we just ignore this purposely to make ourselves feel better so that we can continue to enjoy games.

We should not blame to games, its the people who do the violence, not the game. Dont tell me they never know what is violence before they meet the game, violence happens along the human history, more than 100 years ago people dont know violence then?
