   Game Attention Deficit Disorder?

Lately I have been noticing a phenomena that has not only effected my gamer friends but myself as well. Now I am going to coin this phrase but I do believe it could be true. G.A.D.D. (Gamer Attention Deficit Disorder), this disorder I am going to refer to is most likely made up but the name is relevant to the concept. As with true A.D.D. a person is constantly distracted and is always looking, or more less finding, something else to focus on then what they should be. Now the reason I apply this to an idea about gamers is too fold, firstly in game play, and second in choice of games.
聽聽聽
聽聽聽 The standard G.A.D.D. afflicted gamer can be noticed quite early while in game with them. These are the people that when you start a raid or you want to PvP, possibly even help with a quest... they suddenly vanish or a slew of other 'symptoms'. Here is a list to show you all who may be afflicted with G.A.D.D. in game play; Sudden need to go to a bathroom as soon as rules for an event are being established and then complaining they didn't see the rules later, the 'leecher' a person who agrees to party with you in game and then chooses to do nothing but let you fight for them and sap all the experience away while they chase that pretty little pixelated butterfly (or insert any random monster or thing to look at in game) around like total morons, any person that can only be described as... "LEEEEEERRRROOOOYYYYYYY JEEEEEENNNNNKKKIIINNNNSSSS" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leeroy_Jenkins) or has done something similar to that individual, and who could forget the ' I was AFK and need to know everything that was just said ' gamer. There are several other symptoms that I am sure you all could list and know about but I believe for gameplay these are fairly prominent.

聽聽聽 The second form of G.A.D.D. (now being called G.A.D.D. Version 2.0 the fun wrecker... or G.A.D.D.2 for short) is when a player has gone from newbie gamer to a veteran gamer and has thought about the philosophical implications of continuing to play a game. People afflicted with G.A.D.D.2 are those that have played a countless number of games and have realized that for instance many MMORPG's are exactly the same as any other MMORPGs and could very well be totally pointless in playing. Now... there are two forms of symptoms that are present in individuals afflicted by this unhappy disorder. 1) The person in game constantly says how stupid the game is in comparison to their "favorite" game which tends to be a game that was either closed and is no longer running, or is a mainstream game such as WoW not giving a single ounce of incite into the gameplay of the current game they are in and then chooses to post in forums publicly about how much the game sucks without explaining "WHY" (These people are also known as 'Complete Tools' in vernacular... Don't be a tool stay in school kids ;D). In other words these people are so distracted by their 'favorite' game they ignore or completely deny the quality of other games. 2) The second set of symptoms is in comparison far worse for the person rather than those around them unlike set 1. These people never finish a game, or rarely do in spurts of long game play, and are continuously on the prowl for new games to hopefully fill their need for something new in gameplay. I can sadly announce that I have G.A.D.D.2 with the second set of symptoms, I know I know you can give me sympathy later as I don't really care at the moment, and it seems to afflict many a few people. The only cure is... INGENUITY!!! When games change from cookie cutter games to something brilliant and new you will see the G.A.D.D.2 people be cured and suddenly back into their gaming habits focusing on the games and continuing to play. I am sure most of you have had friends that play something then drop it quite suddenly without notice, that person is afflicted with G.A.D.D.2, I only ask you bare with them and help them find that truly ingenuitive game that of course NEEDS to be created. (Message to end Cookie Cutter Gaming! Rise up eat the cookies and join in the new!)
聽聽聽
聽聽聽 Remember everyone G.A.D.D. can effect anyone at anytime, and I hope none of you have to experience it. I constantly change games looking for the newest find, the best of the best, and my search is still on to find something new and fun. To all of you afflicted, I wish you luck and to those who don't be careful, because it can happen to anyone, at anytime... AHHHH!!!! No really be wary of friends and neighbors that are afflicted they may pass it to you. (Not that it is Contagious.)

*DISCLAIMER: G.A.D.D. or G.A.D.D.2 is not a real affliction please do not take the term seriously as it was only being used to help describe individuals involved in gaming.*

Wow.. Very descriptive

I've noticed I have G.A.D.D.2, the 2nd symptoms. I don't really have a "favorite game" but I don't usually stick with one. the one i've stuck with longest is WoW, and i keep going back to if i can't find anything. But then i remembered this site and i'm in the process of downloading a game. I hope i like it.

I also found Ragnarok Online 2 which i was jsut amazed by finding it. I've played Ragnarok and LOVED it, but when i tried to download 2, it didn't work. And i needed a KSSN >_>. That didn't really help with my G.A.D.D -.-

lol "LEEEEEERRRROOOOYYYYYYY JEEEEEENNNNNKKKIIINNNNSSSS" I know he is famous in WOW. For myself I think I'm not G.A.D.D of any form you mentioned. I didn't blame any other games but I don't have interest to play most games include my former favourite game WOW now.

Good article BTW.
