How To Win Players and Influence GuildsCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Jul 17, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

A few years ago I created a guild that continues to live on to this day. During the course of my leadership I tried to do my best to keep a united and fun guild. Unfortunately not everything was smooth in running the guild. We had spies, betrayals and other drama. Needless to say it even spilled into the forums and involved other guilds.
Here are some tips that I learned based on what I noticed was very effective. In addition some tips I've learned from marketing books and real life interactions.
Set A Goal
What is the purpose of your guild? Are you out to create havoc in the land or perhaps save make a league of heroic individuals. Your ability to communicate what your goal is an how your guild member communicate this to others will help establish your identity.
Additionally, this will help you recognize the profile of the guild member you want. If you want a very aggresive player killing guild you wouldn't want a dozen of loving teddy bears would you?
Create Rituals
Rituals are a great way to help your members feel like part of the clan. It might be an initiation ritual or a inside joke that you make every time a new guild member comes online |

Surviving your First MMORPG: Guilds/Crafting/PVPCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Jan 11, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Continuing from Building your Character, hopefully this quick guide can help you get the big picture of what happens inside the vast world of MMORPGs.On this section you will find general information about guilds, crafting concepts and Player versus Player dynamics. Guilds/Clans Most games support a Guild/Clan feature, if you are not familiar with the term guild think of it as a team. Just like on TV where they have "Blue Team vs Red Team" it’s a similar thing. In some games a single player can create a guild in exchange for gold and/or skill points, or he might need more players to "sign" an application(guild charter) and then register the guild. Within the guild there are guild ranks, usually the person who is the head of the guild is the Guild Master, Guild Leader or Clan Master. There are also more ranks for officers that have the power to invite more players into the guild and then the rest of the guild members don't have any add/remove powers. After the guild has been created it can be upgraded to hold more members. Again, exchanging gold and/ or skill points to perform the upgrade.
There are as many different types of guilds as type of players |

Defending Free To PlayCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Mar 22, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Lately I've been reading more and more complaints about players that just seem to hate the Free to Play model. I see it everywhere, in the forums, in the blog, in my cereal. And I'm sick tired of it. I keep reading and I never get to the part of someone replying "Oh no man Free to Play is really cool I like it .." No, the rest is just people nodding and as usual throwing in additional complaints of their own. Well I think Free To Play needs a lawyer, and since I would go down defending it, here is my effort on paying Free To Play back for all the fun that I've had.
Start Curiosity was what brought me to online games, I had heard about World of Warcraft, but since I couldn't afford it, I didn't even google it. Later, I saw more and more references to online games from the TV series I watched and gaming websites, and I became inevitably more curious by the hour. One day when I finally embarked on the quest to play online I saw "Free to Play!" on a web banner and I thought to myself "There is hope!!". I kept browsing and I found Rose Online, I downloaded and played for a while, but later I read the website more carefully an |

Surviving your First MMORPG: Building Your CharacterCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Jan 05, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Welcome to the second part of Surviving your First MMORPG, the first part was The Basics. If you haven't chosen your MMORPG yet, please read How to Choose a MMORPG. Careers Every game has their own career selection, they can be called careers or classes, maybe even jobs. This is a quick generalized guide and it doesn’t apply to every game out there. Here are some of the most common types: Archer(Ranged) It can use a bow or not, usually their defense is not very high, but they rely on high damage level to kill their mob before they mob reaches them. They work really well at dealing quick damage when they have as warrior to tank for them.
Mage/Enchanter This type of character might use a book or a staff and like the archer has low defense but has very high damaging attacks. If you fight a mage, they are going to use several powers to stun you and even turn your character into an animal (It happened to me, and it was not cool-_- ) I think Elementalists would also fall in the mage category, they are called that because they use Fire, Ice, Water, and/or Earth based attacks.
Summoner This players are similar to the mage class, they can cast spells as well; but, as their name describes, th |

![]() Today is the day, you have been hearing about MMORPG's from your friends, you have seen advertisements online, you have talked about it in the water cooler at work, and now you are ready. Your fingers are sweaty, you have carefully chosen a MMORPG you would like to play, you closed the door so nobody can disturb your gameplay. You register your account and you get stuck choosing your password because you are too excited to think about a password. You are done, your account is made, and you close any other program that is running your computer. You shut the window, and close the blinds. You click the game launcher, and turn up the volume of the speakers, the credits begin on dark screens and tiny game developer intros. You are drooling and can't wait to start your epic adventure that you will remember for years to come. The amazing computer generated introduction for the game is done, now you are not just drooling, you are at the edge of your seat, you eyes are wide open. You see the login screen, you type as fast as you can, so fast it gives you an error and you retype it again as fast as a lightning. You land at the server selection, PVP? PVE? Role Play Server? ummm whateve |

How to Choose a MMORPGCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Dec 20, 2007 Add to Bookmark |

Wait a minute, I'm a very smart person and I like games, I don't need CesarSuki to tell me how to choose my own freakin' games!. Well yes you are right, but MMORPGs are a big deal, and don't worry nobody is going to know that you read this. This is not a fool-proof guide on selecting a MMO but hopefully it might help you learn a few pointers you must watch out for.
Theme So what do you want to be? A quiet elf living in a mythical world? A brave knight that fights humongous monsters? how about a captain of a space ship? There are a wide variety of themes to choose, and usually plenty of games in every category. There are also games specifically for a more mature audience like 2Moons where chat is not filtered and you can curse until your fingers hurt (the NPCs will treat you like trash, but anyway....). Even if you are looking for a game for your child, beware that childish looking games have plenty of older, even senior, players in it. So follow the steps below to make sure your child doesn't get bullied or other bad stuff. Consider your theme to be the starting point of your quest to find your MMORPG. PC Requirements Video Many games require you to have |

Anger Management for GamersCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Sep 15, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

| "Because everyone can tell you when you are being a jerk, but few can help you stop being one."- CesarSuki 1. Admit you have a problem. Ugh I hate the first step in every step program is like the dumbest most uncomfortable thing ever. And it's followed by an even more uncomfortable thing to do like "meet the person next behind you" or "stand up and present yourself to the group". So I'll tell you this: you don't have a problem for the simple fact that we all get angry every now and then. Even if the most peaceful person you know doesn't turn green like the Hulk and roar at you. Most likely that person is calm because he/she is looking at a mental video where they are smashing a chair on your head. 2. Breathe. Yeah stop banging at the keyboard because your WoW character got ganked, that is not helping you and you are just asking for high blood pressure problems. I recommend you go to the most comfortable chair in your house and just sitting there until you can control your breathing. And NO, googling "Tibetan relaxation techniques" is not going to help. Just plan your Tibetan vacation at a later date because you are going to end up pla |

The F WordCategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Jul 21, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Back in the day the F word was almost unheard of when people spoke about online gaming. But as time has gone by the words has become almost common place. And players use it to talk about everything. Some small companies use it all over their websites, and other more serious companies like Blizzard or NCsoft don't use it almost at all in their products.
There are posts everyday in every single forum with the F word in its header. And there are flashing banners in every website with the word on it.
When I first saw it I must confess I was truly excited, I was completely sold to the idea and I have even stood by the F word. And later it stopped meaning something cool and turned into something annoying and desperate. They now use it almost for everything and I think they should use a similar term rather than keep recycling it over and over again.
Nowadays I get mixed feelings when I hear it:
"Oh no, here we go again"
"That's great!"
"F*** really?!"
Even though the F word is easier to re |

The Battle of the Sexes MMORPG Style: Part ICategory: General mmorpg's Posted on Jun 26, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

![]() Introduction
Through the years women have not been allowed to participate actively in the military combat activities from the armies in most parts of the world. Very few women can be recognized as famous military figures such as Jeanne D’Arc. Until very recently women have acquired a more important role in the military institutions. No longer are women seen as just helpful for cleaning and cooking, which are just ancient stereotypes. Nowadays, women have gone to great lengths to prove that they can do whatever men can do, but can they beat us in the art of war? In this article we will try to examine the role of women gamers in a MMORPG environment as commanders, military strategists, soldiers, and warriors.
War Simulation
If we consider online games to be a war simulation, we would have several elements we could compare to a real one: Finite Resources Such as gold, mana, potions, elixirs, hp, etc. Diverse Team Members with Different Skills Which represent the different classes we find in every game: mages, warriors, archers, hunters, etc. Different Maps that require different strategies Low visibility maps, open planes, wo |
