Blogging 101

Is your blog not getting as much attention as you think you deserve? Well maybe you need a few tips, join me and lets explore some topics that might help get your blog into that shiny spot light. Don't worry I'm not an English teacher or something like that, this is a quick guide to get your started, as usual, comments or suggestions are welcome.

Structure
As readers we are mostly used to a Introduction-Content-Conclusion form of reading, if you are a rebel when writing and can't stand guidelines you may decide your own experimental聽 structure, but it might lose the attention of your reader.

Even though it is a classic structure, if you want mmosite readers to consider you as a serious blogger, you might want to use it for some sample blogs and compare it to your previous posts.

Quick Sample

Introduction
I like fruits.I聽 like apples, bananas, and kiwi.

Content
Apples are red.

Bananas are yellow.

Kiwis are green.

Conclusion
I like fruits because they are sweet and they don't make me fat fast like chocolates :P

Additionally, I've noticed that one-liner blog posts are becoming popular. I think this is a remarkable adventurous thing to do, and to actually pull this off as a great article will require a lot of thinking. If you are just saying hi, it is OK I guess, but my advice is at least write 5 lines, who are you, why do you like to play games, what type of game are you playing right now etc etc... I believe everyone has a lot to say but don't know what to actually say.

Formatting
Use the toolbar:
MMOsite toolbar

Even though it seems harmless, this little toolbar can make a big difference. Using bold titles, and different colors in your font can emphasize a message and provide a clearer understanding. Of course use common sense, don't abuse colors or your blog will look like聽 a Caesar Salad.

Language
This can become polemical, everyone in the internet uses a different language style. Myself for example am a total different talker when I'm in the game, but I try to keep it understandable, yes I know you are very original and use a bit of slang here and there, but if you overuse it, you will lose a great part of your audience.

Here is an extreme sentence example:

"Yo wassap batos watcha doing esos, I was yast runnin round and saw you locos fitin, mejor parenle esos, da gm is coming and he is going to get all loca all over you rly."

Imagine if I translated my How Games Are Made聽 article into this kind of english-spanish-slang language, it would become a major pain to read, and you will lose a significant part of the message.

I write my articles in English but the same will apply if you are writing in your native language, because the slang usually varies from region to region.

Images
Images can help you keep your readers' interest, because we read and then relate it too the image we see.
If your post consist mostly of images it's nice to know where you found them.
If you want to post images you have on your computer, you can use image hosts such as imageshack.us to upload them, then copying the last link and pasting it after pressing the Image button in your blog writing area.

Please write a warning in your title or your header if images contain adult imagery (from adult mmorpgs and such) I am not sure if this is required by mmosite, but is the polite thing to do.For help on this you can ask lean.

Your Avatar
This feature from mmosite will give you a significant advantage over other forms of blogging.

Use a personalized avatar, I think I don't really distinguish between mmosite's stock avatars, there are so many and yet so similar. A personalized avatar can help your readers relate your avatar image to your pen name (pen name = CesarSuki for me). Also you can say something about your personality or the game you are currently playing.

Closure
A couple has been dating for 6 years now, and all of the sudden the girl just arrives at the boy's workplace and throws him a black plastic bag with all his stuff inside it. She turns around, not saying a word, and he never sees her ever again.

What happened? Was she being unfaithful?聽 Was he cheating? Did she discovered they were blood related? What WHAT W-H-A-T?!!!

You need some sort of closure, some conclusion to your posts, open ended paragraphs that don't lead to anywhere in particular can lead to frustration, like the one line story you just read above.

Writing Block

Well I hope this short guide helped you gain some ideas on how to write your article, and I will soon read the title on the main page. We are mmorpg players, and hence we are more sociable, don't be shy to write what you think even if it sounds crazy, there might be a few people that agree.

Best of Luck,
CesarSuki
