10 Things MMORPGs Need
Category: General mmorpg's Game: Default Posted on Feb 18, 2008 12:22 am
1 Psychologist NPC
Are all those hours of intense grinding are causing your character to perform poorly?. Maybe your avatar is experiencing a mid-level crisis. It's time to visit your local shrink, and maybe he can give your avatar's mind a little tune up.
Some known illnesses:
Battlefield-phobia
Cause when your avatar's corpse was camped for over 2 hours.
MMOAlsheimer
You are positive that the item you want to sell to your buddy was on your inventory, then you check the warehouse and now it's gone! wait? where are you? who are all of these people calling you "guild mate" aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Rogue-o-phobia
Severe trauma caused by being constantly killed by invisible rogues. Symptoms are severe paranoia and fear of logging in.

2 Creative Writing For Spammers
I don't like them, you don't like them. If we can't get rid of them, can't we at least put a little lipstick on them?
Is "CHEAP GOLD VISIT ________.com" like the gold selling industry standard or what the heck? If they are going to bore us to death with their darn bots, can't they at least program them with some nice catchy phrases?. I mean if your TV programming is as good as in my area, then you will soon realize that some commercials are more creative and entertaining than some shows. So, they farm gold, well in the time they are repetitively grinding for their precious currency, can't they at least think of a better slogan than "Cheap Gold!" Ugghhh enough about this nuisances, next point please!!!

3 Coliseum
It has happened in a few games I've played, the arena is not exactly an arena, is more like a square that people get it in and poke each other's character until it falls down. In the spirit of bringing more attention to this game feature I would like to propose a coliseum, some way that we could "park" our characters and then move our camera around to get the best angle. It is a pain to be moving around until you can catch a glimpse of the action, and not to mention it would look really cool.

4 Convenient Stores
Whenever I am stacking on supplies is like a wild goose chase, I have to run to every store to get what I need. And don't even think about buying everyday consumables at player stores, they usually price stuff like 200% above the NPC prices.
How about making a tiny store with a NPC every now and then in the middle of the road with a little bit of everything, a few small potions, a few small daggers, and a few rags. Just like a convenient store, just a one stop shop for "I really, really need this stuff but I really, really don't want the pain of the city LAG"

5 Motorcycles
"Motorcycles? Dude, we have horses". Yes I know that! but look at me and say you wouldn't like to be riding a motorcycle with a straight face. Maybe it would be applicable only for sci-fi MMOs, or we could find some last minute excuse to put them in an adapted version in a fantasy world.

6 Ignore Player Option
Is he or she just driving you nuts? did you already blocked that player from your friend list but you still see his/her ugly face running around? Well I have the solution for your problems!!! (gee I sound like an infomercial now >_> ).
With my new and improved Ignore Player Option you will not see that player ever again!!! just select the character, right click, select Ignore forever and TA DA!!! gone. Just be careful, because this is permanent, and side effects include not able to inflict/receive damage to that character, no trading, or any activity with this character.
We can't delete annoying people in the real world, but with my brand new Ignore Player Option you are going to wish you had it in real life!!!!

7 Noobdar®
This is a must-have gadget for every MMO player out there, just turn it on and you will be able to detect any noob around your area. You don't have to grind in an area full of noobs, with your noob radar you don’t have to worry about that any more. No more dummies ksing your mobs. No more immature kids screaming profanities. Play noob free, get your Noobdar® today.

8 Player Published Magazines
How about we can implement a RSS reader to bring to you the latest blog from your favorite writer? Or maybe you can get the latest news, patch details, or latest boss strategy?. Maybe some way we can get a feed from the outside world into our virtual world. Maybe you could browse through your favorite MMOSite Game Blogs while you are waiting for your buddies for a raiding session.
The other take on this is a catalog(inside the game) where you can download a player published magazine into your computer(your backpack) and then carry it around with you in the virtual world. Who knows, maybe you can be the next winner of a Pulitzer prize for MMORPG writing!!!

9 Pizza Searcher
Have you ever played for like 5 hours until your stomach starts screaming for food, but you are just too lazy to fetch the phone and call the pizza place?.
Well with the Pizza Searcher you will not only have a local directory of pizza places, but you will also have special discounts!. I mean, geez you don't have to think too much to figure out what players need when they are grinding their butts off. And not even annoying in-game pop-ups would be necessary. Just click, order, get your behind to the door for 20 seconds and your pizza will be charged to your credit card!

10 Legendary Weapons
No, this is not your usual "Epics" this is more like your personal achievement engraved on your weapon.
When players look at the description of weapons they would read something like:
"xXbearXx defeated the Spartans guild master with this sword."
"sexycat killed 1000 hyper venomous giant spiders with these daggers"
"Drbanana killed the great evil minion that lives in the dark mountain with this spear"
