Continuing from Building your Character, hopefully this quick guide can help you get the big picture of what happens inside the vast world of MMORPGs. On this section you will find general information about guilds, crafting concepts and Player versus Player dynamics.
Guilds/Clans
Most games support a Guild/Clan feature, if you are not familiar with the term guild think of it as a team. Just like on TV where they have "Blue Team vs Red Team" it’s a similar thing. In some games a single player can create a guild in exchange for gold and/or skill points, or he might need more players to "sign" an application(guild charter) and then register the guild.
Within the guild there are guild ranks, usually the person who is the head of the guild is the Guild Master, Guild Leader or Clan Master. There are also more ranks for officers that have the power to invite more players into the guild and then the rest of the guild members don't have any add/remove powers.
After the guild has been created it can be upgraded to hold more members. Again, exchanging gold and/ or skill points to perform the upgrade.

There are as many different types of guilds as type of players there are inside games. It would take me a whole other post to explain how some guilds work. I suggest you join a guild before creating one, and then later make your own.
Quick Tips on Guilds/Clans
- Some guilds will boot you from the guild if you are not very active, be sure to ask if you have to be online often to be in the guild.
- Ask If the guild is hostile, friendly, or just neutral towards other players or guilds.
- Ask how many guild members are there.
- At least have an idea of what kind of guild are you getting into, have a good long talk with the person inviting you, because it has to be clear to you if you are a guild member that matters, or just another number to bulk up the guild.
- Avoid guild-hopping that is changing guilds often, nobody likes guild-hoppers and Guild Masters warn other Guild Masters not to let you in if you are known to be one.
Crafting
There are several crafting jobs you can take in games, common ones are:
Blacksmith
Making weapons

Tailor/Armor Maker
Making Armor, and sometimes shields.
Alchemist/Pharmacist
Making health potions, mana potions, buff potions, and more.

The basic premise for crafting is you acquire the ability from a NPC and then you gather ingredients for the items that you need to make based on a recipe, for some games you need to have a recipe on your inventory, for others you just have to take the ingredients to the NPC and then pay some gold for the processing.
Crafting can make you a very valuable player, you can make items and sell them for gold. Also guilds sometimes require you to have a crafting ability to contribute to the guild.
Possible Features:
In some games when you craft, the item you made has legend saying who made the item, "Created by Suki" it might read hehehe, sometimes crafters are stopped by strangers and told "Hey I'm wearing some armor you made!!".
PVP
Player Versus Player is well… self explanatory.. But it can be without your consent if you are in a "Unsafe area" usually outside of towns. Watch out if the games tells you "You are Entering an Unsafe Zone" or something like a guild is the owner of a piece of land. You might get attacked no questions asked.
Duel:
A player sends you an invitation to duel, you accept and then you see a three second countdown. 3 .. 2 …1…. START! Time to hit your opponent with all you've got!

Now before you duel, beware if you are defeated a message will be broadcast to the area… "UbERpwNeR has defeated CesarSuki on a duel",….oh great, there goes my last piece of dignity.
After the duel, you might gain some points every games calls it a different thing, some points are just to brag and in other games you can trade them for cool items.

Clan Fight/GuildWar:
It can be timed, the Guild Masters bet some gold and then initiate the war, then its like a soccer game, the guild with the most kills after the time ends wins the gold.
Other types of guild wars are for territory or because they are opposing factions.

Arena:
Just like in the Roman Coliseum, get ready to wave to your public as you get into the battles that might add to your reputation or get you smashed face-to-the-ground.
The setting could be 1vs1, 3vs3, 5vs5, etc.. Usually the arena is like a sandbox for players to practice their PVP skills, but check with your game guide to see if you are better off doing duels with your friends.
Other:
2Moons for example as a particular event called "Dead Front" according to the MMOSite news posted on 11-27-2007 "Up to four rival parties can compete in an assault on the impregnable Pokas Fortress, fighting their way through hordes of monsters and sub-bosses. After defeating the boss demon Ophiuchus, each remaining team fights in a free-for-all PvP massacre to become the Supreme Warriors!" .. sort of a "Last Player Standing" concept
