Today is the day, you have been hearing about MMORPG's from your friends, you have seen advertisements online, you have talked about it in the water cooler at work, and now you are ready. Your fingers are sweaty, you have carefully chosen a MMORPG you would like to play, you closed the door so nobody can disturb your gameplay. You register your account and you get stuck choosing your password because you are too excited to think about a password. You are done, your account is made, and you close any other program that is running your computer. You shut the window, and close the blinds. You click the game launcher, and turn up the volume of the speakers, the credits begin on dark screens and tiny game developer intros. You are drooling and can't wait to start your epic adventure that you will remember for years to come. The amazing computer generated introduction for the game is done, now you are not just drooling, you are at the edge of your seat, you eyes are wide open. You see the login screen, you type as fast as you can, so fast it gives you an error and you retype it again as fast as a lightning. You land at the server selection, PVP? PVE? Role Play Server? ummm whateve

Welcome to the second part of Surviving your First MMORPG, the first part was The Basics. If you haven't chosen your MMORPG yet, please read How to Choose a MMORPG.
Careers Every game has their own career selection, they can be called careers or classes, maybe even jobs. This is a quick generalized guide and it doesn’t apply to every game out there. Here are some of the most common types: Archer(Ranged) It can use a bow or not, usually their defense is not very high, but they rely on high damage level to kill their mob before they mob reaches them. They work really well at dealing quick damage when they have as warrior to tank for them.
Mage/Enchanter This type of character might use a book or a staff and like the archer has low defense but has very high damaging attacks. If you fight a mage, they are going to use several powers to stun you and even turn your character into an animal (It happened to me, and it was not cool-_- ) I think Elementalists would also fall in the mage category, they are called that because they use Fire, Ice, Water, and/or Earth based attacks.
Summoner This players are similar to the mage class, they can cast spells as well; but, as their name describes, they summ

Lately I've been reading more and more complaints about players that just seem to hate the Free to Play model. I see it everywhere, in the forums, in the blog, in my cereal. And I'm sick tired of it. I keep reading and I never get to the part of someone replying "Oh no man Free to Play is really cool I like it .." No, the rest is just people nodding and as usual throwing in additional complaints of their own. Well I think Free To Play needs a lawyer, and since I would go down defending it, here is my effort on paying Free To Play back for all the fun that I've had.
Start Curiosity was what brought me to online games, I had heard about World of Warcraft, but since I couldn't afford it, I didn't even google it. Later, I saw more and more references to online games from the TV series I watched and gaming websites, and I became inevitably more curious by the hour. One day when I finally embarked on the quest to play online I saw "Free to Play!" on a web banner and I thought to myself "There is hope!!". I kept browsing and I found Rose Online, I downloaded and played for a while, but later I read the website more carefully and realized

Wait a minute, I'm a very smart person and I like games, I don't need CesarSuki to tell me how to choose my own freakin' games!. Well yes you are right, but MMORPGs are a big deal, and don't worry nobody is going to know that you read this.
This is not a fool-proof guide on selecting a MMO but hopefully it might help you learn a few pointers you must watch out for.

Theme So what do you want to be? A quiet elf living in a mythical world? A brave knight that fights humongous monsters? how about a captain of a space ship?
There are a wide variety of themes to choose, and usually plenty of games in every category. There are also games specifically for a more mature audience like 2Moons where chat is not filtered and you can curse until your fingers hurt (the NPCs will treat you like trash, but anyway....).
Even if you are looking for a game for your child, beware that childish looking games have plenty of older, even senior, players in it. So follow the steps below to make sure your child doesn't get bullied or other bad stuff.
Consider your theme to be the starting point of your quest to find your MMORPG.

My sweet love. How can I start to explain what I feel about you if I can’t ignore what the people think about how I feel? They say that I’m a boy that never grew up, that it’s just a silly illusion. Who gave them the right to decide what I feel? I learned at an early age that love was being there for the person you love no matter what. You have been there for me when I was down, when I threw my hopes out the window and gave up on life. You picked me up and talked me through it; day after day you have been there for me. More than just two desperate strangers that met on chat room, we collaborate inside the game and learn more about each other every day. I have learned to love you through every word, through every thought. I can’t sleep if you didn’t login into the game as usual and you didn’t reply my messages. I worry about you more than you can ever imagine. Because I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you, who would I call? How would I help you? Here I sit looking at the screen, typing away what I feel about you in the keyboard. I knew there was somewhere out there only for me, someone that I could trust, someone that I could laugh and cry with, someo

Something New, Something Old, Something Borrowed, Something Copied? The term "New Game" usually means that you might expect a different experience from a new product. Nevertheless, the tem in the video game industry very rarely means that it is an entirely new concept. Most of the games we can obtained that are "New" are following a specific formula or sequence of events that we are already familiar with. For example First Person Shooters (FPS) you know that of course you will have to shoot your way through the game, but there are many things that have been done that have renewed the genre since Wolfenstein 3D. Great examples of excellent landmarks for the genre are Call of Duty 4 and the Halo series. In the early years of MMORPG development not many developers worried about similar games popping out, because it was just very expensive to take on a project like a MMORPG and there was not enough demand for online multiplayer games. Recently, Maplestory one of the games with one of the largest communities has seen a very similar game come into the market. I have never played Maplestory but I tried the alleged clone to see what was my experience like

Through the games I've played, even though they are not many I have found a recurrent problem in each one of them. Either I get too many useless things on mi inventory and/or my inventory is full before I even do my third quest. My inventory tends to get filled with lower level quest items that are worth close to nothing, or don't sell well because nobody does that ~boring quest~. In some games I even need to do a special inventory quest which is usually of royal pain proportions. I know that it would be too much to ask to have infinite inventory, but I wish we could have more useful items overall. In game design theory, dead squirrels are useless things that players carry in their inventories, which is something game designers should try to avoid. But apparently MMO developers didn't get the memo, because we have to struggle to get all the dead squirrels out of our way when we are trying desperately to find a health potion. Wish list I wish I could do more with things inside games, for example if I have a rock, a string and a stick I could build a rough bow. But so far I haven't found a class that "Invents stuff". I wish I had a search function where I c

Warhammer Age of Reckoning is due on the shelves in the second Quarter of 2008, that is, if it's not delayed again. Over 600,00 applicants have signed up for the Beta phase of the game; and it has won several "Most Anticipated" awards among others. There is no single word that can describe WAR, but I sailed on a quest to gather more information about it since I've seen quite a few threads here and there about how it compares to WoW. I don't intend to go into every single detail here, just a quickie for discussion purposes. Once Upon a War Warhammer made its debut on 1983, it was written by Bryan Ansell, Richard Haliwell and Rick Prestley. It was a tabletop war game, created by Games Workshop called Warhammer Fantasy Battle. It included races such as: - Elves
- Dwarfs
- Undead
- Orcs
- Goblins
- Vampires
Since it's release it has been periodically re-released and updated. The latest version dates from September 9th 2006. Okay, so when did Warhammer first jump into our PCs? It happened in 1995, the title of the game was Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat.
Shadow of the Horned Rat didn't got much attention, because it was very buggy and difficult at the time of it's release. Neverthel
