Rant - Not enough variety?

Category: Rant Game: Default Posted on Sep 10, 2009 9:11 am

Last night I was bored, so my friend told my to go look up some games (told me this cuz he thought I was crazy telling him I actually wanted to do HW, lol.) So I decided to go mmo-browsing on the net. It took me FORVEVER to find something I liked and wanted to play or was able to play.  It's cuz I practically already played most of the games out there already, that they've already become boring. (Time for a life? lol I actually have one outside.) So yeah, my gerenal cause of the blog is saying that there's not enough variety of mmo games (genre-wise) that would give off that "spark" to catch someone's eye. Differences from your average Flyff to something unique like S4 League, to something more unique like Mabinogi or DOMO, to sports games like Pangya/Albatross18, to something like Lunia or Ghost X, to MMOFPS games like Operation 7 or Wolf Team, to turn based games like Atlantica.

Sure it seems like a lot, but once you try them all out in less than a year which is likely you will, what will you have left at the end of the night? Will you be bored at the peak of the lvl slow-down? And if so, wut other mmos would you turn to? In this case, the most recent new mmos have been targeting only a specific group of people which I don't like. Either little kids or Adults, but none in the middle. Not to mention (my personal opinion,) the "point n click" mmo gaming is getting to be boring. The WASD type gaming is much more fundamental. All the good looking ones are PnC sadly. And even if it would be a PnC game, I rarely see any mmos that have created their own "language" like Mabinogi and DOMO. Those will pull gamers in. And that will pull gamers like me in.

DOMO have its own language since it's being translated well from its Chinese version, keeping some names as pinyin of their Chinese symbols, creating an authentic Chinese MMO experience.

Well ... MMOs are practically the same if we came down to the basics, so I would suggest you try some turn-based games like FF and Aion, maybe that will interest you.
