.hack//G.U. Vol 1, 2, and 3 ReviewCategory: Reviews Posted on 2009-01-31 08:28:08 Add to Bookmark |

The .hack series was one of the first to split their game up into multiple parts due to the length of the story. Each game in the series focused on a specific part of the overall story. .hack G.U. was a trilogy released a few months apart from each other. It is based around an MMORPG known as “The World: R2” in which the players rely on hunting each other and performing Player Kills (PK) rather than play the game for themselves. Although its predecessor was a flop, the G.U. Series was a complete turn around for the series. This review will combine the 3 G.U. games (Rebirth, Reminiscence, and Redemption) into 1 gigantic review. I will attempt to minimize spoilers. There is a lot of stuff so I might forget a few things. G.U. has multiple meanings, but its primary meaning is suppose to be Grow Up which is a reference to Haseo, the main character in the series. Screenshots are once again obtained from RPGamer.com Story: NOTES: This game is VERY depressing. Haseo starts off losing everything he ever had. All his friends, everything he sacrificed to get up to where he was and he is left with nothing but rage and hatred for Tri-Edge. From that point it only goes downhill fo |

For anyone who cares. I placed in item mall into factoring the overall score of the game, but it just reduced the overall score of the game. |

Messed Up PC = PS2 Reviews, Persona 4 ReviewCategory: Reviews Posted on 2009-01-28 11:59:35 Add to Bookmark |

Since my computer has been having issues for a while now, I've been focusing a lot more on my PS2 RPGs and MMOs are limited in number. If I can find a way to get a bit more of Lunia I could have another MMO review soon but that depends on if I can get access to another computer which is doubtful. If I get very bored I might go over to DS as well but Xbox RPGs traditionally suck so I'm staying away from there. Persona 4 is the latest installment in the Shin Megami Tensei games. Persona 4 specifically focuses on a mute main character who is attempting to solve a mystery and you get to obtain “Personas” to help you in battle. NOTE: Images are taken from RPGamer.com Story: The story starts off as the main character (no fixed name, make up your own) arrives at a town where he will be studying at school for the next year or so. When he arrives, his uncle and his daughter arrive to pick him up. A mysterious gas attendant greets the main character and shakes his hand. Soon after his arrival mysterious murders start to occur. No one knows how these murders are happening. All that they know is that the bodies are all hung the same way with no forensic evidence. Eventually th |

Games are bad for you (according to Brigham Young University)Category: Other Posted on 2009-01-25 05:23:07 Add to Bookmark |

Here is a link to the original article http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,705279681,00.html If you want to buy their complete study it costs $35 which is a rip off considering that you can find the same study done by much more qualified people and for free. Everything we found associated with video games came out negative...But I don't want parents to go out and yank all video games. It's like TV. We have to choose what's good and bad and practice moderation. -----quote. According to studies done at Brigham Young University led by Laura Walker, all video games are bad for people period. For those who aren't aware yet, Utah is currently attempting to create legislation to place more restrictions of video games and their sales. As a result, this study is heavily biased and politcally charged. It has been quietly developing for quite some time now like other legislations that they don't want you to know about. For example, the Pro-IP Act. I doubt anyone knows what it is, but it allows a branch of the executive office to take actions on copyright violations by seizing all electronic devices in the given location where the violation occured. An example is if someone was using the wi |

Deco Online ReviewCategory: Reviews Posted on 2009-01-15 11:35:44 Add to Bookmark |

Deco Online is a game that I have been playing for a while now. I purposely waited for this game to see what the new updates and item mall items would bring to the game. Especially since what nDoors pulled with Atlantica's item mall system. The basis of the game is about 2 warring nations that basically represent science and religion. Science being physical based and religion being magic based. The combat system here is more interactive, but is not much different from other games. Based on the information I have, the English version is shutting down on January 30 due to lack of players. Story: Millenia and Rain are 2 different groups that opposed each other. They had opposing viewpoints on what should be done and as a result, the people who would eventually become the Rain nation were basically exiled from Millenia. As you can imagine, they did not like that idea very much. For more information, read their official website. The in game story does not elaborate much on the story or history and mainly focuses on your own personal development. Graphics: The graphics of Deco Online are not great, but they are not bad either. It would be something in the middle. A consistent style is |

Some Computer IssuesCategory: News Posted on 2009-01-15 09:24:00 Add to Bookmark |

My computer has been having some hardware issues so I won't be reviewing a lot of MMOs until it gets fixed. The exceptions are the ones that I have been playing about a week ago but I don't think a lot of people will care about those games. In the mean time, I might go to some console RPGs if I get bored enough. I have a PS2 with lots of RPGs anyways although they're not MMOs, they're still fun. I'll try to get to some more MMOs if I can get access to a computer with decent specs but I probably won't. Deco Online review should be up later |

Why the Vagabonds of 9Dragons should remain VagabondsCategory: Other Posted on 2009-01-14 08:50:32 Add to Bookmark |

For a while now (since the advance mastery and 2nd role change patch), there has been an increase in the number of players who want new skills and features for vagabonds because of the new gap in abilities created by the 2nd role change. A large number of these changes that players demand destroy the point of being a vagabond in the first place. Keep in mind that a vagabond is generally a wanderer, someone who does not stay in 1 place for long and is generally unassociated with the powers that be in the area. This entry is the reasons why vagabonds should remain true to themselves as vagabonds. For now, the following are the ones that I can think of. 1) Vagabonds are vagabonds because they are unorganized I cannot stress this fact enough. The reason that vagabonds are vagabonds are because they are unorganized. The moment they start organizing themselves in any way outside of a party for a specific purpose, it forms into something that is pretty much a clan. Even a party would be considered to be pushing it. The only one that would make any sense is a small group formed for the sole purpose of completing a single task in the short term. If this becomes long term, it would |

Overrated Games of 2008Category: Other Posted on 2009-01-14 09:56:42 Add to Bookmark |

These are in no particular ranking order, just a list. 1) Call of Duty: World At War Call of Duty: World at War is like pretty much all of the other Call of Duty games but the exception to this one is that it takes place in the Pacific battles rather than the European battles like their other games. The difference is that rather than focusing on assaults in this game, you're focused on escaping this time. It uses the same cutscene system as the rest. The realism is great like the other Call of Duty games, but thats the same problem. The game is short and there's nothing new to bring. The multiplayer system is an exact copy of Battlefield's as well. I am bias towards Battlefield because of Battlefield 2142 where you can have launch pods, giant bipedal robots, and emp devices all over the place with surprise air strikes and artillery launches by commanders. Both games are similar in their multiplayer aspect, but Battlefield has established it and it came before Call of Duty so I consider Call of Duty just a rip off of it. 2) Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 I'm a fan of RPGs, but Persona 4 had no difference from Persona 3 other than the "extended" story. Rather than calling it |

When Crusades Go Bad (Hating Jack Thompson)Category: Other Posted on 2009-01-05 09:59:31 Add to Bookmark |

Has anyone else noticed that over the years people have been actively against the spread of various forms of entertainment targetted towards younger audiences? In the early 1950s the US attempted to ban comic books. In the 1980s people wanted to get video games banned but Ronald Raegan made a speech on television condemning the act of banning video games. Unfortunately, these people who attempt to get video games banned, only served to increase the sales of those video games in question because of the contraversy around it. People become more and more interested in it as they hear more and in turn increases the sales of the games. Video games like Grand Theft Auto only sell more because people make a fuss out of it. In fact, Grand Theft Auto largely remained in the background until Grand Theft Auto 3 was released and banned in several countries. As a result people wanted to know why it was being banned to sell more. Well if you're a fan of video games you'll probably hate Jack Thompson.
More recent figures who took a stand against video games were Eliot Spitzer and Jack Thompson. If you haven't been keeping up with the news, Eliot Spitzer is the New York Governor who resigne |
