Karma System discussion
Category: 9Dragons Game: 9Dragons(US) Posted on Apr 28, 2008 12:31 am
Karma System seems to be a hot topic these days.If you don't know to much about it,read this Guide of Karma before.
This is guinader's Better Good Karma System prompt.
Moderators: I know I posted in suggestion, but I was trying to get more public attention and see if more people agree, that there should be a improvement in karma system. (Not just trading).
I humbly request this thread stays in General Discussion.
Well this is not a suggestions per say. but a wish for improvement in this area.
well yes it is harder to get Good karma, but there should be a way for those who are looking to always be a GK person.
1) some Item mall that will remove the BK from your Character (200 coins = -100bk, or -1000bk, or -500bk)
2) earn more GK on the mobs system (not just 1 per 50 - 100 mobs) (maybe 1 per 25 - 50 mobs)
3) I like new quests gave me 80gk (more GK quests, ALSO making option to get BK instead) (like bloody flowers quest)
4) BK also should have other ways to earn it instead of just on PvP basis.
Well I'll try thinking of other ways.
Edit: after calculating here is what I got.
to get 1000gk on trades alone you need to win 33 fight but you will also gain 165 bk (giving you the Bad karma tittle)
and depending on your level (level 20 = you lose 2gk for every 2bk so you need to lose 65 GK in the process (and thats for level 20) (so you will still need to do quite a feel more trades to get the 1000gk with less then 100bk)
now here is the following still keeping in mind that just reaching the GK number will not grant you the tittle since you multiply the number of fight per 5 and you will get the amount of BK you will have.
GK tittles____Minimum Wins.____________BK accumulated_______BK titles_______BK needed to lose to get GK tittle
1k____________33__________________________165____________100__________ 65
10k__________333_________________________1665____________1000_________ 665
20k__________666_________________________3330____________2000_________ 1330
40k_________1333_________________________6665____________ 4000_________2665
70k_________2333________________________11,665_____________7000________4665
100k________3333________________________16,665____________10,000________6665
150k________5000________________________25,000____________15,000_________10,000
200k________6666________________________33,330____________20,000_________13,330
500k_______16,666________________________83,330_____________50,000________33,330
1kk________33,333_______________________166,665____________100,000________66,665
Now depending on your level, you will lose at least the 1 GK, but we all know that no matter who you are you are not going to dedicate 2 years of your life just to keep trading GK at level None or level 10. so the most bearable level would let you lose 3 or 4 GK (level 48 = RC12)
if you lose 4gk for every 2bk, that means that you will be losing 2x the amount of GK that you lose bk
Lets use Karma tittle level 7 since it is a round number. after you performed 5000 fights you will get 150k GK but at the same time you will have received 25k bk. (20k BK is already level 8 of BK tittle) so you need to lose at least 10k BK to bring down your Black Karma enough for the good tittle to show. Losing 10k bk will make you lose 20k GK and now you are down to 130k GK and you are no where near getting level 7 GK title. You will basically have to do 666 fights to get 20k GK again.
Edit2: Few other ideas
5)Gain 50GK instead of only 30gk per trade (since we lose 50gk for killing same side)
6) Lose 4bk per death not just 2bk (maybe more)
7)Only gain 1BK or 2bk per trade (when opposing clan) (not 5bk)
Edit3:
Since GK is much harder to get, why not make the Good Karma plates better (in a way that makes them desirable to have it) right now only Destiny's hand is a desirable plate, but for Bad Karma almost all of the plates give something really good.
People: Post your comments or other suggestions and reasonable ideas that can be added or improved in the game Karma. and No complain that the Karma system is bad... (lets keep it clean.)
This is margeman2k3's Fixing the Karma Trade Exploit suggestion. he called it a exploit, lol.
With all of the Good Karma thread that are circulating now, I have begun thinking about problems with the karma system as a whole.
Needless to say, the biggest problem is the karma trading exploit, a very common practice that is not considered an exploit.
What is this exploit, some people may ask. Simply, the mechanism works like this:
Character A kills character B.
A gets GK and BK, B loses GK and BK.
B respawns and kills A.
B gets GK and BK, A loses GK and BK.
The reason this works is because you get more karma than you lose, so you end up gaining karma.
Now, the question to ask is, why is this an exploit?
In the Acclaim Rules of Conduct we have this:
When you look at this, you can immediately classify karma trading as "a game weakness".
You could choose to argue that this is not really an exploit, and that it is simply a way to make getting karma easier.
Unfortunately, there is a precedent for things that are used to make the game a bit easier, namely the nuker spots.
For those who don't know, these are areas where monsters cannot go because they think there is a wall there, when really, there is not.
And how did Acclaim deal with these nuker spots?
By making it so that you cannot exploit them any more.
Accordingly, they should do the same thing to karma trading.
So how do you fix it?
The solution is remarkably simple.
Currently, you can only get karma from someone once in a given period.
To prevent this from being exploited, make it so that a pair of characters can only affect each other's karma once in the same period.
It would work like this:
A kills B; A gets karma.
B kills A; B gets no karma.
My solution is not perfect, but it is far better than the system we currently use.
Other ideas:
* Make the karma gained equal to the karma lost, thus making trades obsolete.
* Have B get the standard amount of karma, but have A lose extra karma if B kills him within a certain time frame.
I will admit this though: I never expected such an explosive response to this post.
It shows that when people care about something ingame, they really care.
STOP TELLING ME TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THINGS LIKE THE EXP RATE AND OTHER BUGS!
