Discrimination.. anyone??

Category: My diary Game: Default Posted on Nov 03, 2009 7:33 pm

I've been lurking around in different forums and sites. All with the same interest that I have, either animes, mangas, j-pop/j-rock, FOODS, toys and games; as long as I can see these requirements I'll surely be lurking on those sites.

But all have a common problem that we all know it sucks. Yes, you know what I'm talking about..

DISCRIMINATION

There are different kinds of discrimination, either position, talent, race, the list never ends. It's either they are amused to disgrace others or they think they are superior has no difference. It is still a sin to think lowly of others! As we may speak, discrimination is also done in games, especially now that MMO games been invented; we can discuss things to others easily and spread the news in a speed of light.

Let us apply these reasons and wonders why people who always experiences discrimination would prefer just living in a gaming world. I have gathered some survey and interviews that are pretty interesting to read and debate with. Time to organize th
em one by one!

“I am fat with an ordinary face and people teases me “pig” everyday in my daily life, so don’t tell me I don’t have life just because I only communicate through online games. Not only I can have friends, I can create my ideal character that I want.”

Answer of a 14 y/o child who gets bully by her classmates because of her appearance. We can’t blame her parents who raised her and left her in the kitchen since childhood. Since we all know most parents intend to have chubby children because
they think they are healthy. But because of her surroundings, she was raise to have no self esteem at all. Labeling a person is a hobby of children who wants to make fun of someone, but we don’t realize we just hurt the feelings of that person. Whether you like it or not it is your responsible why that person has low self esteem. Not all children have guts but don’t be the reason why another pessimistic person was born and created on this world.

As for the child who answered this, yes you can create an
ideal character you want to be. But you must wake up to the fact that it’s only a 3D character on the screen. Sooner and later you have to step outside your house and face other people to live on your own. For crying out loud, people matures too you know.

“I am not allowed to go in some places because I’m different than them. My surrounding is disgusted in our family because we are just immigrants. Throwing garbage at me is what my neighbors at my age do. But I am happy because of online gaming I can still contact and play with my friends at my country.”

A 16 y/o boy answered this because of his problem to his new environment. Race discrimination is a never ending problem that is still being practiced by other countries (I won’t name those countries) up until now. Even though we live in a new era, some still closes their doors to those who they think are different from them. The bad side of this is if you are one of these people then don’t ever leave your country or you may experience discrimination yourself.

Regarding the comment of the boy, the good side is he can still contact his friends in his own country and play with them (Thanks to MMO). This is a good feed back to MMOs, really.

“I was eating in a restaurant when I saw that the TV is showing D********* anime series. I was happy because some of those panels are done by me. I told my friends with great smile that I draw those panels. They just laughed at me saying only Japanese people can draw them.”

A 28 y/o man got disappointed after hearing this to his co races. How come they don’t believe their own race? People with different believes tend to not understand each other even if you both live in the same country. Also, not believing the skills of your own country leads to a negative effect like the man example above. After a few days he was interviewed by the media because he IS one of the people who are behind the anime DB. We all believed that Japanese people only draw and makes the animes, but really have it ever crossed to your minds that hiring others is also possible? Applying it in games, MMO companies also hires other people living in different countries to obtain ideas that can’t be made unless having an opinion to others. It’s good to hear both sides right?

Regarding the man who got disappointed he is still working there as an animator. But he really felt sad knowing that he won’t be acknowledged by his co races up until now due to discrimination.

Discriminating people is really bad. If they think they are wrong, they will find ways to show in public your wrong side just to prove they have better thinking than others.

If I say Filipinos made the animation O******* most debate that I can encounter is co-Filipinos will not mind what they just read or they will look for something negative like; “Now I know why it sucks..”

If I say China is managing the game ********* would you still believe it??

Too bad this method still exists up until now.

DONT DO TO OTHERS WHAT OTHERS CAN DO TO YOU..

P.S.
-All notes are real and not invented. Whether you like it or not, these are based on research, studies and surveys by real people living in this earth so don’t be a bias and just support them d*mmit.

nice article. I know how it feels because i'm treated like an outcast at home myself. i rebell agianst my family all the time. they want me to go into medicine like everyone one else in the family, i'm in computer programming & analyst. they refuse to let me join sport clubs yet my sibling are able to, they throw all my weight training equipments in the back yard to rust when i prefer it to be in my room, they want me to be thin like everyone else in the family but i'm fat since i stop working out and playing sports because of some dispute. i have no privacy, litterally. i get kick out of my own room, the restroom all the time. it gotten even worse when i went behind their backs to get glasses when i have needed them for over 5 years ago which brings me to my next point, i don't get good grades as my other siblings because of it, so they blame it on my friends >_> they call me an accident and bring nothing but shame to the family.

i can keep going on if i wanted it, but you don't need to know my whole life.

Forcing a family tradition job is a common problem to those family who survived the game called "life" thanks to the on-going tradition. So not just you but lots of people suffers from it.. D:

This is an interesting topic, and i also have something to say about it too tho its possible that if i do ill be the target of many a counter comment.  Of course if thats the case then it just goes to show that alot of people are hypocrites.

I am a firm beliver of the saying everybody is entitled to their own oppinion i also belive that forcing your belifs and such on another is deplorable BUT i am personally COMPLETELY against the over sensitive actions taken by people who belive that another isnt being politically correct.

Vigil25 your comments are good natured and quite right but also close minded.  to tell people who have their own opinions to just shut up and be quiet is just as bad as what the others do in a sense your discriminating aganst those who want a voice.  even if the only things somone has to say are bad i say let them say it, and if you dont agree with them thats fine dont let what they say affect you.  If you still feel stongly about what theyve said why not start a simple discussion and try to understand why they say what they said.  "Will discrimination end?" the answer isnt as simple as one might think.  dont you think it takes 2 parties for discrimination to actually take place, for example one person says something like refers to another person as lets say the the word "N*****" in some cases this would be considered discrimination.  now take the same situation but the other party is the guys friend ....do you see the lack of discrimination now.  putting it into simple words, discrimination is only present when people take insult to the words said even when theyre not ment as an insult.  of course when they are ment as an insult if the ofendded doesnt take insult the comments become nothing more than pointless hot air.

i have been on the reciving end of said discrimination as i am of mixed race, did i let it get to me? maybe i did way bac

alotta the comments on here make you think...I agree that humans are flawed cuz we keep effing things up :/ the only species that kills our habitat and pees in our water. As far as I know animals don't discriminate an animal is gonna go starving cuz their prey doesn't look like all the others ones or it came from a certain place...

Demons are beings filled with hate. Discrimination is an act of hate. No matter how much you whine and complain about it, discrimination will never go away. The only way to rid the world of discrimination is to rid it of the demon race we call "Humans".

Okay first off somebody ban michalchan if he/she haven't already been please?

Secondly, completely agree with this article from the deepest of my heart, but then a more crude form of saying "Humans are flawed" is just racists are nut crackers who are at best described unreasonable and uneducated, but then, that's been too nice to them, just call them morons.

Hang on ... if I'm being racist towards racists, aren't I a racist now? ...... *faints from brain exaustion*

i think i would have done the same thing on the anime bit though, although if he had persisted i would have eventually believed him with proof...but i would have done the same thing if a japanese person said that to me too...

must also point out (not in a negative way, but just as a general statement) that the stereotypes that make up discriminations do exist for a reason and, if you apply it to life, you'll get it right 80% of the time or so. (seriously, how many non-japanese animators are there compared with the japanese population?)

Humans are flawed. This is why I do not believe in reincarnation. The reason? Wouldn't the world have gotten better after realising all the mistakes we made in past were only hurting our future? Would we not have learnt from our mistakes eventually? - Apparently not. :)
Humans can be the cure, but choose only to be the poison. Fickle, foul-mouthed and unwavering in their steadfast pursuit of pleasing only themselves and stepping all over one another in order to reach that pinnacle of fleeting happiness. But is it true happiness?
In the end, we will consume ourselves.

Will discrimination end? I think that It's a disease that doesn't have a cure. It's been here for the longest time and will continue to linger for eons to come. The moral lesson would be if you do not have anything good to say might as well shut up and keep your opinions to yourself because you might end up hurting people with your strong, conceited, arrogant blabber. People may consider themselves just opinionated or frank but doing so in a tactless manner is unacceptable and can be considered as slander. It is deppressing to say that we have to live with this thorn at our side as we go on with life, so let us not forget that though each is an individual, everybody are created equal capable of doing great and magnicifent things just like you.
