World of Warcraft - Preparation of the Lich King
Category: Article Game: World of Warcraft Posted on Oct 18, 2008 6:50 am

**WARNING** This article contains information regarding World of Warcraft (WoW) – a game that since birth has attracted the worst of Internet Trolls, and continues to do so today. For the benefit of our eyes (and intelligence) please, do not read this article, or post comment below if you do not take interest in WoW.
With the release of the much-awaited expansion Wrath of the Lich King looming closer with each passing day, World of Warcraft is once again filled with a very familiar buzz – one that many of us have experienced before. It is the buzz of anticipation, the buzz of adventure, and of 12 Million people making ready for the next WoW expansion.
To make things even more hysterical, Blizzard have recently released their latest content patch (3.0.2) – adding numerous new additions to the game, the most noticeable and time-consuming being the achievement system. The achievement system rewards player's points for completing various tasks, the likes of completing a certain number of quests, exploring every corner of every zone, killing players of the opposing faction and hugging them afterwards, and killing the final boss in every instance.
Experiencing this menacing process myself, I thought it useful to make a note of the many things I would like to complete before my move to the cold, wastelands of Northrend, and being the nice guy that I am – share it with you. So below you'll find the list of things I'd like to have completed and collected before November the 13th, when the much-awaited Wrath of the Lich King finally arrives.

Achievements
However happy these achievements may have made me, having them dumped right in the middle of my lap while trying to ready for Lich King has put my rush to be ready into full steam ahead. I will mainly be trying to complete as many of these as possible from the Azeroth pool – such as exploring every zone, killing every boss, and dominating the Battlegrounds. There looks to be hundreds in Northrend alone and I highly doubt that I will want to leave Northrend for a long time once I arrive.
Reputation
With Naxx being moved to Northrend and the chances of me returning to Outland hovering somewhere between slim and none, I've decided to grind as much rep as possible in both The Argent Dawn and the remaining factions in Outland. The Argent Dawn is the most important for me, as I feel there is a large part for them to play in Northrend – and with The Argent Crusade being added as a new faction I'm hoping the two will be somehow linked.
Battlegrounds
There are 3 things that will be carried over from Burning Crusade to Lich King – they are Gear, Gold and Honor. If Honor is to be carried over into Lich King, and can then be spent on new equipment, then I intend to be bringing as much of it with me as possible to make the Northrend an easier place to survive. This means that it's time to grind the BG's again – as much as I don't like it I'm sure the hard work will pay off, it always does.

Badges of Justice
It has been confirmed that Badges of Justice will not be used in the coming expansion, so it's time to spend those bad boys, and quick! I'll be farming up as many as possible over the coming weeks, and hopefully netting myself a new dagger at the end of it!
Gold
With Mongoose enchantments, Netherdrakes and Gems my thousands of gold have diminished much faster than I had hoped – and with almost everything in WoW connecting somehow to gold it would be wise to have some behind me before the expansion arrives. The next section – the Auction House, should help this largely.
Auction House
If Lich King is to be anything like Burning Crusade, then it won't take long for all of your precious items, gems, and materials to be worth nothing once the patch is released. So what better time than now to sell everything you've been saving, and take the profit forward into the expansion.
Professions
I've always tried to stay on top of my professions, but Fishing and Cooking have eluded me from day one. The next few weeks is the perfect time to catch up on them, to make sure I can take full advantage of everything Lich King has to offer.
Death Knight
I can't wait to make my Death Knight, and I want to get him to Northrend as fast as possible. I'm guessing that most other players will be looking to do the same – thus green and blue equipment is likely to skyrocket in price. I'm going to buy all mine up now while they're cheap – and save myself a heap of cash.

So there you have it, a years worth of content to pursue and 3 weeks to pursue it. I'm not suggesting that you should be doing this too, but if nothing else then this article has shown you that there certainly are things to do, and it should be a lot of fun doing them. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some WoW to play!
