Secret of the Solstice:My ReviewCategory: Default Posted on Jun 18, 2009 Add to Bookmark |

A lot of MMO's are accused of being clones or rip offs of more successful games. Secret of the Sostice,SoS, has been condemed to the same title. Upon looking at screen shots,Ragnarok Online will immedietely come to mind. I decided to give it try and see if the negative speculations were just. Similarities: art style, craftable costume pieces, and the healers name's are alcolytes. I played this game all day and truthfully, those are the only similarities. Alcolyte's aren't an RO specific name and other games have included different ways of obtaining costume items.(Holic) Therefore, the only real similarity is art style. It's nothing worth fussing about, and doesn't make it a rip off. I have even read on MMO site that the extensive job tree was a rip off RO. This is laughable to me, as I think it's a feature everyone wants in games anyway. One or two advanced job changes are boring, and a few other MMOs have satisfied this demand. Once again, not an RO rip off. So let's begin to highlight all the features I've taken a liking to in this game. A decent number of quests are present in at least the earlier leve |

Iris Online: Pictures!Category: Default Posted on Oct 01, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Okay so Iris Online is on my list of games I want to play. mmosite has a small, vague section for the game up...but I was rather disapointed at the lack of screenshots. So I went onto the official site to snag some screens so you can see what the characters and interface looks like. So here you are!
It doesn't look as good as I expected, but it doesn't look bad either. So I'm still hopeful. |

Fantasy MMOs: Doomed to repetition?Category: Default Posted on Sep 30, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Fantasy MMORPGs appeal to me more than any other type of game. Why? It's as far away from reality as I can get. Well, books are good as well, but they're not a visual experience and your not playing an active part. RPGs are books that you play, you actively engage in the story according to your own liking. Such as choosing race, class, and your choice of what you want to accomplish. Lately, however, I've found myself getting more and more bored. Nothing quite grabs my attention anymore! Fantasy MMOs all have too similar of elements. Where's the innovation? Newer games usually only boast one or a few unique features, but while still retaining to same elements as other games. For example, the classes. You have a fighter, tank, archer, mage, and cleric as your basic set of classes. There are, of course, other classes...but they conform under the same categories. We need newer, more interesting classes. I personally think a puppeteer class would be amazing. Maybe you can think of even more unique, crazy classes.I also honestly hope some game developing company steals my idea. Please, I don't even care if you give me credit, I' |

A name rant!Category: Default Posted on Sep 30, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

Lately I've been getting pretty annoyed at the young gamers. I absolutely despise their choice of names! It is my idea that names should suit the game you're playing. It is,after all, a role playing game. You pick a name for your charcater that accomodates the world he/she lives in and maybe even their race...as elves tend to have pretty fancy and elegant names. I'm tired of seeing names like "n00bpwner" or names with a series of numbers at the end, such as the oh so popular "666". |

Legend of Golden Plume: My ReviewCategory: Default Posted on Aug 25, 2008 Add to Bookmark |

A lot of games get critically judged (often unfairly) based upon a short video or a couple of screen shots. At first glimpse of Legend of Golden Plume,LGP, one might easily just brush it off as another "kiddie" game and never give it a seconed thought. Now, Since I'd never ever say I'm too old to be playing something, I downloaded this game. I didn't care if it would be swamped with ten years olds,I have no shame. So here's a review! Keep in mind,LPG is in it's infancy. So I didn't ever plan on judging it harshly, as more things will probably be implemented somewhere past beta. However, even for a newer game, I saw some real potential! Now if you're expecting an escape from a grind-fest...you're not going to find it here. All you F2P gamers should just accept that. Me,I like grinding. Theres plenty of new grind related features in this game this makes it a bit more interesting. You're not just going collecting items from monsters, even if this game sure does include PLENTY of that. There's a guard general who will assign you a task of hunting down a thief,in return you get a treasure map |
