What is a City of heroes(CoH) base?
Is it something to hang around in with all your friends and teammates or does it have something more to it? How does a group develop a City of heroes(CoH) base? What do I need to know about having a base? How can I get stuff for it once its been created?
Many of these questions have been asked and few have actually gotten answers to them. What this City of heroes(CoH) base guide will offer is the basics of building a base, what some of the functions of having a base can offer and how you can develop the materials to make that City of heroes(CoH) base worthwhile. The information contained in this guide is subject to the Developers' changes in-game, but should provide an accurate source to get you started.
What is a City of heroes(CoH) Super Group/Villain Group base?
A base is a series of interconnected rooms where your group can call home when not doing missions. It can also help provide a source of missions, as in the case of the Villains Mission Computer, which provides a Task Force and a Trial. It can also replace the hospital, should you develop it right. Not only that, with the proper items, you can find yourself being able to travel in any Hazard zone or Isle, as well as allow group to participate in Raids. All these are possible with the right materials.
To get started on your City of heroes(CoH) base, you must first have a Super Group or a Villain Group, or as they will called from here out, SG/VG. Once you have talked to the appropriate contact, talk to that contact again to garner the proper permit to start building a base. To enter the base, find the nearest Base Portal and click upon it.
Which Base Plot should I choose?
Now we come to the first decision any base builder will encounter: the size of the City of heroes(CoH) base. All Groups start out with the Tiny Hidden Spot, which is a small 8' x 8' plot. The decision comes from whether or not to increase the size of the base. The next decision is whether or not to build the base as a Hidden Plot or as a Secure Plot. The difference between the two is the increased cost of Prestige between the two types of Plots as well as the option for additional defenses for a cost for Secure Plots.
These Plots can range from the standard 8' x 8' to the gargantuan 24' x 28' and the list to find out about the cost differences between the plots, a list of Base Plots can be found in the Base Lots database
