What kinds of Rooms are available?

Once you've decided on what type of
City of heroes(CoH)  base you want and what size of the base itself, the next is to develop the base by creating rooms that will be beneficial to your SG/VG. The following is the list of available types of rooms:

-Energy
-Control
-Defensive
-Workshop
-Infirmary
-Transportation
-Vault
-Decorative

Each of these rooms has a specific function in the
City of heroes(CoH)  base. Energy rooms will create the power it takes to run the computers, the med.-labs, the workshop and other items found in your base. Control rooms work hand-in-hand with Energy rooms, as they provide the proper means of controlling all that energy running in your base. Defensive rooms provide protection for your City of heroes(CoH)  base should it ever come under a Raid. Workshops contain worktables, which you can convert those multiple Salvage pieces into materials, which then can be used to create items for your base. Infirmaries help in the same capacity as hospitals, only in smaller ways until you develop them more. Transportation rooms help transporting SG/VG teammates into Raids as well as any zone your SG/VG has a beacon for. Vaults contain those precious Items of Power, which can help increase Accuracy, Damage or a number of other attributes for the SG/VG. Decorative rooms are just that, decorative. They have no other function.

Each type of room has a number of sizes and
City of heroes(CoH) prices that can be found in our Base Rooms database.

Can you go into more detail about each type of room?

Energy rooms can contain a number of generators in each of them depending on what size of room you choose. For instance, an Energy Terminal room will allow only 1 generator whereas a Secure Generator Core can allow up to 2 generators. Each allows an unlimited amount of auxiliaries but the number of defenses allowed in each room varies. Only the Secure Energy rooms allow an unlimited number of defense auxiliaries.

Control rooms are much the same way. A 2' x 2' Control Room allows only 1 control item whereas the 5' x 7' Command Center allows up to 2. The number of control auxiliaries depends on which room you choose and range from 4 auxiliary items up to 35. Control rooms can also allow SG/VG to have batteries in their base, depending on the room choice. The aforementioned Control Room does not allow any batteries to be placed whereas the Command Center allows an unlimited amount of batteries. Only the 4 listed Control Rooms do not allow an unlimited amount of Defense auxiliaries.

Defensive rooms provide the base with added protection and defenses in the means of rays, turrets, and other items built by the SG/VG as well as Shields, targeting modules and such. A 1' x 1' Choke Point room can allow up to 1 battery, 2 defenses, an unlimited amount of defense auxiliaries but no control items. A 3' x 3' Death Trap, though, can allow up to 1 battery, 16 defense items, an unlimited amount of defense auxiliary items and 1 control item.

Workshops can and will be one of the SG/VG's most active rooms. In these rooms, up to 3 worktables can be placed to be used for converting your salvage into materials to be used for constructing items. Depending on which types of worktables are placed in the room, any number of items can be created. The only differences in the two types of Workshops are the number of worktables allowed in either and the number of batteries allowed in each. The lists of the types of salvage, materials and items can be found in our Base Salvage, Base Materials, and Base Items databases.

The Infirmary Rooms are used whenever a SG/VG teammate does not want to use the hospital. The two types of rooms, Infirmary and Trauma Center, allow up to 12 medical items, up to 1 battery and both offer an unlimited amount of medical auxiliary items.

Transportation rooms allow the SG/VG to travel to any zone they have established a beacon for. They can also be used to lead a team to Raid another SG/VG base for their Item of Power, but only when both SG/VGs are Raid capable. A 2' x 2' teleport Chamber allows 1 battery, 2 teleport items, an unlimited amount of teleport Beacons, but does not allow any defensive items nor defensive auxiliary items. However, a 5' x 5' Secure Portal Room can allow up to 2 batteries, 8 teleport Items, an unlimited amount of teleport Beacons, up to 4 Defensive items and an unlimited amount of defensive auxiliary items.

Vaults are used to store Items of Power that the SG/VG may gain through a Trial or through a Raid. A 2' x 2' Containment Alcove will allow 1 Item of Power but will not allow any batteries, defenses or defensive auxiliary items. A 5' x 5' Secure Dual Vault will allow 1 battery, up to 2 Items of Power, up to 8 Defenses and an unlimited amount of defensive auxiliary items.

Decorative rooms, unlike the other rooms, have no real purpose other than a gathering spot for SG/VG members. None of these rooms allow any defenses, energy items, control items or anything of that nature. However, SG/VGs can decorate these rooms to be used for any number of things. They can be decorated as a library, an office, or even used for a member of the SG/VG as a personal room.

What does it mean to be "Raid-capable"?

To be able to gain an
City of heroes(CoH) Item of Power, you must have at least a mission computer, a Raid Teleporter, a place to put an Item of Power (which means at least 1 Vault room), and 6 Dimensional Anchors placed in your City of heroes(CoH)  base. Once you have all of these items in place, there is a SG/VG Trial that will allow you to capture an Item of Power, which will be furthermore stored in your base.

Once this has been accomplished, your SG/VG base will be "flagged for PvP" which means that anyone can now schedule to Raid your
City of heroes(CoH) base.

What else is there?

Fortunately, the developers are continually coming up with new ideas to make
City of heroes(CoH) bases more interesting. For now, you have the basic idea of how to develop your base. Keep in mind that the cost of many of the Plots, City of heroes(CoH) Rooms and Items can be overwhelming, so try to build a base within your SG/VG means. That means that smaller SG/VGs will usually have smaller bases while larger SG/VGs can afford to build bigger bases.

As more Issues arrive, more substance will be added for base building. With this
City of heroes(CoH)  guide, you now have a basic understanding of what types of Plots are available, what kinds of rooms you can build, and what kinds of Salvage, Materials and Items are available for you and your teammates to create. Have fun creating a new and unique City of heroes(CoH) base for you and your teammates in your SG/VG
