Whats up with Korea? Is it culture?

Category: Default Game: 4Story Posted on Aug 23, 2009 2:49 pm

As I seen so far, the community for this site like anime/asian korean made games. I can tell that by the usall "WoW or Runes of magic sucks comments and the high anticipation for Asian made games. But ironically eat almost what ever crap they get from korea.

Well to me Korean games are good not gonna lie about that but its a mix bag. some times you get great games but sometimes you don't. My opinion Western made games are just as good but dont get publicized as korean mmo's.

I was thinking this about this then I realized that its a cultural diffrence.

What do you think?

the industry of MMOs in Korea has the support of the government. To me Korea is just a MMO factory, most of their products may look awesome, but taste boring...

Ya its pretty much a cultural preference. In Korea mmorpgs are hot hot hot. Whereas in the western world its not that big (unless WOW is involved) so you will obviously see less western mmos.

Most western gamers are considered "casual gamers". You need to constantly dish out content to keep them satisfied because even a short time of stalling between content can ruin an mmo. Most western mmos have gone down in subscriptions and some already died (tabula rasa died and AOC is like loosing a subscription per min. I have no clue what happened to the Witcher).

In Korea the average mmo gamer plays 1-3 mmos and there is a bigger mmo fan base. There is a big market to be won there. We see more korean mmos on this site because of supply and demand. That is just my opinion.
