Another nice read on gameriot.com, written by elf_fu

Here are ten excellent ways to seem like a douche bag in any game, whether you’re playing an MMORPG or anything else that requires you to mingle with your fellow humans.

1.) You help further any of the many gamer stereo types.

I just want to take this moment to personally thank all the guys playing females, or females playing females who are standing about some town right now, stripping off all their gear and begging for gold plz. Thanks guys, you make me feel warm and tingly inside--op, maybe I just have to pee.

2.) You sign up for the two week trial just to dis the game and advertise for another one.

Listen, douche bag, you’ve just been granted two weeks of free play. If you don’t like the game don’t play it. Flopping about the beginner town and lamenting over how this game sucks compared to yours doesn’t convince people to “come to the light.” It won’t inspire a mass exodus from this game to yours; in fact, most people will take a five second note of your behavior and think, “Wow. They behave like this, here; I can’t imagine what it’s like there.”

You aren&rs

Article found on Hellforge by Sol Invictus

I stumbled upon these ads on an image hosting service earlier today and the following visuals are visceral depictions of children in relation to video game violence. The images reference a website that no longer appears to be online so I can only guess as to the actual content of the site.

Needless to say, these photo-manipulations strongly portray video games as a bad influence on children, with captions like "He just shot someone in the head" and "Don't train your child to kill", as if violent video games somehow teach us to commit murder in addition to their debatable effects of desensitization.

Whatever your views are on the matter, I just thought I'd share these startling images with the rest of you.

Yeah, because only children play video games. Right, boys and girls?

I am totally appalled by the last image ad they used. Video games don't make me kill, but the dumbass who made these ads really make me want to kill

Galeria Kaufhof, the German retailer finally makes a decision to pull off violent movies and games from their shelves, which means you will no longer buy any violent stuff (especially violent games with an 18-plus rating) in their stores starting next month. it is just because of last week's tragic shooting rampage in Germany that left fifteen dead.

quote:

"I think (Kaufhof's decision) is a complete overreaction ... it borders on impulsive hysteria," said Stephan Reichart, managing director at German video game developers association G.A.M.E. "It would be sufficient if retailers made sure their cashiers don't sell this material to young people."

I have no faith in banning violent video games could reduce teen crime, there is an old saying in my country: Curiosity kills cat. Banning is the best way to force teenagers eager getting something they are not allowed, especially mature content.

To an extent I can understand the reactions from the less-game savvy German people. A terribly tragedy like this needs explaining, and violent video games are an easy way to explain away the behavior of this disturbed young man. I just fear that by grabbing at the easie

Maybe you have already known the early breaking news in yesterday and it was a disaster for Germany, a 17-year-old teen named Tim Kretschmer carried a gun and bursted in a school, after killing 16 people he ended his own life. And again, his attempts have already been conneted with gaming, the popular first person shooting game, Counter-Strike

The Associated Press report on the shootings - which will be the same one run in countless newspapers/websites across the world - sadly tries to slip in a link between Kretschmer's playing of Counter-Strike and the murders.

"A 17-year-old who would give only his first name, Aki, said he had been studying this year with the shooter at a private business school, and described him as a quiet, reserved person.

Aki said the two played poker together, both in person and online, as well as a multiplayer video game called "Counter-Strike" that involves killing people to complete missions.

"He was good," Aki said."

I just wonder why almost every teen crime will be finally linked with gaming, Yes in this tragedy the AP didn't mean Counter Strike is exactly the reason that cause Tim to kill,

Haha, okay this article is very hilarious. Thanks Rubio for his nice read, here are some quotes from his article:

Just picture yourself thinking of having sex for the first time, EXCITING right. Then you hear your buddies talking about it then you get all curious and want to try it. So you go out into the world and find that special someone or in many cases it just happens. Then you actually have sex, and it’s fantastic. Once you tried it, you start to run around like a bunny on Red Bull, looking for it every chance you get. Sooner or later, though, almost everyone reaches the point where just sex isn’t enough. You start fantasizing about trying different things, whether it be trying new things or trying new thing with new people. You ask yourself why?

Because sex is additive. Sooner or later, no matter how much fun it is, the “same old thing” gets old and tiring, and you look for something to spice it up a bit in an attempt to recapture that exciting feeling you got when you first tried it.

Which leads us to MMORPGs. When you first encounter the game, it’s all exciting. You’ve never experienced anything like it. Your friends are right this is

Li Xiaofei, an average Chinese gamer, who was reported two years ago successfully getting rid of the addiction in World of Warcraft, recently had reported a case to the local police. He charged the WeiSu Youth Center (known as internet addiction center) for imprisoning him illegally for 36 days.

Because of being addicted in his favorite online game World of Warcraft, Li Xiaofei was forced to WeiSu Youth Center by his worried parents in the December of 2007, it spent him one month and five days there, accepting so called "treatment"

"I was sent to the base by my parents, they thought I had the internet addiction, especially the game addiction, but I don't think I had such problems they diagnosed." Li Xiaofei said, "and they don't know what happened to me there, I think I was imprisoned" According to his statements, the base restricted Li Xiaofei's personal freedom, rejected his every possible request to contact his relationships outside, and he also had to take medicines which were only for psychotics.

"If I refused orders, they beat me, and I had been wounded twice there." he added, "I be
