The debate over graphic Japanese sex games such as the disgusting and controversial RapeLay continues with word that the United Nations is stepping in.

At a meeting earlier this month, the U.N.'s Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women called for a ban on explicit video games and anime. As reported by Anime News Network, the committee urged Japan to ban "the sale of video games or cartoons involving rape and sexual violence against women which normalize and promote sexual violence against women and girls."

The committee also expressed concern "at the normalization of sexual violence in the State party as reflected by the prevalence of pornographic video games and cartoons featuring rape, gang rape, stalking and the sexual molestation of woman and girls."

Within months we have heard a lot of news about Real Gundam. Here we've got a Gundam wedding ceremony. Let's check it out.

Heres comes the bride. And the giant mecha.

Earlier this week, Japanese wedding planner T&G planned wedding ceremony for one lucky couple, selected from 548 entries last month.

The two were married previously and stated that the Gundam series had been a tremendous influence in their lives. They even named they're new baby girl after Gundam character Seira. The groom is even dressed as Ray Amuro!

The Director of the Gundam also put in an appearance to give the happy couple a special gift.

A 18-meter-tall (59-foot-tall) RX-78 was erected to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the mecha anime/manga/toy/video game franchise.

It is part of the "Mobile Suit Gundam 30th Anniversary Project," and the temporary structure in Odaiba's Shiokaze Park was built from fiberglass-reinforced plastic over a steel frame and coated in a layer of awesomeness

Fifty points on the Gundam statue emit light, and mist shoot out of 14 different points on the statue. The 1/1 scale Gundam boasts a movable head and a continuous stream of oh-man-this-is-so-damn-cool. [kotaku

When I was reading a news from Gamepolitics that "A 17 year old student detonated two pipe bombs in a San Mateo, California high school on Monday before being subdued by faculty members", I just though of Zoey, the only and last beautiful thing over the whole disgusting zombie apocalypse of Left 4 Dead. As the picture I captured shows, she is throwing a pipe bomb.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the boy was wearing a bulletproof vest and was armed with an additional eight pipe bombs, a two-foot long sword and a chainsaw. Police said that the student planned to set off the bombs and then attack survivors with the other weapons.

Gadget blog Gizmodo wonders whether there may have been a video game connection:

If you're wondering why this is on Gizmodo—and you guys always do—it's because those weapons inherently remind me of movie and video game weapons. I'm not trying to say that video games cause violence or don't cause violence, but what I'm saying is that when a 17 year old man-child thinks he can corner his classmates while dual wielding a chainsaw and a sword probably played a lot of doom and zelda and didn't do very well in gym c

If a man falls in love with a 2D character, it should be like customizing a pillow of her, and taking the pillow wherever he heads to. So what if dating a 3D virtual character? Here comes today's story I read...recently a Japanese guy, I mean an otaku released a video about himself dating with his virtual girlfriend, which is, absolutely awesome.

This guy created this 3D girl, then used some kind of technology to put the virtual character into the real life backgrounds, from the video you can see that they did have interactions. Some video snapshots as following:

Sorry I don't know how to share videos from nicovideo.jp, and my Japanese sucks, so you may want to check the website to read the news and video yourself. [ Via Nekomeshi ]

We love zombie stuff, so do mathematicians...I guess.

A team of mathematicians from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa Canada have created a series of mathematical models to explore the effects of a zombie outbreak and determine the best course for human survival. For the purpose of the paper, the team limited their models to the George Romero slow-moving zombies, and created separate models for zombie infections that cause the infected to resurrect immediately after contact with a zombie and for zombie infections with a 24-hour incubation period.

Okay it sounds funny, the science is even not sure whether zombies really exist on this planet...maybe consider the "research" as a joke, but don't you think it cost too much, at least a waste of money in current days?

The paper examines three possible methods of dealing with a zombie outbreak: quarantine of the zombies, treatmentof zombies so that they once again become human, and impulsive eradication of the zombies whenever possible. The models found that quarantine could work, but the end result would be either the eradication of all zombies or the eradication of all humans; if a cure fo

Think Before You Speak has been running a campaign to raise awareness about derogatory use of the word "gay". To drive the message home are posters of a jock, a cheerleader and a gamer.

The posters include obviously stereotypical slogans to help drive the issue home - that is the point, you know!

"Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teens experience homophobic remarks and harassment throughout the school day, creating an atmosphere where they feel disrespected, unwanted and unsafe," says the site.

"Homophobic remarks such as "that's so gay" are the most commonly heard; these slurs are often unintentional and a common part of teens' vernacular," the site continues. "Most do not recognize the consequences, but the casual use of this language often carries over into more overt harassment."

It's often easy to blow stuff off like this as simply saying "oh, no biggie, it's just a word", and it's often easier for those who the slurs disrespect to say that. It's not so much the word itself. Words are a collection of sounds and letters. It's the baggage the word carries and the meaning behind it that's the

A young girl brings her boyfriend home to meet the parents, to disastrous results. Yes, it's a tale as old as time, a song as old as rhyme. However, in this case, the girl's parents are the "L33ts," an upper-class and tech-savvy family with a penchant for FiOS and fine gaming. Unleashing a hail of overwhelming DPS, the parents take down the über suitor with verbal sparring that causes insurmountable levels of DoTs. Check out the carnage after the break.

Here comes a sad news over Gundam, maybe you've already know how crazy Japanese otaku go for Gundam stuff, but can you imagine a son burns down mother's house just because she threw away all son's Gundam collection? It surely cross the line.

A man has burnt down his home after his mother threw out his Gundam collection, lamenting “I’ve lost my precious Gundam, I may as well die.”

The man, a 29-year-old factory worker and Gundam collector in Hyogo prefecture, who needless to say lived in his mother’s house, became so distraught at the loss of his collection at the hands of his mother that felt his only recourse was fire.

He doused his room in kerosene and ignited it with a lighter, causing a conflagration which swiftly burnt the two storey wooden house to the ground.
Apparently not quite ready to die along with his Gundam, he fled the house and escaped without injury.

His mother (55), who was in the building as her son burnt it down, also escaped. He explained what happened thus: “My precious Gundam plamo were all thrown out by my mother; I thought I’d die too.” He has been arrested on charges of arson
