Angry Starcraft Player Stabs 15yr Old Girl

Category: Default Game: Default Posted on Oct 13, 2009 1:47 am

An 18  year old went into a fit of rage late on a Saturday night(Aug 9th) after his game of Starcraft was cut short because his internet connection cut out.  The enraged 18 year old proceeded to grab a kitchen knife, walk into the street, and then stab an innocent 15 year old girl passing by on her way home form a party with her friend.  Although she was stabbed multiple times by the crazed 18 year old, none of the injuries were life threatening.

As for the 18 year old, he was going to be convicted of attempted homicide, but instead is being sent for psychiatric care.  Occurrences like this make you wonder what must be running though his mind.  He could have simply waited for the connection to come back, but now because of his irrationality and rage, he probably won’t be playing Starcraft for a long time to come.  I’m sure this will turn out to be another bad notch in the “gaming makes you do bad things” belt.

Yes, It was an old news, we don't know because it was originally from a Swedish site on that day.

Seriously, what the fk are you people talking about? Gaming does NOT make people do anything!... TV, on the other hand, told me to go kill Britney Spear's career (starting about 5 years ago... yes, it was all me), to do insider trading with Martha Stewart (that's how I start killing the economy and got it to THIS point), and to finish the job I started with the rest of the Kennedy family (hint: It was just me and I WAS on the grassy knoll, suckers <.<). Yes, TV made me do all of those things, so TV is definitelty evil... (don't tell it I said that or it will get mad T_T)... but leave gaming the fk alone >.<!

Gaming has nothing to do with your mental state. If you are messed up after gaming you were messed up before hand. People that say, games can make you do bad things, need to be kicked up side the head. I have played games for... 8-9 years on and off, and I have never even hit someone.

These guys make us good gamers out there look like total d!cks. Really, he gets all pissed because his fucking Starcraft connection went out.

What the fuck is this world coming to? You stab somebody with a knife, somebody you just find randomly out on the street, because your STARCRAFT CONNECTION DIED. This guy needs either serious mental help or he needs to get laid. Now.

Poor girl, that guy was seriously sick in the head. People that does not have the capacity to control themselves, specially with just a superficial issue of internet connection, will not last long in this world that we live in.

I'm gonna play the devil's advocate here since you obviously post a lot of things on this topic as if you're some champion of video games =/= violence stimulator.

You've put a lot of evidence of gaming related violence that seems to stem from irrational reasoning from an individual who may not have commited their crime if the previous cause (parent canceling wow account, internet going out, etc.) did not create the effect (of them doing their act of irrational). However let's put this into perspective, if gaming was not involved what would have happened instead? I'll let you think on that one, but I can already guess the answer.

Haven't you seen a news report? Other than politics, It's filled with murder mysteries and such, this LIFE, don't expect there's going to be happy go-along stories about happy MMO players everyday. these horrific incidents happen, and due to its unexpected nature and shocking developments, of course it gets more attention, and of course it's been chosen to be put on the front page.

Now tell me have you actually seen a tabloid/broadsheet newspaper with a story that's NOT controversial on its headlines?

This article is not about a 'nut case gamer'... it is about a 'nut case' who was playing a game. These sorts of unstable retards have access to all the same stuff as actual gamers might have access to, but in this case, the same sort of stimuli can cause reactions far outside the range of a normal individual. A person who can not deal with a game being turned-off is by no means a real 'gamer' in real life. After-all, how can a 'gamer' continue gaming if he/she does not work or do anything else beyond playing games? To maintain a 'gamer' life-style, you have to be a balanced-enough individual to not only produce an income, but know how to act in society so that your games don't get forcefully taken away from you. It all boils down to common sense.

Don't let your lurking parents peeping behind your shoulders see this! If they do they'll sign a massive petition to implement subliminal message into games urge you not to play them, be nicer to everybody, become a eco-activist, fight against violence (oh the irony) and *shudder* do your homework!

Or have the subliminal messaging already begun?!!

I love starcraft too but he went overboard there, and the girl didn't even have anything to do with him, he must have lived a sad life, all his life.
