Perfect World

Welcome to the oriental side of the MMO world, where Chinese-made games outmatch brains and brawn against their Korean and Western predecessors. One of which is Wan Mei (Perfect World Co. Ltd.) and one of their grandest opus, Perfect World. Wan Mei’s masterpiece unfolds in a grandiose way, an MMORPG that offers a touch of everything from intimate social interaction to vengeful yet sweet wars. In its grandiosity, the game tries to attain perfection by taking bits and pieces of ideas from different MMOs and mixing them together in an oriental blend, with a dash of their homemade sweetener. And there you were, just yesterday, assuming that the last Chinese myth-based MMO had just washed its cup off of the tea leaves from its last serving.

Perfect Tea Blend

To sum up the story, the god Pan Gu had a vision of creating a perfect world and its inhabitants able to cultivate the perfect land. Thus, he used his powers to cleanse out the forces of evil and formed the land exactly as he had foreseen. In this land, three dominant races emerged, the humans, winged elves and the beast kind. Pan Gu gave these three races the great responsibility of cultivating and caring for

October 19, 2008 (GMT+8), World Trade Center, Pasay City, Philippines

Predictions were either falling short or a real bullseye in this second day of Ragnarok Online World Championships 2008 (RWC). Many expect Thailand or Korea to shoot straight up to the top, but the spectators of the home country, Philippines, still have high hopes on their team. Having led the race against Germany and Japan, the other teams were impressed with Philippines' unorthodox and swift strategy. Thailand's aggressive maneuvers sent many spectators around the world shivering, and ultimately, the question was asked, "Who will be this year's victor?"

The first match was between Korea and USA. Team Korea proved to the world that they are still one of the undisputed in terms of gaming, gaining 2 straight quick wins against their western adversaries. Team USA was swept out in both rounds, and Korea advances into the semi-finals in a breath's moment.

The second match was also a swift battle. Team Indonesia went against Team France, in a matchup that lasted less than expected. Indonesia easily swept off their opponents from the arena , sending the French team packing. Indonesia makes it to the f

October 18, 2008 - World Trade Center, Pasay City, Philippines

Ever had the feeling that everyone hates you? It's no surprise, really. This feeling is especially true for bloggers, writers, critics. Internet writers get hundreds of bashings from the general anonymous (and not-so-anonynous) internet population, ranging from the simple "U SUCK" to a bit less indirect "F*** U." For instance, you can spend 48 straight hours playing some horrible excuse-for-an-MMO and give it the well-deserved crappy rating or verdict, only to find that everyone -- from gamers and developers, beta testers and other critics -- jumps down your throat. Then, you spend 48 more hours playing a game deserving of an astoundingly impressive review, and the people still hate you, call you a "WoW fag" and other bashings. Of worthy to note, other comments would even contest the size and virility of your genitalia just to prove how wrong or biased your judgment was.

How do we do it? How do we deal with this kind of hate, as a writer?
Well, this may also apply to every other critic or blogger out there, simple -- we eat, sleep, get drunk, play more games, and write drafts of our next articles or posts. A lot of times, honestly

AsdaStory

An MMORPG that targets the younger (and less serious) gaming audience, Gamescampus delivers Asda Story to the world. But will the seemingly button-mashed game title and the cutesy anime-looking characters inspire gamers to try out this world?

Much Asda About Nothing
When you look at MMO ads, you'll find Asda quite the compelling game to try out. "Find your soulmate" sounds like you're delving into a social or casual game in a different timeframe. On second glance, Asda Story is that game that falls short of its ROSE predecessor and copies several World of Warcraft systems. Much like some random programmer just put in a lot of junk to make a treasure out of it.

Topsy-Turvy
Asda Story is set in a dream world called "Omnibus World." The world is said to be constructed out of the people's imagination and dreams, with Tillia serving as their god of creation and Lumper as the god of destruction. Eventually, the people lost their will to construct their world, and thus started the world's demise. A being of nothingness called Nihil emerged, wanting to destroy the world of Omnibus. Thus the two gods joined forces to stop this being. Nihil, being nonexistent, c
